This is as good as a small business can get. Liz came out and replaced our front door knob and keyed the new knob to match the existing dead bolt. She was friendly, quick, efficient, and everything was completed perfectly. She also provided same-day service with no extra charge; I called around 10 am, and she was there by 2:30 pm. The five stars is for service and being human beings. Out of nowhere the lock on our front door simply stopped working. I called these guys based on the reviews and was greeted warmly and told a tech would call within twenty mins. I got a call about five minutes later from Herb who couldn't have been nicer. He asked me to take a photo of the lock and text it to him. Five mins later he called me and asked me to spray some WD 40 in the lock then insert and remove the key four times then try and turn it. I did that and the lock worked perfectly, no charge as he said the object is to help people and save them money. If I EVER need a locksmith again I will be calling these VERY FAIR tradesmen. i called them after seeing them on yelp. they were great. their prices were slightly lower than a few other places i called. they took a while but had some complicated locks in my new home. they keys from before were all keyed but the width of them varied on different doors. locks on wheels got everything working just perfectly. one door had some cheap mechanism inside and was slightly broken, they showed me why it was not a strong lock and gave me some recommendations. they did a great job. took a while but it was because i had so many cylinders.... 16!! if i never need a locksmith i will definitely use them again. read more

The latch on the door from my garage into my house jammed. As a result, the door would not close. I tried to take the doorknob/latch apart, but I could not get the doorknob free of the latch. I called Locks on Wheels, and Herb called me right back. When I told him the problem, he said he might be able to talk me through how to get everything apart on the phone. It took 15 or 20 minutes, but I was able to follow Herb's instructions and finally get the mechanism out of the door. Once I saw how to do it it was pretty simple, but I would never have figured it out without Herb's help. I offered to pay Herb for his time, but he insisted that there was no charge, and that he was glad to help, and glad to save me the Saturday night service fee. We just bought a home and needed our locks replaced. Based upon Yelp reviews, we found this company. They were punctual (actually a little early and we weren't home, but they sat and waited outside for us to arrive at our designated appointment time), and REALLY quick. When they got here I asked how long it would take..."about a half hour"....which included giving me 5 extra keys. I think they are a small company, probably just LIz and Herb - but man they are efficient! If I need any other lock replacements...EVER...I will go with these guys again. read more

We had recently bought a foreclosed property where the locks had been messed with and were looking to get four different doors re-keyed. I made an appointment to have Locks on Wheels come to the home and they gave me a 30 minute time frame of when they'd be there. None of that "Oh, we'll stop by sometime between 8am and 3pm" stuff. I was liking it already. When inquiring about the prices, I was told it would be about $50 for the service charge, $10 to re-key each lock, and $2 per copy of the keys. Very reasonable, if you ask me. Liz and Herb showed up and dove right into work. We ended up needing two sets of locks replaced and they had the exact ones in their van, new and ready to install. They worked efficiently as a team and were in and out, finishing 4 doors in 40 minutes. Amazing company, very charming, friendly folks who are clearly hardworking and good at what they do....and they do it well, without ripping you off. read more

I called as we locked ourselves out of our home. When I spoke to the operator, it sounded like a dispatch service mentioning that I will be getting a call from a person named Herb. The operator asked for my name and number but not my address. I asked if they needed my address but he assured me that it is not needed and that Herb will provide the cost along with getting my address. I never did get a call back from anyone. I waited for 30 minutes then decided to call another locksmith service. An hour passed and still no call while the other lock service came and already went. Unfortunately, lost me some time and these guys lost a customer. Take it for what it's worth but I give this a 1 star for poor customer service and follow up read more

I recently moved into a new house and after taking off our door locks, bringing them to the hardware store, being told no one was available who could rekey our locks for us, and then (poorly) putting the locks back on our doors, we decided to call in some professionals to make sure everything was done properly--and I'm so glad we did! Working with the Locks on Wheels team was a pleasure from the beginning. Herb took my call to get my appointment set up (I wasn't in a huge rush), and provided excellent customer service. Then, Liz came out exactly on time, rekeyed the locks in hardly any time, replace a few issues I didn't even know we had with the locks (apparently they weren't doing us much good in the first place--yikes!), and gave some really great advice on what we can do to secure our garage door and save some money. Not sure how to star this review, but this was my experience with this company. I was locked out of my apartment, and this was the second locksmith that I called. The first company sent someone who was unable to pick the lock. I live in NW Portland. I called the dispatch, and they were very nice and helpful. They paged the on-call locksmith and Herb was on call. Herb was very nice, but he didn't want to drive from wherever he was to my apartment. So, he recommended that I call another service. He gave some recommendations, the first of which was the locksmith that was currently at my apartment failing at opening the lock. The second recommendation was closed. No services were rendered, but it was disappointing that the locksmith recommended I call another service. read more

My 93 yr. old friend had lost a large bunch of keys. One to his cabin in Rhododendron. We made a time sensitive appt. to have a lock smith come out. Arrived earlier than appointment time. Replaced non-functional dead-bolt and handle/lock, now keyed alike and, (unlike the previous) properly installed, and made five keys, all for $95. I consider that a bargain, and it all took about 45 minutes. She also left the old lock, as she said "So you know I'm not parting them out". Parting out a lock you recommended replacing never occurred to naive me as a way someone might cheat a customer, but it's clear that she doesn't need (or want) to cheat anyone. KEVO: Herb is the only locksmith I could find in PDX to install my Bluetooth Kevo deadbolt. Not only did he know how to do it he wouldn't leave until my phone was fully working with the lock. He had to drill a new deadbolt hole in my $1200 wood door which I was nervous about but he did it expertly & it lines up perfectly. He also switched out a Baldwin deadbolt & copied keys on the spot.
