Less than zero stars. It's amazing how scam businesses work. My wife went there on the weekend and was quoted over $500. We declined because this guy must be crazy. Action Security Locksmiths on 142nd street did it for about $30. This is not a business with real costs. They must survive on scamming people who are desperate. Move on, don't even consider this company. read more

Don't use them. Paid $537.33 to get a new back door lock installed. Month's later, had to wiggle the door to unlock. Called Lock Surgeon and was told we only had a 1 month warranty. That the house probably shifted and I would need to pay a $130 service fee for the technician to come take a look. Funny, no other door or window "shifted", just supposedly the one they installed a lock in?! I'm going elsewhere to a company that warranties their work. Cash grab. Wish I would have read all these reviews previously. read more

I went to Lock Surgeon to get a replacement key made. But 545$ was more than I wanted to spen.So I had key cut without the security code in it,so it would open my doors only.Exactly what I wanted for 34.40.But they also deleted my code on my original key So for a month now I've had to unlock my door manually and lock my doors manuall. It's like they are punishing me for not spending the 545$.So don't ever them have your good key because it will never work remotely again Very disappointed in there service read more

I paid $35 for a key that doesn't even go in and decided to go to Expert Lock Services because I was in Sherwood Park and they charged me $7 for the same exact key that actually works!! read more

Price more than 3 time other locksmiths. I asked for a key to be cut, I had the blank, required the laser type of cut typical on newer cars, they said it would cost $160. I said that was to much and left. I checked with another supplier in Edmonton and they quoted $50. I went to Fozier's and they did it while I waited and it worked fine. Lock Surgeon also told me a complete new key was $585 where the local Chev dealers price is just over $250. Sounds like predatory pricing to me! read more

Came in for my trailer lock he told me I couldnt fix it and that a new one costs 200$ so I went to see if I could find something cheaper or something to fix it and guess what. I went on amazon and got a brand new one for 35 dollars. Such a ripoff do not support this business. read more

My garage door was not working properly. Tyler C came to my house and assessed the door noticing a few problems right away. The door had not been serviced since I got it in 2015. He knew what the issues were and proceeded to fix them. I told him I wanted a reliable door that opens and closes in all kinds of weather. He was knowledgeable and worked efficiently. I am very pleased with Lock Surgeon and especially with Tyler. Judy Shapka read more

Lock Surgeon - Keys & Locksmiths Near Me - Edmonton, Alberta

Pleasant enough technicians, but so overpriced and terrible warranty. We had a paddle door handle on our office door for 10 years that the tech tried to fix but could not. We paid $800 for a new paddle handle, key set and for him to fix up the door frame so the door closed properly. Not 2 months later, I got locked in my office and could not open the door! (had to get out by logging into our security system and unlocking the door through the software) I called to have someone come repair the next day and the next tech discovered that a set screw in the paddle handle had come loose. (10 second fix after disassembling the handle to determine the issue). I was charged $400 for this fix!!! No negotiation or absorption of ANY of the call out fee, shop supplies (a screwdriver and a dab of glue...$25!!). Too bad. They've gotten all the $ out of me that they will ever get. No repeat customers for this company. Bad, bad business practices! read more

On July 9/24 lock surgeon showed up at my Castletown's home to change a coded door lock that wasn't working properly, so I thought that was the problem. I knew ahead of time it would be a $145.00 service call which I had no issue with. Justin the service rep checked things out and said it was my hinges that needed replaced as the door was out of line. Having a service truck there I assumed he would have the 3 hinges required. In his truck he had one hinge, and he wanted $30.00 for each hinge, and wanted $125.00 to go back and get the other 2 hinges. To replace the hinges and go retrieve the ones that should have been in the truck plus the service call the total bill would have been $722.00 for 3 hinges. At these ridiculous prices the rep must have really been a SURGEON. I had a friend of mine who is pretty handy come and take a look, and he spent 30-45 minutes fixing the door after I went to Nelson Lumber and picked up 4 hinges (came in 2 per package) and paid $28.00 for the 4 hinges. I have no idea how this company stays in business when I'm sure they only get one chance for service work. No one in their right mind would ever call them back again. Hopefully this review saves you wasting your time calling Lock Surgeons and save you a $145.00 service call just to piss you off. Next time send out an Intern rather than a Surgeon you might get some work. Anthony Quinn/ very dissatisfied read more

I was locked out of my safe and called lock surgeon. Patrick was very helpful Thank you got our safe unlocked in 2 minutes

This was the most exploitive service I have ever had! Lock surgeon charged me $475 to replace a door knob and give me a key.$The $135 fee to show up was unavoidable, I had to use a locksmith to get into my garage as the old door knob was attached to a nonworking security service. However! It was simply a matter of taking off the door knob, and putting on a working door knob. They responded to my review by saying I should be ashamed to ask a journeyman locksmith to show up and do a job for almost nothing. $475 is almost nothing? Shame on you Lock Surgeons!! read more

