It was a Sunday morning the first week in February. I noticed that this place opened at 6:00 am. I went there around 6:15am, no customers yet, and they we're open and the donut cases we're full. Ordered a selection of donuts, cronuts and Kolache's. All we're delicious. Especially the cronuts at $2 each were the star. The Kolaches were Texas style with little smoked sausages and cheese.. Nothing beats a classic, hole-in-a-wall, bakery. The whole store has an air of my childhood with all the older wood in the store. The donuts and cookies all inside are not fancy, but they are nostalgic and taste like home! I have not seen a classic, straightforward bear claw in a long while, and the taste was as good as I remembered. Definitely dropping by again when I am in town! read more

The only really convenient thing about this bakery is its hours. There is hardly ever a line here and, from the outside looking in, it seems a little grimy. It's a staple in town, so maybe I'm missing something, but going half a block down to the roastery would be, in my opinion, a better way to spend one's time. The food is hit-or-miss, but no one I've talked to has been anxious to be back. read more

BEST donut I have ever had before! The sweetest lady helped us choose our desserts. I have to say we are coming back to this town just for this bakery! ONLY on Saturdays, she makes some wonderful apple crisp donuts and I regret not buying all that she had left! We dropped in for a quick breakfast treat and found this to be an awesome little bakery! The lady working there was so nice, the sausage kolaches were delicious, and we loved the donut varieties. The applesauce cake and the cappuccino cake donuts were our favorites. The donuts are on the smaller size, but this is a locally owned small business, so that's to be expected. Stopped in for a coffee while in BV but they didn't really have much variety - you could get a generic cup of drip coffee or have it over ice. Hubby wanted something more flavorful, so we opted to go to the roastery across the street to get a drink. We decided to buy a dozen chocolate chip cookies before we left. The cookies seemed a little stale and they had an odd flavor. Even our always hungry teenage son didn't like them which is saying something as he'll usually eat anything. read more

Not worth the stop. We sampled multiple items while visiting the distillery across the street. It's location across from a place where people drink, must be the reason it stays in business. I can't see any other reason why people would take business here. read more

I'm telling you, if you want a good filled long john, you have to come here. The ones with the sprinkles, muah! The applesauce and blueberry donuts are good too. You know what used to be really good here...? Their cakes, especially their frosting. We bought a cake here the other day. My hope was to eat globs of the frosting. When I saw the cake, the frosting didn't look the same as the old days. I asked and they said it was the same recipe, but, I don't think so. But still the long johns were worth the trip. Went in based off the sign outside that said they had kolaches. What we purchased was a cheese sauce filled pig in a blanket (not kolache) with dry bread. Would not return. read more

We really appreciated the positive attitude and warm smiles from those working there. Unfortunately though, the food was "eh". The bread we bought tasted as if it were a day old. The donuts were a bit better, but just "fine". I love the location and wish I had a better rating! We wouldn't return though. read more

Lobacks is part of a dying breed of old family bakeries. Such a gem. A very nostalgic feel all around. First and foremost... the most amazing cream puffs and eclairs if you come on the right day! And we are some serious foodies... one of us a classically trained chef! We have actually special ordered large batches of these for parties or sharing with friends. We also love their cake donuts! Moist and delicious! Lobacks has the most friendly staff in town and is absolutely one of our stops every time we are in BV. Someone poorly reviewed these guys for having bad breakfast burritos... doh! Its a bakery. Go here for donuts pastries and cookies! Oh and incredible pecan sticky buns. read more

Very disappointing. We stopped there twice and there was very limited selection, even by the middle of the morning. I have never been to a bakery that wasn't ready to go by early morning (they didn't have glazed donuts at 9am on a Saturday morning). Staff was not overly friendly either. The donuts were yummy though. Especially the applesauce donuts on Saturday mornings. While its not a bad place, I highly suggest walking across the street to the Roastery for a much better experience. read more

Love Loback's. Their filled long johns are the best. I have never been able to find another donut shop that has filled long johns like theirs.. My husband and I grew up in Buenie and have been all over the USA and other countries. The apple sauce donuts are moist and good flavor plus I like their date bars. Short Version: They forgot to bake the cake for our wedding. Even after having contacted them 3 times after the initial order (twice right before the wedding), they still failed to have a cake ready on the date specified. A family member was forced to miss our wedding pictures in order to pick it up late, and it was not in an acceptable condition when they did. Full Review: I just recently had a wedding at the nearby Mt. Princeton Hot Spring resort, and had Loback's Bakery make us a simple cake for the wedding. Shorty after placing the initial order, I called back to update our order; we had decided we wanted a larger cake, and wished to add a cupcake for a guest who had their birthday on the same day as our wedding. They could find no record of our previous order, so they had to make a new one - first red flag. About 2 weeks before the wedding date, I called to confirm the order. They had it this time, good. We wouldn't have time to pick the cake up on the day of the wedding, but my aunt graciously volunteered to do so. Four days before the wedding I called the bakery so that I could pay ahead of time, and inform them that someone would be picking the cake up for me the day of the wedding. The day of the wedding, my aunt arrived at the bakery to get the cake, but there was no cake to be found. At first they didn't know what she was talking about, then once they found the order they told her that their "oven broke", and they would make the cake but she would have to come back at 5pm to pick it up. The wedding started at 3pm. So my aunt returned at 5pm to pick up the cake, missing the family pictures after the ceremony in the process. The cake appeared hastily made, and they packaged it poory; smashing down a peice of paper over the top and crushing the icing. The kitchen staff at Mount Princeton had to smooth out the icing and re-decorate it to make it look presentable. In the end, the cake looked nice and was ready in time for dessert, thanks to everyone involved EXCEPT Loback's Bakery. In the future I will avoid patronizing this establishment at all costs, and would advise anyone else to do the same. read more

I love this place! Don't go in if you are some introvert yuppy. If you actually want to go in and strike up a conversation the old locals in the joint can give you a run for your money if you get them on a good day. We stopped by this place on a road trip. The almond-topped pretzel twists have an unbelievable melt- in- your mouth consistency. The bear claw was sublime, and the applesauce donuts are moist with a delicious, spice-cake flavor. We actually went back on our return trip and bought sticky buns for the next day's breakfast, we were so impressed. And the prices are SO LOW for what you'd find of comparable quality in a coffee shop ( if you could ever find anything this good in a coffee shop---in my experience their offerings too often consist of dry, candy-like brownie wedges and overly dry and crumbly oversized scones.) Anyway, this place was a great find, the service in our experience was extremely friendly, and I found this bakery charming in an old-fashioned, no-frills kind of way .
