I was referred to Ashton Creek Oral Surgery Suites by my dentist for my wisdom teeth removal. Two…read morehad not erupted and one was broken. I wanted all of them out at the same time and IV sedation seemed to be the best method for me. I got a referral slip from my dentist and made the appointment as soon as possible. Lindsey answered the phone and helped me make my appointment. She took most of my information over the phone and asked that I fill out a new patient slip on their website before my visit. Super simple, friendly, and professional. They mailed me a welcome letter with minor instructions before my appointment and called 2 days before to confirm. The office is in an office park that looks like a neighborhood. Parking was very limited but I assume they don't have a ton of appointments at once. Showed up 15 minutes early as instructed to go over my paperwork with Ann and to speak to the surgeon. My appointment was with Dr. Christopher Mastin. He was friendly and polite and answered all of my questions. They did an X-ray and it turns out I didn't need one of my wisdom teeth removed. Instead of trying to pressure me into having it removed, we weighed the pros and cons and in the end it was still 100% my decision. I felt better not being pressured into it. After my consultation it was time for surgery. My husband got to wait in a small lounge with a tv and snacks. I was taken into a small room with a tv playing relaxing scenes and was seated in a recliner. Ann inserted my IV (just a small pinch), gave me an injection, and within 30 seconds I was feeling sleepy. She immediately stood me up and led me into the operating area. Sat down in the dentist chair, felt them apply my monitors, and I was OUT! Woke up what seemed like 5 seconds later and was led into a different small room with a recliner. They sat me down and covered me with a blanket. I wasn't allowed to stay there very long, which would be my one complaint. I felt like I needed at least 5 minutes sitting there, I was super out of it. My husband brought the car around to the side, I was escorted out by a nurse, and we were on our way. Thankfully we had paid after the consultation so didn't have to worry about that afterwards. I was given a 1 time use ice pack, chapstick, a stress ball, extra gauze, 3 prescriptions, and a plastic syringe in a cooler bag on my way out. They were supposed to follow up with me a few days after my procedure but they never did. They lose a star because of that. Also I didn't receive any kind of receipt at the office, but called the next week and requested one. I ended up being overcharged (compared the receipt with the statement from my insurance) so I called and inquired about the charge and they mailed me a check for the difference. I don't think they would have sent it if I hadn't called about it, but whatever. Be sure to get a copy of your receipt at the office the day of for your records. Overall I would still recommend this office - 1 week later and I've had minimal pain! I've hardly had to take any pain meds.

How about a refreshing Spa Day - at the dentist!?…read more Ok, close your eyes real tight and imagine the metallic sound of a drill grinding into your teeth. Scratch that. Ok, now close your eyes real tight and imagine a cool sip of sparkling water, a relaxing massage with the pretty Glee gang dancing on Hulu TV while you're reclining and waiting for...wait for it -- your dentist! We've come a long way Dr. Tim Whatley!! So, I'm not a dental aficionado, but what I am, is an expert on comfort in an often uncomfortable setting. That's where "Refresh Dentistry's" masterful architect of this experience, Dr. John Rogers, gets it right. Maybe I'm stuck in a "Whatley" Seinfield episode, but I can't remember the last time I sat in a fab waiting area with Pellegrino in the fridge, green tea K-Cups & magazines I actually read while I'm Gleeking out to a huge LED TV. There really is a massaging, reclining dental chair. (That's fab too) And, you really can watch TV while you're getting an education on your chompers. And, did I mention the swag, it comes in a pretty blue bag with sugar free treats. Now, that's refreshing! I'm Russ Kirkpatrick and I support my community.

We bought their dental plan because my teacher retirement didn't offer dental insurance. This year they did. It would have covered my cleaning completely if the dentist had done the wing bite X-rays, but they did something else which was only covered at 70%, so I was charged a $57 deductible plus 30% of the X-ray cost. I asked if I could use my plan that I bought from and they said no. I paid them for it but they wouldn't let me use it. The cleaning cost me more than if I didn't have insurance. I changed dentists.
