My girlfriend and I moved in in June of 2016, it was down hill from the start. Upon being handed the lease to review and sign I asked the property manager if there was anything that I should look for while I was reading. She replied with no, it's all pretty standard. Lucky for me I chose to read the lease in its entirety. Come to find out no one told me when we toured or talked about us leasing an apartment that we would need renters insurance or that we couldn't break our lease for any reason. During our tour of the apartments we were able to see the exact apartment we were going to move into, the leasing agent told us that the dirt area directly outside our patio would have grass, after moving in we were told it would be sprayed with wet seed which was described to me as 1'-2' weeds. The wet seed was sprayed almost a month ago and we still don't have much growing, in fact we had nothing growing until I started taking the time out of my day to water the seed and go to Home Depot to buy a nozzle for the hose and sprinklers. This may look like a luxury apartment complex, but it is not run like one. I have lived in luxury apartment complexes before and I promise you, this is not luxury. When we moved in no one had ever lived here before, yet there were gouges in the mantle and in the floor of the shower. We were also told when we signed our lease that certain amenities were going to be finished within weeks of us moving in but since then we've seen little to no progress being made on this around the complex, specifically the outdoor community fire pit, which over 2 months later is still not finished, and summer is almost over, so it doesn't look like I will get to use that this year. I understand that there can be set backs with projects, especially where there are many people involved, but when something is supposed to be done by a certain time, we expect that it will be done. If it is not, we expect that there be some sort of communication around the new timeline, and so far there has been no information given to us to update, and when I ask no one seems to have a straight answer. This is extremely frustrating, and this just details some of the problems we have been having with our apartment. The garbage is constantly over flowing and there aren't many residents which worries me for when the complex is full. The workers who were doing construction and landscaping at the complex have been leaving garbage and water and soda bottles around the grounds, both on and in front of people's patios and wedged into the gas meters. When we moved in we signed our lease stating that there was no smoking within 25' of the building, yet there are cigarette butts everywhere on the complex grounds, and I have personally witnessed this behavior. Being that we are pet owners, this makes me nervous for my pets safety. Inside of our apartment since moving in, we had issues with our internet port not being wired correctly which caused Time Warner to have to come out and resolve the issue for which they then tried to charge an additional $40 for, and in July our flooring by our island was bowing. Thankfully someone was able to come fix this, but seeing that this is a brand new apartment that no one has ever lived in we were hoping that these things inside our apartment wouldn't be an issue. We have also been having issues with another resident who has been making unwanted sexual advances and comments to my girlfriend as well as my girlfriends mom when she came to visit. This is not acceptable and it is to the point where my girlfriend doesn't feel comfortable being outside or walking to her car alone because of this. We have brought this to the attention of management and we were not the only residents who have said something and he apparently had already been talked to. Later that week after I spoke to the office is when we had the situation where sexual advances were made towards my girlfriends mom, but it doesn't stop there, he also felt it was appropriate to talk about marijuana in front of her 12 and 7 yr old daughters. The final straw today was that when I went to go use the gym. I walked down the hall and to the gym only to find that my key fab does not work, then I tried to use my key to get in the other door, that didn't work either. I pay to live at this complex and take advantage of the amenities that are supposed to be available to me, but I can't use the outdoor seating area because it is not finished, and I can't use the community room or the gym, so there are no amenities that I am able to take advantage of, yet I am still paying my full rent. And we emailed the property company and got no response. This is outrageous. $1225 for rent and this is the experience we have had here. We were very excited to move into the complex and expected to have wonderful things to say about it, but our experience so far does not leave us with feelings of excitement, but instead feelings of being stuck because we can't break our lease. read more
