Absolutely recommend. We had the prime rib dinner and the French dip, and a slice of strawberry rhubarb pie. My husband isn't going to shut up about that pie for a week - he said he reserves the right to talk about it longer because it was so good. If you're a regular, you're in luck & will be greeted with. "Hey baby" or "hi love". If not, the owner/main waitress will not even look up at you when you walk in, you'll stand there for a few moments while she ignores you, then she'll scold you and say "sit wherever". Then, you'll wait for 30 minutes without her checking on you or bringing menus. Eventually we grabbed our own menus and had the dishwasher grab us two waters. No one checked on us for a very, very long time. We finally got to order our food around 6:58 after arriving at 6:02. We received our food at 7:19 and our tacos had the soggiest tortillas, they were falling apart and we had to just eat the ingredients on the inside with a fork. All of our other dishes were cold & not very flavorful. The server never ONCE checked on us or refilled our waters (that she didn't bring us in the first place). There were three women working the front of house and the main server continuously yelled at and scolded one of the other servers and at one point raised her voice at her and said "we will talk about this later!! You're being so rude!" It made for a VERY uncomfortable experience for everyone around. Every single table that came in after us not only received drinks, attention, menus, etc., but they ALL ordered and received their food before us. Like, nearly 30 minutes before us. It was an absolute horrible experience. I've worked in food service before & have eaten at many establishments where service wasn't quite up to par but this really topped all of them. Three of us had a very nice lunch here. My husband had a roast beef sandwich with mashed potatoes which he thoroughly enjoyed. The taste of the roast was good and the meat was tender and moist. Our 12 year old grandson had chicken strips which he gave an "okay" rating. He is a chicken strip connoisseur. I had a patty melt which was okay. The coffee was fresh which I appreciated very much. All were BIG portions as well as being fresh! The best part of the Greek salad and sandwich is they make their own HOMEMADE tzaiki (which was delicious!!!). My cousin told us this was a must stop for lunch. We were traveling back to Helena from Glacier Park. It's easy to find right in the middle of the crossroads in the center of town. It really was a great choice. We had lunch but the desserts here are really the star. All of our sandwiches were great. I got a delicious rueben packed with corn beef. Everyone else had burgers which were unanimously declared delish. We chose mushroom bisque which was really yummy. We shared a piece of strawberry rhubarb pie for dessert and wished we weren't so stuffed so we could have tried some of the other pies. The waitress was very helpful and gave great recommendations. The restaurant is really big and the ambiance is what I would call "Montana rustic". The grands enjoyed looking at the old timey stoves and wagon wheel lighting fixtures. The best fish tacos - crispy fried cod on corn tortillas accompanied by black beans, rice, corn, and shredded purple cabbage - I have ever had! My sister, who had a fish/shrimp and chips, and husband, who had the French dip, were equally pleased. We shared a delicious homemade lemon cake. We had an efficient, delightful server, which made for a totally enjoyable dining experience mid week, mid afternoon. Reading several of the other reviews I wasn't sure we would stop for lunch, but hunger overwhelmed me as I went through town and we did. Service was fantastic, the waitress was right to us for drinks and promptly back for our order. The food, was less than stellar, I had fish tacos, one was cooked way too long, and was very crispy, not much of the fish survived, the other done well and was delicious. My girlfriend had the fish and shrimp special, hers was fine. So food was "meh", service brought it back to a solid 3 star. read more

