The cashier was not happy to have two whole customers in her otherwise dead store. We were greeted with a sigh and an eye roll. We should have just turned around and walked out.We came to loaf n go for coffee; and beef jerky for our ride home. We decided to cash out our scratch tickets while we were there; since we couldn't exactly cash them once we Utah. We had 3 tickets. One had $20 one had $3 and one had $100. We handed the cashier our tickets. She said "we can't give more than eight hundred in cash you, will have to get the rest on a money order. you will want to go somewhere else." "that's okay we it have one $100 ticket" my husband told her. " I SAID ONE-HUNDRED" she yelled at us. Even thought we both clearly heard her say 8, I guess it was important enough to her to scream at us about. I explained that the $20 card was my father in laws; and asked if I could just get his money in cash and take the $103 on a cashier check. With a high sigh and an eye roll that had more angst than. 15 year old teenager. She responded "well that depends how much money you actually won now doesn't it?" She scanned the tickets and said. There is no $100 ticket here. We asked for the card back and showed her what I scratched off. "The bar-code says three." she barked at us. We flipped the card over and showed her the rules on the back. It clearly showed we won $100. No one would have gotten defensive had she not been yelling and slinging an attitude from the moment we walked in. She snatched the ticket up and stormed into the managers office. Minutes later the manager came bounding out of the office trying to act intimidating. "This is a bar code" she said to us in the most condescending voice ice ever head. "We scan the bar code and it tells us what you won." she continued to explain in a tone that was acting like we were stupid. "I understand that but the card clearly says we won $100" said my husband. "Um... No it doesn't, see" she flipped the card over with her thumb over the rules so we couldn't see the "rule" she pointed to. "May I just have my card back then?" I asked. "It's too late for that; we already scanned it. Besides your not going to find one person who will give you more than three dollars." she put the card under the counter so I couldn't have it back. I left my coffee, and jerkey there. They lost my business. There was no reason for the situation to have escalated as it did. It's possible we could have misunderstood the fine print. We will never know because their bad attitude and refusal to give my card back. Without proof, or letting me see my card as far as I'm concerned they pocketed my money. read more
