You are immediately greeted on entry by the hosts, the service is quick and efficient and they do a pretty good house Shiraz. There is a great selection of "pub classics" on the menu and l can definitely recommend the bangers and mash with onion rings on the side. The food is always served quickly and piping hot.

Tomato bruschetta literally was 2 pieces of bread with a pile of tomato and some shavings of basil and the curry pie, although lovely, came with a very simple lettuce and tomato salad. Coffee and tea was lovely though and I'd love to see more afternoon teas here to really twee up the Avalon Downton Abbey experience. With a little tweaking of the formula and simplifying the lunch menu to high teas, with more of their home made cakes, scones and desserts this place can really ham up the out of town experience for us city folk in an enjoyable way.

Apart from the fact that they serve excellent coffee, accompanied with mouth watering cakes, with a good kitchen and chef. As you dine inside or alfresco, your eyes will feast on, antique French style furniture (painted), many and various old and unusual objects. All for sale at very reasonable prices. Thus creating a very relaxing ambience, as you wander about viewing so many interesting items. This venue would be an ideal place for a wedding, and I understand larger group bookings are essential.

All guests, even the children were enjoying what Anderson Hills has to offer, a down to earth family winery experience. Not only is the wine and beer great, the menu is something that I will be back for as well. They offer wood oven pizzas, awesome sliders, and chutney & cheese platter. For the wine connoisseurs, please take note of the sauvignon blanc. It is quite unique in taste for the Adelaide Hills. Quite subtle and not as bitter as the rest. So for the first time in what must be 30 years, the question must again be asked, who has the best Chinese takeaway food in the hills? Balhannah is definitely in contention, I swear the same lady has been working there for at least 5 years so there's clearly some experience there. The location is pretty good. There's generally some pretty convenient parking available right outside. And the dine-in setting isn't terrible, with big windows looking out on the Balhannah main street. Plus they've got a byo alcohol licence, and the pub's next door. So you can totally have your fav pinot noir with your black bean beef. The food is also pretty good. The special fried rice is around the standard you'd hope for. One of my fav Chinese Australian dishes is sweet and sour pork. They do this quite well, I've had some shockers before. Also, just incase you weren't sure about value for money the prices aren't super cheap, but a large order does get you complimentary prawn crackers! Value! If Balhannah can be consistent, this could definitely be the best of hills Chinese food.
