The place was quite busy when we got there, but despite that, we got seated right away. Our server was pretty nice, very attentive, and always checked on us. I ordered the soup, which was really good! I just forgot what kind it was, lol. The shrimp was okay, but a little on the oily side. My husband really enjoyed his food too, he had the white fish. Though he said it was a little salty, overall, we enjoyed our first experience! We will definitely be back again.

This was such a quaint, amazing little restaurant on the main drag in Sault St. Marie. Right across the street are the locks, and you can see through the park some of the freighters that come through. They also have a live feed viewable on a TV in the dining area. Now the good and service - both amazing! We were sat quickly, our server was extremely attentive and the menu items were great. We were in for breakfast though I'd love to grab lunch there, around 9/9:30A it did start to pick up so while we didn't have a wait, I would expect one during prime times. The whitefish breakfast (MTO how you like, Cajun or lemon pepper or plain and can pick how you would like it cooked) was as phenomenal. We ordered that and the corned beef hash and both plates were amazing. Bottomless coffee refills, fast service and an all around wonderful experience.

Was super excited to try this place based an a video I had seen about Sault St. Marie. The atmosphere was as expected, all about the licks, shipping, and history or the restaurant and the area. It has a great view of the locks and is really a cool atmosphere. The service was so so, it wasn't busy when we were there but it took a long time to get drinks, or and get food. My husband ordered a Blue Moon and they served it in a mug that was so small it can only be described as a child size root beer mug. I had heard about their famous smoked whitefish spread so we got that as a starter, so disappointed. It was a lot of cream cheese, very little white fish and very little flavor, basically it tasted like cream cheese. The burger was okay, average pub food. However, the whitefish bites were really good, large portion to share or could be a meal. Overall just average place.

The Whitefish chowder was absolutely delicious, I am so glad I ordered it. The chicken strips were also good. The service was friendly and fast. The place had a water boat theme and was clean.

Our first time here, had to experience what all the hype is about. I ordered the classic white fish, dinner, and my girl ordered the golf shrimp. Super happy about all of it.

Lock view is a must try if you are visiting the Soo Locks. It's a short walk from the locks or the other shops. There should be plenty of street parking. This facility is a bit dated in decor. It is clean and welcoming. Everyone was very friendly. Our waitress was outstanding and made us feel like we were regulars. The menu is pretty large so you can always find something. We tried the walleye and white fish baskets. The French fries were nice and crispy without being to greasy. The white fish had a rather thick breading they was a bit greasy. The white fish piece was large and meaty. The fish was fresh tasting and delicious. The tarter sauce was heavy on the Mayo side. It didn't have much relish or sweetness to pull you in. The Cole slaw had a slight horseradish bit but otherwise was very heavy on the Mayo.

Walleye dinner. I chose lemon pepper, a salad and mashed potato for sides.

We have been here twice in less than 24 hours. For dinner we both chose a walleye dinner. There are 3 different walleye meals and the same or more of whitefish. Plenty of delicious choices. Beware there are two steps to get inside. If mobility is an issue you might have trouble. We came back for breakfast as well, since the hotel had some crap coffee. This places coffee is not that great either, but the food is great. Today's special was Eggs Benedict. The service is pretty good too.

Old cafe style restaurant right across from the locks. We parked on the street with no issues. You can park on either side of the street and I think they have parking in the back. We were seated right away and had great service. My wife had a shrimp basket and I had pan fried whitefish. Both dinners the seafood was excellent and the rest was ok. My fish was very large and I couldn't finish it. Highly recommend this place for their seafood.

This is the kind of place I look for when traveling: rich in history, prime location, filled with locals, homey food, and reasonably priced. Fish chowder was the best thing I ever ate! Rich, creamy, smoky, and hot! Nice they let you sub for fries as a side. White fish sandwich was cooked perfectly, hot and crispy. Try to get a window seat to check out the lock and people watch.

After time in Hawaii, Miami, North Carolina, and San Francisco I have had some great fish; today I'm adding Sault Ste Marie's Elks Club (552) to my list of great fish places. The people working are committed to the club. And YES, the club was open to the public for dinner. Service was outstanding and many people are regulars / know each other which adds to the charm of the club - definitely small town in all the best ways. Cold beer at the bar, great fish (walleye), good fries and above average slaw made this a meal worth sharing. Friendly people serving, and checking on your service as well as the meal, even though they weren't our server but because they sincerely, genuinely care about us as customers is really unique and nice! Parking is easy. The view of the waterway is exceptional. The bar is old school. And a lot of fun. Yes, they have ship shots. You don't have to be a member of the Elks, but maybe it is something you should consider. Regardless, check out the Elks Club when it is open to the public, and ENJOY yourself!!!

You all know I hate leaving poor reviews, but unfortunately, this is going to be one of them…read more Honestly, this feels more like a 2.5-star experience than a 3-star one. I don't think the restaurant is beyond saving by any means, but I do think there are some issues that need attention. Looking back, I wish I had paid closer attention to some of the lower-rated Google reviews because my experience ended up being very similar. Upon arrival, figuring out how to enter the restaurant was a little confusing. Once inside, I decided to take the stairs instead of the elevator. Unfortunately, every step up was covered with what felt like an excessive amount of sand. The windowsills along the staircase were filled with cobwebs and what appeared to be piles of dead mosquitoes. Now, I understand that restaurants near the beach have to deal with sand, insects, and other environmental challenges. That comes with the territory. But this felt beyond that. It felt neglected. Once upstairs, the staff was friendly enough. I don't have any major complaints about the service. It wasn't overwhelming. It wasn't underwhelming. It was just... whelming. One thing I did genuinely appreciate was seeing a restaurant filled with people of color, both among the staff and guests. In many of the places I've visited in the area, that hasn't always been the case, so it was refreshing and welcoming. Before being seated, I asked to use the restroom. Unfortunately, the cleanliness issues continued there as well. What made this frustrating is that the restaurant itself wasn't dirty. The tables were spotless. The bar area looked great. It was the neglected areas that stood out. The stairs, the windowsills, the corners, and the restroom all felt like they needed a little extra attention. Honestly, I feel like one dedicated deep-cleaning day could dramatically improve the overall experience. These things make ir break an experience with a customer. Now, onto the food. I ordered the lobster poutine, and honestly, it was really good. I'd absolutely order it again. I'd give it a solid 7 out of 10. I also ordered a burger. It was beautiful when it arrived, but there were a few details that took away from the experience. The lettuce was a little spotty, there was visible dirt on the tomato, and the house-made chips were slightly burnt. Everything was edible, but those small details matter. There was also an uncomfortable interaction with another guest seated near me. I'm intentionally not making this review about that situation because it wasn't the restaurant's fault. However, it did add to an experience that already wasn't heading in a positive direction. Overall, I think this restaurant has tremendous potential. The location is fantastic, and there are moments where you can see what they're trying to create. Unfortunately, I don't plan to return. That said, I encourage others to experience it for themselves. Plenty of people seem to like this place, and you may have a completely different experience than I did. I sincerely wish the staff well because they were kind throughout my visit. I just think the restaurant has some opportunities to improve, and I hope they take advantage of them.
