You start in one barn, then realize there are paths, sheds, rooms, and outbuildings everywhere…read more They hand you a map, which sounds excessive but I stared at it for several minutes trying to figure out where to go. What impressed me most was how organized everything felt despite the scale. Sections actually make sense, shelves are labeled, and you can wander without feeling like you are digging through chaos. Pricing is great too. I kept pulling books thinking I would narrow it down later, and somehow still walked out with an armful without feeling irresponsible. The selection is broad without being dusty or sad. Newer releases mixed in with older paperbacks, art books next to cookbooks, random surprises everywhere. There are goats roaming around and a couple of cats who seem fully aware they are part of the charm. If I had one minor complaint, some of the outbuildings get a little tight when it is busy, and browsing can feel cramped. Still, that did not slow me down much. I already know I will be back, probably with a bigger tote next time.

As Connecticut's equivalent to Strand Book Store in Manhattan, Book Barn is a bibliophile's…read moreseemingly bottomless treasure chest! Indeed, dispersed at three distinct locations, BB provides three seemingly bottomless treasure chests. Be prepared to spend several hours browsing their shelves and, if you're game, to buy several armfuls of books. Be prepared in other ways. At the main location, the Barn and its many satellite sheds have some aisles that are damp, dusty, and musty, so if you have respiratory allergies you are advised to wear a face mask there. And while you're at it, dig into your spelunker gear and wear a headlamp, because some of the corners and bottom shelves are so dark you must strain your eyes to read the book spines. Nevertheless, such perils are worth enduring when you arrive home with your trove of cherished books. 5-stars for buying books at Book Barn. An advisory about selling books to BB. You might return home with half of your books unsold. Lugging heavy books from home to car trunk to BB and again to car trunk and again to home rarely can be worth your time and effort. Best to leave at home your paperbacks, and to bring only your hardbacks, as you are more likely sell most of your hardbound books. And best to arrive in the morning soon after they begin buying books, else you must wait in line behind other people selling their books. But, and this is the big BUT. At the conclusion of their hasty appraisal of your entire load of books while you watched helplessly as they rummaged through your trove, be prepared for disappointment, if not humiliation. What they offer to pay you is dismal. They quote you one lump sum for your load of books, never for individual books, but the outcome is as if for, say, your scholarly hardbound book published by an academic press, a first printing in mint condition with its dust jacket intact, they will offer to pay you one-tenth of the price at which they will eventually sell it. To its credit, BB is hardly different from other used book stores in its book buying protocol. Unless you are impoverished, you're better off saving yourself the time and trouble, and instead to donate your books to your local public library. Yet, even your public library will be as selective and unwelcoming, and most of the books they do accept from you will be sold at their annual book sale. The sad fact is that 99-percent of all used books, when measured solely in monetary terms of resale value, are totally worthless. 3-stars for selling your books at Book Barn. So 4-stars total.

There is a kids arcade inside called Kids Quest that has good games. There are great fine dining options inside such as Sushi Koya, Tao Asian Bistro, The Farm Italy, and Michael Jordan's Steak House. Frank Pepe Pizzeria Napoletana also makes good fresh brick oven pizza that is made to order. Although the pizza used to be much better back in the day. Some of the restaurants have changed over the years, but most of the key ones have stayed the same. The hotel is also well put together and comfortable. Additionally, my relatives like what the casino has to offer here. Aside from that, they do have some great shows and concerts here. They also have a shopping area where you can spend a lot of time. Shopping-wise, The Olde General Store has some unique and quaint supplies and tools. Sometimes, this store carries handmade dolls by local Mohegan artists. It's a great personal touch since the area is part of the Mohegan Tribe's reservation. I still like visiting Mohegan Sun with family.

Ok, beside the slots the dining is absolutely fabulous. Everything from Chick Filet to Michael Jordan's Steakhouse serving prime dry aged steaks. Shopping store non problem cause they have plenty of options for shopping.... But enough of this I'm primed to hit the machines once again, so see ya!

Several out door displays are in this area and in front of the building. The gentleman at the visitor information desk just inside the door recommended seeing the sub first, then return to visit the museum. Walk down the hallway, and out to the water, cross a gang plank and into a small structure on the top of the sub where a set of stairs leads down. A Navy guard is on duty here if you have questions. Be aware the stairs throughout are steep, and some quite narrow. Sub doorways are 'ports' you have to bend down and step over at the same time to get though. Or, grab the handle above the doorway and swing yourself through feet first. Some of the walkways through the sub are very narrow as well, and a tall person may have to 'duck' their head during their visit. This is a self guided tour. Both plastic and paper signage gives information along the way. I can not imagine living on a sub. Tiny bathrooms, tiny bunks, sleeping quarters right by work areas. It's quite an experience to see how comparatively palacial the officer quarters look once you see how the others live. The tour follows a loop through the sub and you exit where you enter. Return to the museum and there is plenty of information on the Nautilus as well as submarines in general. The museum has a 2nd floor in the room closest to the sub, with plenty of information and a viewing window. A movie plays in this room as well, with seats, in case you need a rest, or want to view the film. The gift shop, located by the museum entrance/exit has lots of nice items for purchase. Plush toys, puzzles, post cards, glassware, home decor, shirts, ornaments, jewelry, wind chimes and more. Prices are reasonable. I picked up a soy candle, compact mirror and post card. You can breeze right thru, or spend hours in here. Check out their website for more information, and plan a visit!

They had a DJ I didn't know but he did pretty good. We danced all night and had a great time. Drinks were great. The Cosmopolitan Martine could have been better according to the few that ordered it but all other drinks were great. Bartenders were quick to take our orders considering how packed the place was. I have been here many times in the past 18 years. I loved that now they have a bucket to the left of the bar filled with water bottles. And this is great cause for us dancing all night hydration is important. So that's a plus for them. The only bad thing is that tables were filled with glassware and many broken next to dance floor. A dance floor that was packed so a little bump to the table and it could be a huge accident. Lots of broken glass on the dance floor too. I had to point out to one of the security guard the broken glasses near dance floor tables. They did take care of it fast. I may suggest to the manager to have a person come by with a bag just to pick up the actual garbage too. And maybe a bucket for glassware. Cause the guy that was picking up some was carrying it on his hand so it's hard to carry that many. So come by to have a good time. 100% recommend this place. The place is great for all ages. Music is great as well and they try to mix it up real good unless it's a theme night. Prices for drinks are reasonable considering that it's the casino. And now with no smoking band in the casino I'm happier to visit more often.
