Went to local feed with a group of friends to celebrate my friend's birthday. Had a reservation but still waited a bit (another table was hanging out). Sat down and was immediately greeted which was nice. I ordered the rum punch, fried fish (I can't remember the type), a side of biscuits, and carrot cake for dessert. Everything was okay, not terrible but not spectacular either. The fish was a bit salty (and over fried in my opinion) and the carrot cake was small (could've had more of a carrot flavor and spices). The rum punch was the best thing I had but other people seemed to really enjoy their food. The placement of the daily specials was a bit hard to see from our seats. So this was the best idea I've had in a long time. Stopped here after many traffic delays on i75 northbound, figuring I needed and deserved a glass of wine and a nice dinner. I got an immediate seat at the bar and excellent treatment from the bartenders, who knew how to make a weary woman dining alone feel Normal. Loved the pork chop and grits with the fresh tomato salad. This place is worth a side trip and I'm coming back with a couple of daughters who who want to do the bourbon trail with me someday. Excellent service, great vibe and a lot of fun! read more

After hearing how good this place was we gave it a try. Spoon bread and the biscuits were very dry. The fried chicken did not have any flavor. Some seasoning in the d breading would be my recommendation. The collards need seasoning also. The Mac n cheese was very good and the Bibb salad was the best thing we had. When it came time to pay the check we were told that an 18% tip was added for groups of 6 or more. We had 4 adults and 2 kids 5 and under don't think that qualifies as a party of 6. Oh well since I normally tip 20% it save me some money. We love trying the locally owned places and try to give them an honest opinion so as to help them improve. read more

My husband and I are on our 1st vacation in 7 years. My husband is a foodie. He LOVES food. We were trying all local establishments while on our vacation and he found this one. My husband did an outstanding job finding this little Gem. The skillet of cornbread with sorghum butter was Aaamazing!!! The Fried chicken, was THE BEST I ever had, and I LOVE fried chicken, the lemon maple carrots were Awesome, and the whipped potatoes were delicious. My husband had the Ham chop, weisenburger grits, red eyed gravy, fried onion. We sat in the bar area and Adam was amazing. Thank you so much for a wonderful meal and a memorable time. Farm to table, locally sourced food. Farmhouse chic decor, historic brick exposed building. We had reservations for 8 and we were seated promptly, our waitress was friendly and helpful. Service throughout was excellent. We started with skillet cornbread, biscuits and deviled eggs. My favorite was the deviled eggs but all three were great starters to share around the table. I ordered to drink, a Sazerac, which came the way I had hoped (Herbsaint, Sazerac Rye, Peychauds bitters and Demerara) a nice classic. Also, I sampled from the table, an old fashioned (Elijah Craig small batch bourbon) and Hellfire & Limestone (Nulu Bourbon and some heat with habanero and ginger) depending on your taste - both were very good! The craft cocktails seemed consistently good. For dinner, I had the chicken n' dumplings, which tasted like it came right off my grandmothers stove. Excellent dish, broth was flavorful, dumplings were savory, perfectly done and there was no skimping on the veggies and extra chicken. A few other dishes to mentioned, beef stroganoff, so yum! Crème Fraiche, nutmeg and mushrooms, simple yet so full of delicious mouth watering flavor. Specials offered and ordered at the table, were - hanger steak (cooked with blu cheese, this dish did have that little punch in flavor so if your not into blu cheese, might not be the dish for you) steak was tender, flavorful and nicely prepared to temp. Another special was, duck with vanilla smashed yams and Brussels. The duck was tender, melty, simply delightful and I'd even go as far to say, would have converted a duck meat skeptic. Let me start by saying that if could give Local Feed a 10 we would. This place is fantastic and very well worth the drive from Lexington or Louisville. Looking from the outside the restaurant is quite unassuming. But as soon as we walked in the door we were thrilled. The ambience is very chic and very inviting. There is lots cozy energy happening all around that is just inviting you in. The standard menu is pretty straight forward and the daily specials added some exciting options. We wanted to order it all. Instead we ordered a variety of small plates, sides and an entree to split. They were all GREAT. The highlight was the mac & cheese - it was the best mac & cheese ever! The chicken & dumplings were just soooo good - big chunks of veggies, chicken and the most flavorful dumplings you could imagine. Others dishes were carrots, brussel sprouts, and buttermilk biscuits... they were all on point as well. The biscuits were fresh out of the oven and the veggies tasted fresh from the farm. Of course we tried dessert. We got the blackberry cobbler and ice cream. YUM!!!! They did it again! However, the ambiance is nice, the food is artistically prepared and amazing, and the drinks/special bourbons are great. An outstanding local place in Georgetown. We had several meals here during our several week visit to the area, They serve breakfast all day, have a good variety of steaks - the ribeye I had the first night off their specials menu was one of the best steaks I've ever had including ones at top steakhouses. Make sure you check out the specials, we had a couple if them and they were all great. Only negative I'd say was the collards are a bit too sweet for my taste, but if you add a fair amount of their house made hot sauce they are pretty good. Don't be fooled by the unassuming facade for inside you will find heavenly, culinary delights backed by finely, handcrafted cocktails. The interior is warm and rustic with exposed brick and wood accents. Our attention was drawn to the three appetizers for $18. Paired with creamy, deviled eggs, the roasted brussels sprouts with chèvre were delicious. However it was the pâté platter that blew us away! Velvety goose, duck and chicken pâté was served with tasty accoutrements including a zesty, blackberry jam and crunchy baguette slices. I'll start with the one positive dish. The Maple Chile Chicken and Waffles was good, but that's where it ends. As an appetizer, we ordered the skillet cornbread with Sorghum Butter. The butter was tasty, but the cornbread lacked any flavor whatsoever. My wife ordered the catfish. The fish was OK, but the sauce was not good and the coleslaw tasted like straight onion. I got one of the "Special" sides of the day, the Crispy Fingerling Potatoes with Tarragon Aioli. Being one that eats with my eyes first, the potatoes looked like a science project gone wrong and didn't taste any better, and lacked any crisp at all. When I expressed my disappointment with the potatoes, our server admitted that they had fixed them for the staff to try and no one really liked them!? My visit to the Local Feed was on Sunday and quite frankly was by accident. My wife and I were traveling to Tennessee and had the opportunity to meet our daughters at a midway point so we selected the Local Feed not knowing much except for the pretty solid reviews and it had a full bar, so all of our requirements were met. Unfortunately or Fortunately the only offering was their brunch, really the biggest downside was I wasn't planning on paying $30 a head + tax and tip per head, especially for 3 females who are about as much as a McDonalds Happy meal. The quality of the food was good but selection was a bit limited. The peach bread pudding with homemade whip cream was outstanding but the only desert or sweet option. The self proclaimed best bartender in the land was pretty solid ( not sure about the best but well above average) and made some tasty cocktails and was prompt in his service. read more

