Even though Mville doesn't have a YES :-( , I was surprised not to see any reviews for this place…read more After having driven by the place at least 40 times since I moved here, and Google has a lot of (42) reviews, with a 4.9 rating, I figured I'd give 'em a try. I've always been one to file early. And, even if I owe taxes, I defer paying until the last possible moment. But, if I am entitled to a refund, I want those $ ASAP! ;-) Well, I called yesterday afternoon, and was able to get the requested appointment for 1:00 the next afternoon. As is habit for me, I arrived about 7 minutes early. Despite a couple of chairs in need of reupholstering, the lobby and customer waiting area was clean and comfortable. The front desk receptionist was polite, and cordial. I was called in promptly at 1:00. And, my CPA, Katie, escorted me to her office. I found Katie to be professional, yet friendly. For 2019, I had to, and in addition to Federal, file both Arizona and Georgia returns. So, the cost was a bit higher than normal. Though, next year, it will be $50.00 lower. Since I had all the required documents, it took about 35 minutes for Katie to input everything. Now, the cost of tax preparing and filing, is higher than the chain places. But, over all, I think it's worth the extra expense because each CPA has their own private office.

My husband, Max, and I have used Pettigrew and Pettigrew for years and years. I think David is gone…read morenow and the place is run by his son, Derek. This week I discovered that copies of my filed 2020 tax return and all my original documents, which I hand delivered, are lost in the mail since April 7th. After making several telephone calls for my tax records Pettigrew sent me copies this week. When I got the second filing package I learned that all my original documents NOT used in my standard deduction tax filings. So they were not copied. Soo I have nothing of them at all. Property tax forms and medicals. Who ever has the First package knows everything about everything regarding our personal business. Too bad for me. Derek told me himself that Pettigrew & Pettigrew, CPA's have no fiduciary responsibility to my original documents other than put them in the mail to me. I was under a misconception that they had to use all means necessary to keep my documents safe. Every year prior my personal confidential financial documents were returned by USPO priority or Fed Ex. Not this year. And I guess never again. It is my hope that my documents will eventually be returned to their office or that the documents are under someone's blotter or misfiled. Anything but missing wherein a third party Identity Thief could get hold of them. So, when you deal with sensitive documents make sure the people you turn them over to will use the highest and best methods available to safekeep them and return them to you. If I had not called and called Pettigrew's office I would not know today what happened to mine. An apology would have been nice even if not sincere. If I ever get my original documents back I will revise this review. Until then, be careful out there.