The Log Cabin was recommended as "the place to go" in Choteau by the desk person at the Stage Stop Inn - great recommendation. Very rustic, homey feel, right on the town square. Excellent, friendly service. Come hungry - the portions are huge! Started with the Buffalo Chip appetizer - big enough for a meal, we got about half way through and had to set it aside for the entrees. I had the Chicken Fried Steak - best I have ever had (including my Mom's) , perfect in every way. Again, too much to finish - no room for any pie this time. I can't even begin to describe the flavor blasting my mouth experienced when trying the tomatoes and cottage cheese. This immaculate delicacy can only be described as how one would describe the feeling of intense emotion while holding a new born baby in your arms. A tear fell from my eye as I sampled the raw intensity of this dish, because it reminded me of my late grandfather and the cherished memories we shared in his hospital bed, feasting on tomatoes and cottage cheese shortly before he passed from stage 4 lung cancer. Staying in Choteau for summer, eat here weekly. During 4th of July weekend they offered a BRISKET SPECIAL, with coke slaw, potato salad and fruit! And the texture was perfect--crispy all around except the middle, where the potato slivers were perfectly cooked, all fresh and tasty. The burger was excellent too. The reviews complaining about slow service need to be taken in context. This is not a fast-food joint. (And come on! Who expects gourmet shrimp scampi in rural Montana?) Meals are prepared to order, and if the place is busy,it might take 30-40 minutes for the food to come. But it's worth the wait. We came in a group of 15, including 7 kids under 10, with orders on four separate checks. The server didn't balk or even flinch. She said, "We're kid friendly here." I came here two nights in a row as I was in town for work. There are not much options in Choteau to eat so no choice unless I wanted pizza. The first night I came it was extremely busy to the point where I got my drink ordered but took 20 minutes for the server to take my order. When she finally made her way I ordered the Buffalo burger deluxe medium rare as well as an order of wings for an appetizer. The wings were surprisingly good which was made in some kind of sweet sauce. As for the burger it was cooked to medium rare like it's supposed to. This is the first time eating buffalo meat which I think is sweeter than beef. Don't know what buffalo is supposed to taste like but it was good. I like beef better. Now for the second night. It wasn't as busy as the first night at all but once again it took 10 minutes this time for server to take order. I ordered the shrimp scampi and came with soup. It took another 15-20 minutes to get my food in which the soup came the same time as my meal. The soup was delicious which was ham and summer beans. I usually always salt my soups but to my surprise it was perfect. Now as for the shrimp scampi! It you're going to this restaurant and am reading this whole review, "DO NOT ORDER" as this was literally a disgrace! What you don't see in the picture is the water in bottom of plate that was not drained. There was absolutely no seasoning at all or any type of sauce over the shrimp and noodles! The shrimp wasn't even sautéed but boiled! I seriously can't understand how this dish is even on the menu! Now for the price of items on the menu. I think the burger side of menu was priced fairly. Scampi I wouldn't have ate it was free let alone $16! I ordered a slice of pie which later found out it was $5! Overall I think this restaurant is way overpriced! read more

WOW!! What amazing burgers. Everyone in our party had one and we were all soooo happy with our meals. My mom, sister, and I are traveling from Oregon (normally from Great Falls) and my grandma lives in power so we don't make it out this way too much when we are visiting. This place was recommended to us by the hotel we stayed in. Said to be sure to check out their homemade pies. So we walked in and got a table but he window. The interior is amazing because it looks just like a Log Cabin. It was built from local area wood. Our server came over and gave us a friendly greeting and took our drink order. She returned quickly to get our order. I ordered a Cajun Turkey sandwich. It was made with thick sliced REAL turkey, not the deli kind. It came with tomatoes, onions and lettuce. I also ordered a side salad. The sandwich was amazing and so large that I could not finish it so a to go box was in order. My wife got a Mile High Veggie sandwich. It had eleven layers and was so thick she had to cut it and eat it with a fork. Hers was also so big we got a to go box. We were so stuffed we could not eat dessert but, our server suggested that we take some in a to go box. She brought the menu on a hand written piece of paper since all the pies are homemade. We chose the peach/raspberry. We ate it after we had our leftovers in the evening. If you are ever in the area don't pass this place up. It is fantastic. read more

Ignored when we entered. No greeting at all. Seated ourselves after asking. Never acknowledged. Got our own menus. Waited 15 minutes while the staff waited on other tables that arrived after we did. The only interaction with the staff was to ask them if we needed to seat ourselves and the waitress was rather rude and said "Yeah, where ever you want I guess". It was not near closing time.
