We ate there on Wednesday night and had an amazing dinner. We shared the crabcakes and raved about how fresh the salad was. We even decided to go back on Thursday. However, Thursday was a complete disaster. I ordered the trigger fish special, but was brought grouper that was overcooked and very dry. I'd also ordered it without the sauce and the sauce was on the fish. My companion also had very dry trigger fish. However, he actually got the trigger fish. I wasn't sure why my fish was switched out in the kitchen and why I was not told. I pointed it out to the waitress and she did say that it looked a lot like grouper and wasn't sure why it was switched out. I originally was going to order a steak that was online on the website menu,only to learn that they no longer have that cut of meat. The waitress also let me know that they haven't updated the website in the menu on that website for quite some time. I would not recommend it or go back to this restaurant. read more

I usually have a good experience at Locals Dockside. However, on May 24, 2025 we had a party of 15 celebrating my daughter's 25th birthday. The fried food was way too salty to the point of some being inedible. I called to make a complaint and spoke first to Brittany. She took my information and shortly afterwards Chad, the kitchen manager returned my call. I explained to him my complaints and he apologized and said he was having trouble with kitchen staff and that he's fired some people because of low performance. He said that the next time I come in to ask for him but he refused to compensate me for the bad food I received. I have spent over $500 in this establishment in the last two months. April 11, 2025 I spent $183.50. On May 11, 2025 I spent $55.00 and on May 24, 2025 I spent $354.68. I am a loyal customer but I will never go back to this establishment ever again. Also my two friends and I go there monthly for our monthly outing but we'll have to find another restaurant. I am very disappointed. They could have at the very least, given me a percentage off on my next visit. I am not happy I do have bank receipts for the other two visits but not the actual paper receipts. read more

We stopped in Kingsland for the night on our way to Folkston GA. The hotel gave us a list of local restaurants and we selected Locals Seafood in nearby St Mary's GA. It was an absolute pleasure dining there!! The food was delicious and the portions were great! The ambiance was comfortable and welcoming. The price was reasonable and the service for amazing!! This will be our new favorite restaurant every time we travel that way! We love that area so we will definitely be there again soon! read more

This place is amazing. I almost forgot how good grilled scallops are supposed to taste. They melted in your mouth and perfectly seasoned. I sampled Shrimp Alfredo and fried oysters on other family members plates and everything was outstanding! If I lived at St Mary's I would be eating here on a regular basis. Holy cow! The food and service were outstanding . We spent the day on Cumberland Island , and got off the ferry starving and dehydrated . Were immediately seated and Stevie our server came right over . We each had a draft beer , and house grilled shrimp and fish dinners with hearty and delicious sides. My husband and I went In for dinner at around 8:30 and were seated almost immediately. Our waitress Kimmi, was outstanding. The entire time it felt like we were being catered to by a friend who genuinely wanted us to have a good experience. She made excellent recommendations (the seafood pasta was amazing), and made sure to check on us every 10-15 minutes. I would go back just for her. Based on other reviews, I would say that they are reading them and they are trying to improve. Will be back for sure. read more

Went here the day before Valentines day with some family from out of town. They were busy, and appeared to be understaffed, but they seated our party of four quickly. That's where it all went to pot. We sat there, unattended, for a good half hour with our menus, just being ignored. In this time, we noticed that customers who'd entered the restaurant after us were seated, and were receiving their drinks and appetizers already. That tends to get under your skin as a diner. They eventually took our order, and it was another good 20 minutes before drinks arrived. The food finally arrived about another 20 minutes later. I ordered a Ceasar Salad with Chicken. The chicken looked good, but was criminally over-salted, and was just not edible. The "salad" was a dry pile of romaine lettuce chunks, rather on the stalky side, with some shredded parmesan cheese on it. There was no dressing of any kind, and no dressing was provided on the side. Another in my party had the shrimp fettuccine, and reported that it was really good. He ate the entire thing. Another in the party had the shrimp and grits, and it was way too salty and just was not good. The child in the party didn't complain about the corndog and mac and cheese they had. We mentioned the food deficiencies to the waitress, and she was very apologetic and did remove the charge for the inedible salad from our bill. After an experience like this, it's pretty unlikely that we'd return. It's sad that St. Marys, such a charming little town, has so few options for restaurants. read more

What a nice surprise! My sister-in-law and I arrived for a late lunch and it was not busy. I ordered blackened trigger fish with coleslaw and it was Tasty and fresh. Good-sized helping, too. She enjoyed the Alfredo pasta and added fried shrimp. It was a huge serving with melt-in-mouth tender shrimp. We enjoyed the spacious indoor seating as it was a steamy hot day, but the deck would provide an even better view of the stunning river and marsh. read more

Went there on 5/22/24. On the waterfront with large picture windows. Service was great, food delicious. I had the Western bacon cheeseburger. It was cooked to my request, delicious and I would guess almost a half pound. If I get back to St. Mary's, I will be back! read more

Service is slow. They tried their best and even with their promises that things are on the way, there are even more delays. I've tried this place 3 times in total with the same result. I don't blame the servers, the bar tenders, but that kitchen staff needs to tighten up. The beer was great and coming for trivia is always fun though! read more

