    Burger with chips

I had so much trouble finding a menu for this place so I attached it to this review. After 6 miles of hiking this burger was easily top 10 I've ever had. I have no idea why it's so good and is hidden away at this wayside. But the star of the meal was the blackberry milkshake. That thing should be illegal.

Menu, order and pick up area.

Meh! Expensive fast food in a fly bothered setting. It is the only place to get food for miles around so it is acceptable for that.

This is the better place to go to pick up camp items than the camp store at Big Meadows Campground. I bought fire sticks that were very helpful to start a fire. Both dishes were absolutely delicious! We could taste the freshness. We cleaned our plates. Someone recommended the blackberry ice cream pie so I wanted to try that, but I saw blackberry cobbler and knew I had to try that too. We ordered both desserts to share. The blackberry ice cream pie was good but that cobbler stole the show. Warm cobbler with vanilla ice cream... to die for! We both loved that much more than the pie. So good. Our waitress, Ashley, was friendly, funny, and attentive. The atmosphere of the dining room was just okay. The patio looked like it had a beautiful view but we ate inside in fear of being bothered by bugs. All in all, I would come back for the delicious food and that blackberry cobbler.

While it was very cold out and the cabin we booked's heat was out, the staff were all incredibly friendly and jumped to make our experience amazing. As soon as we reported the heat not working, maintenance was sent down and a portable heater was put in. The cabin was very clean and cozy. The bed was comfortable and you couldn't hear anything from outside. It was so peaceful. The food was also amazing! Our first night we enjoyed the ribeye special (which was cooked to a perfect medium rare), venison stroganoff and a glass of the night sky (Shenandoah Cabernet Franc). We liked the wine so much we picked up a bottle from the shop. For breakfast before hiking, we chose the blackberry French toast and Stoney man breakfast along with coffee that was never allowed to be low. This was all so good we ordered the same the next morning along with an orange juice to go. For our second night, we had the short ribs, forrester pasta, blackberry lemonades and a blackberry cobbler that we had brought out in a box to save for later. On that second night, there was a bit of a back wait to be seated, but we think the staff handled it very well and as efficiently as possible. Overall, even with a few hiccups, we didn't have any complaints and are considering to make this a tradition for our anniversary.

There is also a small gift shop available. The center is located near a trailhead and the Big Meadows Lodge, which offers food during peak season. There are gas pumps available. There was an EV charger in the parking area, as well, though it was out of commission at the time of our visit. The rangers and staff were all very friendly and helpful.

It was very expensive when we went which was at the end of the season and the fall leaves were showing (Oct. 24-25, 2025). The 2 bedroom was interesting. We each had our own private entrance. We requested a microwave upon arriving and within10 minutes it was delivered. It already had a microwave and mini fridge in one of the rooms. The rooms had what they called a sitting area(LOL) between the rooms. More like a mini foyer if you even want to call it that. There was another door that lead outside with no lock, so you would have to lock your room door. Bringing in our camping chairs was the best idea, so we can sit and chat. The room had one table and chair. Each room had a fireplace which we didn't use. There was heat in the room and it worked well throughout our stay. The bathroom was small, but had all the essentials. It had body wash, shampoo and conditioner in the shower and a hair dryer. That was nice. There was barely any water pressure in the shower and you couldn't be there very long before it started getting cold. The bathroom doors had locks, so you can lock it when in there. Surprisingly, it was pretty sound proof. Outside, there was an area with chairs to sit and we saw a few deer grazing. There were plenty of spaces to park, but I'm glad we brought our rolling suitcases since the entrance to our rooms were behind the cabin. They had a place you can eat and gift shop with many to-go options. My overall experience was that it was conveniently located in the middle of the skyline, so getting to the better overlooks was a time saver. The rooms could have been more clean, but we really didn't spend a lot of time there. It served our purpose which was a warm place to sleep. I would probably not return only because there were NO good food options at the park unless I cook throughout my stay or make lunch before exploring. Eating was a pain because they would run out of food and the lines were sometimes long. I know they had several accommodations with different floor plans. My experience was only staying at a cabin called PIEDMONT. Yes, I would recommend it, but it depends on what you're looking for. Hope this helps.

It was relaxing and it was close to the lodge, restaurants, and hikes. The campground was full, but it wasn't noisy. My campsite was in the B Loop, site 44. It's not a drive-in site. You need to walk about 50 meters, but the short trail to the campsite is well maintained and so was the campsite. It was very clean and flat for tent set-up. Each campsite has a table and a fire ring with a grill. There's also a locker to store food since the campground is in bear territory. Didn't see any bears, but some deer walked through my campsite. There are toilets walkable from the campsites. I don't like that the showers are elsewhere, next to the camp store. You will have to drive to the showers. It's $5 for 10 minutes. At the camp store, you can buy some fire starters, ice, wood, and a limited selection of snacks. Campsites are $30/night and get booked up months in advance. Each site fits one large tent and one medium tent and a max of two cars. There is no cell reception at the campsite. If you need cell service or wifi, you can go to the Big Meadows Lodge, which also has a bar and restaurant.