I had to get some keys cut for work and I had driven by Lock Surgeon many times but never stopped in. Lock Surgeon was closer to my work than the hardware stores so I thought I would try them. I needed seven keys cut total. I needed two different styles of keys cut. I brought in the samples keys and waited while they cut they keys. I did not have to wait too long before the keys were ready. The staff that helped me was friendly and courteous. The best part is when I tired the keys they all worked. We had keys cut previously at another business previously and not all the keys worked. I would get keys cut here again because they seem to have a huge selection of nonstandard keys. read more

Ridiculously overpriced. Had someone come out to help us out with our front door that hadn't been sealing great. Now, after having the worker here for 1.5 hours and receiving a bill of $500 (!!!), our door seals worse than ever before and they won't even consider a refund of any kind. Worst service and company. Never again. read more

Service was done with a smile. They were knowledgeable about and. Courteous and prompt completing my request.

I was impressed by the technician but utterly shocked by the "add on" sneaky invoice and the games played, I had 2 doors done with weather strips, and when done they manipulated the invoice into $809.00!!! Get a quote before even letting these guys even enter your yard. read more

Fast service, extremely overpriced. We all make mistakes. I happened to lock my keys in my car of course on the one day I had my daughter with me at work for the day. My boss called this company on my behalf since they were the closest to our company. They arrived quickly, got my car open fast (my daughter was fine, just upset), then told me it was $70 for unlocking the car and a whopping $150 service call fee (not based off distance). My office is a 3 minute drive (2 kms) from this location. A simple instant mistake cost me $220. My biggest mistake was calling this company in the first place. They didn't even tell me price before they unlocked me car. Stay away and tell your friends! read more

Avoid this business and take your hard earned money elsewhere. If you need a chipped key for your vehicle, go to the dealership instead! In support of local businesses, my husband and I decided to use Lock Surgeon (without seeing any of the reviews or doing research before deciding to do business with them). We needed a second key for an older vehicle (no other place such as HomeDepot, Lowes or Part Source could make). Lock Surgeon told us due to it having a chip that needs to be programmed with the cutting of the key it would cost us $148.00 (before tax). After just finding a place that could actually make the key, we agreed. Later, it was told to us by a family member, dealerships can make vehicle keys. We did not know that until after the key was made and paid for. Dealerships tend to be more expensive but we called for a quote out of curiosity. The same key with a chip and programmed was quoted for $82.95 (before tax). We were surprised with the large price hike from Lock Surgeon. We know small businesses pricing tends to be higher than the larger companies in order to survive but this was almost double the price! This was not an emergency call out nor any of their service technicians arrived at our home. The price was just the key made and programmed at their West location. Noticing on the invoice receipt, they had a statement stating, "All returns are subject to a 20% restocking fee". There was no fine print stating any exclusions or specifics of what can or cannot be returned. We felt we had a chance of getting some of our money back, getting the key made at the dealership with money left over. Calling the west end company at 730am, explaining what we had just found out, the dispatcher just took my name and said a technician would call me back. No call back. So I called. Spoke with a technician who already sounded irate after I talked about returning the key and reminded him of the "All returns..." statement on the invoice, he just went on saying, 'What am I going to do with the key?, it's made and programmed'. I finally just let that go. I began to remind him that the pricing is almost double the price than if it was made at the dealership. As a gesture of good faith, I asked if they would be able to match the price as to be comparable as the dealership somehow? He stood on the fact that the owners are quite firm in the their pricing, basically there was nothing I could do or say to change his or the owners mind. All this time, his tone and voice was rude and obnoxious. So, I just said, " Well, you will be seeing another bad review on Google" and hung up. My husband called, left his name and number to have one of the owners to call him back. There was no call back and we had waited a few days already. And now I decided to start writing my review today. Lock Surgeon at the West Edmonton location is rated the LOWEST and has the MOST reviews from any other locksmith in the city on Google Reviews. With low ratings in Yelp as well. Their second location in the city is rated the second lowest. The Better Business Bureau (BBB) has stated on their website "Current Alerts For This Business", which you can read more complaints about this business and their business practices that they were investigated for. 1 star ratings is not only a platform for the many angry and disgruntled customers who felt justly wronged. It's a WARNING TO ALL. It's customers who felt were treated unfairly, who was a subject of fraud, who felt they were taken. It's about the hard earned money that each of us make everyday, taken by a deceptive company, who has no conscience and no regard of the working class. Their business model is flawed. They do no care about customer service or over price products they sell. They care not of repeat customers or the good nature of helping out their community, with just being honest and fair. One positive reviewer stated "..a great example of SERVICE WITH A SMILE"- yeah, they're smiling alright, that they just taken advantage of you, knowingly and at your own expense! read more

