I looked at the menu ahead of time and knew exactly what I wanted. I paid for a Lyft to get here from my hotel. To my unfortunate surprise, there was a sign on the door saying they were temporarily closed. I tried calling the restaurant with no answer. How disappointing. Their online hours said they were open. I had to walk half a mile up the street to another restaurant in the hot sun to prevent from having to wait and pay for another lyft. Only positive was that I some exercise. If you're going to be closed, you should update your hours or have a voicemail saying so. To note: I did call ahead of time with no answer. I saw recent reviews, which led me to believe they were open.

We had the Baja tacos, street tacos, mozzarella sticks and loaded tots. Everything was really good. It was a little dead when we went but then again it was 8:30 on a Friday night so I'm sure it picks up later. Our waitress provided good service. What really stuck out to me was the staff genuinely seemed to enjoy working there. All of them were joking around, dancing and having a good time. My only complaint was the music was a little loud for me so it was tough to have a conversation. But then again it is a Friday night. Will be back

I went for a work luncheon of over 40 people and they were able to accommodate all of us without feeling crowded, which was impressive. Reservations were made but service was a little slow; honestly, it was reasonable given a party our size. They started each table with complimentary chips and three different salsas: a traditional red, a green avocado-jalapeño style salsa, and a creamy white salsa. The white salsa was the most flavorful--seemed like a sour cream, lime, and garlic concoction. The red and green salsas had a little heat but were a bit watery and bland. I ordered the tacos al carbon. The beef was chopped, well seasoned, and tender, just as described on the menu. It was a solid meal--nothing that completely wowed me, but nothing overly disappointing either. Overall, the food was better than okay, the atmosphere was pleasant, and the restaurant handled a very large group reasonably well. I'd come back and give Costa Messa another try, maybe during dinner to see how the experience compares.

We could have definitely shared a plate! The chips and salsas were delicious. They served us a small cup of their veggie soup broth. Delicious too. He even hyped up the owner by mentioning how humble and generous he is. The interior is very spacious and can accommodate all party sizes.

I was waited on pretty quickly, I think the waiter was just waiting to see where I settled. My waiter Aaron was friendly and attentive, and *tried to suggest something. The problem was, there were too many things I wanted to try! I settled on the fried oysters with a side of cajun fries. The oysters had a delicious seasoning and were well cooked. My only complaint was I felt they had too much breading to appreciate the oyster inside. Again, the breading was delicious - just too much. You get about 10 oysters. The fries were well seasoned as well, and quite plentiful. For dessert I had the caramel banana pie. It looked delicious, but for me, it was just too over the top. For the expense, I certainly would not order again. Speaking of "expense", this place is more in the "medium" price range and not something I would go to on a regular basis for lunch. It was good, and definitely maybe more of a dinner spot. Nice change of pace kind of place!

However, after we were seated on the patio, staff informed us that the kitchen closes at 10:00 PM, which was completely fine. Later, when they came by to ask if we wanted another round of drinks, we were told the bar also closes at 10:00 PM.. Around 10:15 PM, while we were still seated outside, staff locked the restaurant doors and turned off the lights while we were seated on the patio. Shortly afterward, a staff member told us we needed to leave and took our drinks, even though mine was still full. The issue isn't that the kitchen or bar closes at 10:00 PM--it's the lack of clear and consistent communication. If customers are expected to finish up and leave by 10:00 PM, that expectation should be clearly stated online, posted on the door, and communicated upfront when guests are seated. The current closing times are inconsistent and create a confusing and disappointing experience. Also the guac and margarita were lacking.

I only saw the waitress when she dropped off the menu and took my order then when she delivered my order then when she brought the check. It was a lot of sitting there hoping her and the other larger girl would look up from their phones to bring me something. Tonight was much worse. Even after leaving a 30% to be nice last night I was completely ignored tonight and after 10 minutes went to the bar and asked for a menu. She never came back to take my order actually a guy from the back that brings food up saw I was being ignored and came up and asked what I wanted and 6 minutes later I had food. Then it was a 20 minute wait to get a check while they were busy yelling at guys across the lobby. While I'll stay at this hotel again I won't waste my time eating here again. The food was great, no issues with the food, the waitresses just don't care to serve people sitting at tables, just the guys sitting at the bar. Waste of my time and money.