We were in town visiting family . Used to ear here years ago when it was a different name. Most of us had the fried red snapper, it was the fish of the day! It was great. Fresh and the real deal ! Grits and Cheesegrits , fries , slaw , asparagus. It was all good. They were fairly busy for a Wednesday night. Not many empty tables. Our server was on point . Always checked on us when she walked by , always topped off the drinks! Great experience. I hope they keep it up the good food and service bcz i think our experience was 5 stars for sure !! Started off by waiting ten minutes to even get acknowledged. Food was okay. They were very accommodating to switching out sides. Our server Stevie was absolutely amazing. They other staff looked like chickens with their heads cut off. Unfortunately our stake toasted sour... like bad meat. When we got our food it was cold. Nothing was cooked the way we asked. Really the two stars are for Stevie. We at outside and we discovered a black tank was getting pumped out under the dock.... So smelly and inside was very cold. I went into this restaurant to take supper home to Statesboro. The staff treated me very well. Got my order very quickly. And got me on my way. 2 and a half hours later, finally got home. My wife loved the shrimp and grits very much. It was still relatively warm. It was so good that I got in trouble for not try other things from the menu!! A very good experience indeed!! read more

Great little local place with amazing food and great service! Went for lunch and got sat right away with no wait. I got the crab bisque with peel and eat shrimp and it has been the best shrimp I've had around here so far. Crab bisque was delicious but a bit on the spicier side. Highly recommend the shrimp poboy. My boyfriend got that and said it's the best he's had. We sat outside on the patio to see the water and they even had rotating fans to help with the heat! I was too full for dessert but they had fresh desserts inside a case towards the front that looked amazing. read more

Came here while visiting a relative who lives in the area and was very disappointed with our experience. Service was terrible - we had to physically leave our table to get the waitress to take our order. Never received a drink refill. Took forever to actually receive our food and when we did, it was terrible. One of us didn't receive a crab cake that we ordered, another was given a salad that they didn't order (or want), another had a steak that wasn't cooked according to their order and my shrimp was terribly over-seasoned to the point that I didn't finish them. The only meal that was cooked correctly was my daughters which was chicken strips and fries. Flies were everywhere so we had to get up and turn the outdoor fan on because our waitress was nowhere to be found. The view was nice and that is literally the only reason I'm giving this place 2 stars. read more

In the area on travel. Restaurants by the I95 were not good. Went to the river and found this gem. Great view. Great location and had great server at the bar (Kay). I am a sucker for great service and she made me feel like the only customer I the place. Order sear tuna appetizer first. Seared and seasoned to perfection. Great start. For dinner I skipped the great special "all you can eat shrimp" and the catch of the day snapper but saw many people enjoying both. I opted for the grilled chicken breast with asparagus and side of sweet tater fried( yup they were waffle fries too!). Everything was amazing. People were real and drinks were cold. We spend our annual Turkey Day vacation in the area and this was our first trip to St. Mary's. We decided to give a few local spots a try and this one does not disappoint! I got the seafood platter and it was cooked perfectly!!! It is so easy to ruin seafood but the kitchen staff showed out!!! The service was good but the staff members all seemed "awkward", if that makes sense. They were pleasant but they didn't really have much going for them, as far as personality goes. Maybe they were relatively new and haven't figured it all out yet. Either way, we'll be back!! read more

It was nice to see some updating of the old Lang's restaurant in St. Marys. The appetizers, and food were great. Service was pretty good even during a busy time. Locals informed us that they had changed their hours a few days before, however nothing was posted on the website when we checked it. Although I would love to talk about our dishes it is unfortunately over shadowed by the theft we incurred.  Disappointing especially after the nice tip I left in $2 bills .  Last day of our trip to the Orange Bowl.  Once home while checking our expenses I noticed the charge at the bank was different from my receipt. I called the Locals Dockside & the manager said it was a "discrepancy of the server" and said she would put the money in the mail immediately. What a great Valentines Day! Granted this wasn't the low lights with amazing wine, white tablecloths and over the moon flowers, but the food was down home delicious prepared by Ryan, the service was spot on by sweet Jess and our bourbon manhattans were amazingly prepared by Sam! We really enjoyed our night away from home with a group of nice people that really cared about whether we were having a great experience. We were the last table seated on a night they were normally closed and the "team" took much care to ensure we enjoyed our evening and were taken care of. Our pistachio salmon & filet mignon were perfectly prepared. When they ran out of dessert, Ryan came up with a delicious warm apple crisp with vanilla ice cream. We had a great experience here at Locals! We had Dolores as our waitress and she was so amazing! Very attentive and very friendly! We sat outside and was able to enjoy the water view. Even though we where the only ones outside she still never left us without checking in. She brought waters out right away just after sitting down. We had the crab stuffed mushrooms ,they were a bit small, but they were very tasteful! I had the surf and turf ribeye with scallops ! Steak cooked perfectly and the scallops tender. My husband had the seafood pasta and it was also very fresh and tasty! I recommend this place for sure! We will for sure will be back. Sorry no pics to share . read more
