    Seafood Chowder

BOTTOM LINE: Great - ahem - view of the lake and one of my favourite restos in town! There's also free wifi. View offers a great alternative to the Italian and grill house offerings you can find in abundance around town. Lots of nice salads, seafood and Eastern influences (e.g., enoki mushrooms wrapped in beef). Of course, they also had a wide selection of steaks and ribs. Located in the Delta hotel, it overlooks the lake, though I wish the restaurant were on the top floor for a better view. The prices were also much more reasonable than some of the other places in town and the service was friendly. The ROASTED RED PEPPER SOUP was freshly pureed and the serving size was twice what I had expected - nice! Topped with feta cheese and some arugula, it was a nice, hearty soup. I ordered their special MAHI MAHI which was served with a light flavoured curry glaze and pineapples over some roasted veggies and mashed potatoes (there was also the option to get it with basmati rice). This dish was easily the highlight of my trip up to the Sault! The fish was juicy and nicely browned, the curry was sweet and not overpowering and the pineapples really gave it some zest. I'm definitely coming back the next time I'm in town!

Don't get fooled that the restaurant is inside a hotel. It is a very good restaurant with a perfect setting on the water and an elegant yet simple decor. The servers and bartenders are friendly and attentive. The menu is a fine selection of items and they were all very good: well prepared and tasty. The NY strip with the addition of the steak medley was cooked to perfection, tasty and juicy. The cedar planked salmon had a nice walnut crust and came with pesto mashed potatoes, delicious. Note that the salmon has a little of a sweet flavor due to the honey butter. The Korean fire noodles were very different and tasty. We ordered it with the steak. Definitely a restaurant to recommend and come back!

Waited for almost 20 mins for our order to be taken and then 45 mins for our steaks to arrive. The steaks were barely warm and the mashed potatoes had a hardened shell from sitting so long. I would have just left but it was 8:00pm and we didn't want to go elsewhere. They should have told us the wait would be long so we could have made other plans. Cooking a steak doesn't take 45min and after 45 minutes you'd expect things to be hot, and not body temperature. SAD! Food I assume would have been ok...though hard to tell when it isn't hot. Here is a picture of my 1 hour old water that's not been refilled once

We chose this restaurant at the recommendation from the hotel staff that checked us in. We scoped out the menu to make a final decision and decided to try it. Everyone was friendly and welcoming. The hostess sat us by the window and we had a beautiful water view. Our server was Charlene. She was extremely knowledgeable about the menu and was attentive to us throughout our meal. Now for the food!! We started with Duck Bombs. They were delicious! We received some bread that was also tasty and hot! Tasted so fresh! My husband had Seafood Puttanesca as his main dish and he enjoyed every bite! It was full of seafood! I enjoyed the bacon wrapped filet. So tender. We didn't have room for dessert, but that looked amazing too. Our whole meal was enjoyable from start to finish. It was reasonably priced. No fancy wardrobe required. Oh and they have a full bar selection. Go get some and enjoy! Yum!

My husband and I drove out to Sault St Marie today for the weekend. I wanted to have a drink somewhere with a view, so I chose this restaurant with a very fitting name. Our server was very helpful in suggesting things to do around town and having special drinks made for us. I ordered the chicken marsala and my husband had bacon wrapped filet mignon. Both were delicious. The mash potato could use more salt though. We had the panna cotta for dessert and i wish I ordered two. Probably the best panna cotta ive had. I will come back next time we drive out this way.

When they have great people working and volunteering to make the club a wonderful place for their community. And when the food they serve is truly worth the trip, regardless of the destination. The walleye at the Elks is worthy of a trip regardless of everything else. After time in Hawaii, Miami, North Carolina, and San Francisco I have had some great fish; today I'm adding Sault Ste Marie's Elks Club (552) to my list of great fish places. The people working are committed to the club. And YES, the club was open to the public for dinner. Service was outstanding and many people are regulars / know each other which adds to the charm of the club - definitely small town in all the best ways. Cold beer at the bar, great fish (walleye), good fries and above average slaw made this a meal worth sharing. Friendly people serving, and checking on your service as well as the meal, even though they weren't our server but because they sincerely, genuinely care about us as customers is really unique and nice! Parking is easy. The view of the waterway is exceptional. The bar is old school. And a lot of fun. Yes, they have ship shots. You don't have to be a member of the Elks, but maybe it is something you should consider. Regardless, check out the Elks Club when it is open to the public, and ENJOY yourself!!!

"Lets go down to the Sunset Grill We can watch the working…read moregirls go by" (Don Henley) We enjoyed a lovely late dinner at the Macinack Grille on Saturday night July 27. We didn't have reservations, so picked up a buzzer from the hostess and joined the crowd waiting in the gift shop or lounging around at the entrance. Our wait was about a half hour, and we were seated in a rear dining room that should receive a Gold Medal for Eclectic Design. Our table was covered in laminated Detroit Tiger baseball cards, and the walls were plastered with beer company paraphernalia and Detroit sports memorabilia. Our server Aimy brought our meal -a Cheeseburger Platter ($11.99), and for me a cup of Clam Chowder ($4.49) and Shrimp Steamers ($14.99). My meal was excellent, the chowder was served piping hot and was loaded with chopped clams and potatoes. And man, oh man, were the shrimps great. They were a half pound served shell-on "Caribbean style" with lemon and cocktail sauce. Yes, they were messy to eat but were so worth the mess. Aimy helped me out with a few wet naps. We had an excellent experience here.

Ordered walleye, baked potato, fresh vegetables, and a glass of Riesling. Was served 3 real small pieces of some kind breaded deep fried fish, baked potato, a small condiment cup of coleslaw, and a glass of Pino Grigio. The waitress, while friendly enough, did not have a good grasp of the English language. And all for just under $50. This place is definitely not depending on repeat business. Compared to this, place, Long John Silvers is 5 star dining. Walked away hungry and $50 lighter. I won't be back.

When we first walked in they pointed to a table we were given for our reservation, didn't walk us to it, I thought it was odd but figured they were just busy. We ordered calamari to start, which was good, but the sauces were thrown on the plate in plastic cups with lids like you get for takeout. My husband ordered the ribs and wings, both were dried out and tough with very little meat. I ordered the 16oz NY strip medium and it was completely charred across the bottom and very tough. The only good thing was that my son loved the chicken Oscar. I believe the waitress may have been new, she was nice, but didn't seem to have any kind of rhythm or routine, disappeared for long periods of time and seemed uncomfortable having to talk to people. I'm not sure if maybe they're shortstaffed, but the food, quality, and level of service overall is lacking. This was our first experience here and unfortunately won't be back. The sad thing is we're not even super picky people, but we found the whole experience pretty disappointing. I usually like to give a place the benefit of the doubt and try again, but not at this price point.