Mediocre at best. Yes the food is local and fresh and you can tell. The chicken and dumplings portion was large and I couldn't finish it. The meatloaf was the perfect portion as well and the mashed potatoes were perfectly seasoned. The inside is very unique and historic. However, the lighting is on the dim side. The reason for the 2 stars: *the dumplings were too salty, the dough mixture *the vegetables in the dumplings were to large to eat in one bite. The carrots were bigger than the spoon. You had to figure out how to cut them in a bowl. Good luck with that. I get the whole rustic type meal, but seriously learn how to dice the vegetables small enough so your patrons can eat them. *the broth of the dumplings was kinda bland except for the overpowering flavor and smell of chicken fat. *the meatloaf was overly sweet *the deviled eggs contained too much mustard. *They bring out water in a mason jar for you. It's a nice feature. However, you do have to pour it yourself and it tastes like it is straight out of the faucet. It's cool, not cold, and has no ice. Now for the service: was seated promptly, didn't need a reservation at the time we went in. The waitress was polite, but didn't go into much depth on the specials. We were told they were written on the chalkboard and she left. Another couple came in who were more dressed up than we were, and they received a full explanation of the specials. Now usually I am not petty, but this just didn't sit well with me. Later I had to ask for a refill and she brought me another glass and before I could finish the first glass she takes it away. Didn't ask if I was gonna finish it, still at least a third full. Cute place. Love the brick. Very friendly staff. We tried several things. The lemon carrots were great! Along with the meatballs. The Brussels were slightly saltier than I'd prefer. The poached egg was over done. The meatloaf is too sweet and salty. My boyfriend loved the mashed potatoes. We couldn't eat the greens because they were overly salted. The biscuits, jam and butter were lovely. Finally, the crème brûlée had separated and wasn't the creamy consistency it should be. Almost looked curdled. I guess I was expecting more. read more

Local Feed is a great spot for a meal in Georgetown. While visiting family they suggested this spot for a weekend brunch, so we went to check it out. The decor is farmhouse industrial. It's cute, though the seating isn't very comfortably since they have metal chairs. It's located just off the main drag of downtown Georgetown, so it's very accessible. It's in a historic building, which is really cool. I looked it up after we dined here and according to their website, the building was originally constructed in the 1890's as the ice house, across the street from Royal Spring, where Elijah Craig is said to have pulled water to first make bourbon. How cool is that? The food is a farm-to- table concept, and it shows in their menu and daily specials. We were visiting for brunch, so we opted for the Biscuits and Sausage Gravy and Sausage Hash with a side of Bacon. My sister-in-law had Waffles, and I tasted her dish as well. Everything was pretty good! They didn't have my favorite gravy, so I likely won't order that dish again, but I would love to return for dinner, and to check out more of their bar! Prior to leaving I walked to the back of the space to look at the bar. Since we were there for brunch we weren't really drinking, but the bar looked extensive, and I wanted to look closer. I actually ended up having a great conversation with the bartender. They have a great bourbon list and what sound like some fantastic craft cocktails. The bartender brought down some really awesome bourbon bottles for me to check out. This spot houses many interesting older bottles, some in great shapes and with great labels. We came across this gem while passing through Georgetown KY. I hate to say I didn't take any photographs but will do my best to describe our time. First, the ambiance is fitting for the setting. A quaint town with lots of history and character surrounded by gently rolling farmland. It's clear most are proud of their town, especially the team at Local Feed. Fresh, Farm-to-Table food that is prepared like my mother's Clay County inspired kitchen. We enjoyed everything we ordered for brunch... First time here. I had a couple specials (appetizers). Their version of poutine and fish and mussel soup. Both were really good. I finished it off with the Apple streusel with butter pecan ice cream. This is one of those places you see on the cooking shows. I think this is my new favorite restaurant. You can actually enjoy the flavor of the food. The staff is knowledgeable and they have a decent bar menu. I docked a star for consistency. We've ordered the same dishes and they come out a little different each time.
