The Lock Keeper sits in a gorgeous riverside spot with a massive beer garden taking full advantage of the location. Serving lunch and dinners, it's a great place for pub grub in a semi-rural location that feels far removed from busy Bristol. You can enjoy afternoon tea or coffee by the river Avon, while in the evening the menu features pub classics such as steak and ale pie, chilli, and Ploughman's Lunch - and all their fish dishes use fresh rather than frozen fish.
Originally called the White Hart, this place started out as a residential house whose occupier started brewing beer using water from the river and a nearby well. Later, he opened up his kitchen to drinkers and it became an alehouse!
Today this is a popular pub with live music nights, regular summer barbecues in the beer garden, and a Petanque pitch that you can hire for free, and which hosts the Brunel League. It's a place to spend a lazy summer afternoon with a cold beer out in the beer garden, listening to the river below. read more