Professional, friendly, cleaned up. Had them come to my home and make keys to my tool box and desk. They also fixed my front door. Works perfect now. I attempted to discuss job specifics prior to booking. I was assured by carry a wide variety of products and the staff didn't seem interested in continuing the conversation. Of course when they arrived they didn't have the materials needed. One door would need custom parts. The other lock would need a trip back to the store to get a better color match with extra travel time charged to me. I called to explain my dissatisfaction and was met with defensiveness and justification. In this case. The customer is never right For a simple deadbolt installation a cost close to $500. Too much for me. I was stuck with the service charge of $167. They took off the hourly fee charge. read more

Pros: They are quick to come to your house - I had an emergency situation where I needed my locks changed and they came within the hour. The person who came to change our locks was very kind and professional. However, Two major CONS to Lock Surgeon is the locks themselves, AND their poor customer service in handling telephone inquires. THIS IS MAJOR: LOCK SURGEON HAS SPECIAL KEYS You cannot get your keys cut anywhere else anymore for $2, you need to go to lock surgeon and pay their jacked up prices for keys. They tell you that this is an "extra security measure", but lets be real - THE KEYS SAY LOCK SURGEON ON THEM. Anyone could take one look at the key and take it to Lock Surgeon. It's not really an extra security measure that someone could take one look at a key that says Lock Surgeon on it and take it to Lock Surgeon to get it cut. Not exactly an extra security measure, just a way to ensure that people keep coming to Lock Smith to pay thousands of dollars for these keys. I now have to drive out of the way to get my keys cut. NO ONE told me that their keys could not be cut anywhere else, I would have reconsidered using this company had I known it was going to be such an ordeal to get a key cut. Secondly, whoever answered my questions on the phone was seriously STUNNED. She had no idea that she worked for Lock Surgeon because she had zero answers for me other than "Well we are closed right now I can't help you!" I wasn't planning on coming in, I just wanted a few answers to my questions. Just so unhelpful. So would I recommend using Lock Surgeon? In an absolute emergency situation I would say yes, they are relatively quick to get the job done (in my experience). The sales and customer service after the job is done is questionable. read more

They have extremely poor customer service. I called in for warranty work they claim they have no way to look up my file by phone number company name address or any other means. I have to find their invoice which I will have in my company records but it's ridiculous they can't look it up in their system. They also refused to send out another tech other than the one that came out originally which is why I need to find my invoice apparently. They more or less refused to send out another technician or they will charge you. I would highly recommend everybody avoid these people. They were extremely snarky and uncooperative. If I could give zero or negative stars I would. read more

Stay away from these fraudsters: Got intentionally misquoted, over-charged, lied to not once, not twice but three times by the same phone operator. Did I say over-charged? Not to mention the automatic 5% "shop-supplies" fee where no shop supplies were ever used. Plus they showed up 45 minutes late. 2 minute job, $200...took longer to write the invoice, than the actual job itself. At the end I am to blame as I did not read the reviews on Yelp or Google beforehand. Did I say never, ever again? read more

Overcharged and terrible customer service. Was billed 1.5 hours for a 45 minute visit. Called to the office to correct this and was given an email address. Automatic email reply was that they would respond to my concern WITHIN 20 BUSINESS DAYS. 25 business days later - still no response. Send a second email - get the same automated response - 20 business days! It's now been 6 weeks, so call the office again and was told that I'd be put through to Customer Service. Instead, I get a five minute sales pitch about how great their technicians are (they're so great that the auto close door Kevin B 'fixed' now doesn't close on it's own). At the end of the recording, after not talking to a human, I'm instructed again to send them an email! A call back to the main # is met with "that's not my department". Brutal. Stay away. read more

The biggest crooks and liars around! Told us one price and gave us something totally different and charged over 5x more that told to us. Paul came and did a good job, but the $195 fee just for showing up was never disclosed to us, then the $149 for labour, plus the $75 lock that doesn't even match the other door hardware. zero stars!!! disgusting code of business practice. not until they arrive on site do they disclose that there is an immediate $149 charge whether you accept the estimate or not. it apparently is solely the consumers problem to ask how much an estimate or minimum charge is! no other businesses do this and get away with it. they threaten small claims if you don't pay the $149. rita at dispatch has her speech memorized how it's a me problem. how the consumer is solely responsible for sling yet a contract must have two parties!!!! total charge was $430 to have a new key made for a filing cabinet for a not for profit charity organization!!! never have i ever experienced something like this. never ever would i recommend lock surgeon. read more

Just had 3 keys cut. 47.09...... Ridiculous could have had done anywhere else for less than half that price. I would avoid using them. They are more expensive than competing locksmiths and charge a staggering $223.50 service call to show up on evenings and weekends.
