Replaced and repaired locks. I called Saturday, July 5, because I'd inadvertently locked myself out of the front of my newly purchased house due to a faulty storm door lock. My initial appointment was for the following Monday, since I didn't want to pay extra for a Saturday visit. However, Joe Locke called and said he had the time to complete the job that day, but would still charge it as a weekday visit. What was to be a quick 10 min. appt turned into about a 2-hr job, as Joe accommodated my last-minute request to replace the locks for both front and back storm doors and house doors, thus saving me about $80 since I wouldn't have to make a second appt and incur another consultation fee. Had my locks rekeyed. We sold a car to a private party and left our house key on the keyring with the car keys. I woke up Tuesday morning after worrying about it all night and looked on Angie's List for a locksmith. This company was the first one listed and had 2 good reviews so I called them. I made the call around 9AM and we discussed what I needed and the price. He said he could be at my house in 30 to 45 minutes and about 45 minutes later, he was knocking on the door. He had a nice van with the name of his company on the side and apparently does all the rekeying in the van. He took off my locks, went out to his van for awhile and then put everything back together. I have brand new locks with keys. I thought the price was very reasonable. He charges $70 for the house call, $10 for each lock and $2.00 a key. This company is family owned.! What a difference when the owner does the work. Yes, the owner. I inherited my mothers home. I Was at the house when she had her doors re-keyed and remembered how nice the guy was, fast and reasonable. I looked thru her old check book and found them! He was on time. Locke's replaced two locks and added a thumb turn to the entry way door of the business I work for. I called Lockes on the Wednesday or Thursday prior to the locks being installed and they came out that same night to assess our situation. They called me back the next day and I placed my order. The part was in the next day and then I scheduled them to come out on Monday to do the work. They were punctual and completed both locks within an hour. They made keys on site and stamped them "Do Not Copy" as requested. A couple of days later I needed a few more keys and I had no problem getting them at short notice. Had the locks changed in house and separate garage. We recently bought a house and wanted all new locks. I called this locksmith because I'd recently used him and knew he was reliable and would most likely come the same day I called. I called in the morning and he was there in the afternoon. I didn't realize there were so many doors with locks on this house, so he really had a lot of locks to change. At least 6 or 7. He also changed an entire door knob from a locked one to one with no lock. It was a basement workroom with the lock on the outside which was pretty odd. He's very professional and I was more than satisfied. I bought a duplex and asked Joe to re-key 5 doors and commonize the keys for each unit. When I first spoke to Joe, he gave me prices over the phone for service and re-key charges, etc. He estimated his arrival and then also called to confirm he was on the way. Unfortunately, it was one of the hottest days so far with no A/C. He worked for some time in the awful heat and made suggestions to move some locks to reduce the costs in commonizing the keys. I called with the intention of having all new locks placed in my home. He asked me why I wanted to do this and after I explained my reasons he told me it was not necessary to redo all my locks and told me a much simpler and cheaper option I could do on my own. I was very surprised that he was concerned enough to inquire as to why I thought I needed new locks and then was nice enough to not just "make the sale" and gave me honest good advice at the loss of a job. We purchased a new home that was a foreclosure. There was only a push button lock on the front door, and I wanted the locks in three other exterior doors changed and all locks keyed alike. Unlocked a locked basement door, re-keyed the lock to my main house key, and made me 3 extra house keys. Called them on Christmas Eve around 3:30pm and they were here in 15 minutes. She arranged for the locksmith to come right away as he was available between jobs. He was professional and explained what he was doing.
