After discovering that our first three choices were all shuttered, we ended up at La Pepita by default. Thankfully, it turned out to be a great find. We stopped in late in the afternoon, when the pace was relaxed but the energy still lively. The space had a fun, casual vibe -- the kind of place that feels effortlessly cool without trying too hard. The service was friendly and quick, and the staff seemed to genuinely enjoy what they do. We ordered a few snacks and drinks, all of which hit the spot. Everything was flavorful, nicely presented, and perfect for sharing. Even though it wasn't quite the dinner rush, there was a steady flow of people, which tells me it's a popular spot year-round, not just a backup when others are closed. Overall, La Pepita was a happy surprise on an August afternoon -- great atmosphere, good food and drinks, and the kind of easygoing charm that makes you want to linger a little longer. Would absolutely go back. 4.5 Stars

Make a reservation beforehand, maybe even a month in advance, they are a popular restaurant and will get booked. We were quickly seated by the friendly waitress who explained to us the option of picking the tasting menu. We would set a price that we were willing to spend for dinner per person and the restaurant will provide us with tapas that equals up to the price. We decided on 70 euro each which gave us a grand total of around 15 tapa dishes. This was a lot of food and you bet we were stuffed by the end of the meal! Everything was so delicious, the meat and seafood were all excellent quality. Standout tapas include the sea urchin, grilled razor clams, Russian salad, Iberian ham, tomato bread, foie gras, pork jowl sandwiches and mackerel. Overall, it was an amazing start to our stay in Barcelona and a definite food highlight. If you're willing to shell out on some cash (and why not, you're on a vacation!), I highly recommend Bodega 1900 for a great dinner experience.

They use high quality and local ingredients here. I loved how they incorporated olive oil and sea salt in most dishes. My favorites were the Spanish sea urchin, foie gras, Iberian loin, smoked mackerel, prawns, razor clams, and fried seabass. Service was great and we had such an enjoyable experience here. It set the bar high for the rest of our trip. Be sure to try the vermouth! It is so smooth and refreshing.

The main worker spoke English and let us know what food was available to order. Music was fun and funky. They sell homemade vermut, cava brut nature, chips, olives, piparres and salsa vermella. Should have bought their olives (2,70 € for 150g) to go! - Vermut (2,60 €) - smooth with the slightest medicinal note. Really liked it. Came with a delicious olive. - Vermut reserva (3,80 €) - more depth and flavour compared to the regular vermut. Try both to see the difference. - Carxofa (2,40 €) - artichokes with sundries tomatoes and black olives. Decent. - 2x Pintxo seito (2,00 € each) - anchovies with olives. Fantastic. - 1/2 Calamar/ventresca (3,90 €) - squid with olives and piparres. Was surprised this was only a half portion. Squid had a firm, pleasant texture. - Patates gruixudes (2,90 €) - homemade chips. They added some of their salsa vermella, which soggied up the chips. Would ask for it without. - Cured tuna (7,80 €) - came with almonds. Never have tried tuna this way. Interesting texture. This portion was more than enough. Our favourite meal in Barcelona.

I'm here to tell you that the tapas were tapa-ing hardcore. They were simply scrumptious! Saw this place during my walk down Rambla de Catalunya. It's perfectly tucked right in the heart of the busy street, and they have a lovely patio area that's right in the thick of it all. Unfortunately, the patio was full and busy, so I opted for a table inside. Definitely wasn't a bad choice. Their interior is so cute and cozy! The Spanish bodega vibes were swarming all over the place. I just loved it. I've learned that the service element in Spain is generally very different from the US. In saying this; don't expect to be wowed by the service here. But the tapas are truly scrumptious! I enjoyed the followed tapas: Grilled prawns - Geeeezuuus! These were mouthwatering! I grew up eating prawns without the heads and skins on, but now I understand why they keep them on here. The prawn heads preserve all of the juiciness and flavors. These were cooked and seasoned perfectly and I could not get enough. Fried potatoes - Amazing! I've had these at Spanish restaurants in the US, but there really IS a difference in the way that they're prepared here. The crispiness is just delightful, but it's the sauces that really did it for me. Not sure what kind of sauces were used (one red and one white) but they added a beautiful taste to these already yummy potatoes. Meat croquettes - Scrumptious! These croquettes have a mix of minced meats inside that are so tender and flavorful. And the breading is absolutely perfect. They paired perfectly with my wine too. Speaking of wine; the Spanish red wine that I had was dynamite! Can't comment on the specific varietal but it was so smooth and silky. I meeeaan... dinner was delicious!!! They set the bar pretty high for the restaurants that followed. Although the service wasn't the best, the wine and tapas most certainly impressed. I'd come back for more of those tasty tapas any day.

Our server, Amaya, was funny, knowledgeable, and incredibly attentive. He took great care of us, and every single recommendation he made was delicious. I wish I knew all the Spanish names of the dishes because everything was amazing. The highlights for us were the Bacalao -- so tender and full of flavor -- and honestly the best octopus I've ever had in my life. We also loved the soft steak with duck liver served on a slice of French baguette, the shrimp skewers, patatas, and the Spanish ham with tomato toasts. Every dish was unforgettable. On top of the incredible food, the restaurant itself has such an elegant atmosphere with beautiful décor that made the whole dining experience even more special. While all of the food was great, for me the codfish was hands-down the star of the show and probably one of the best dishes that I ate on the trip. The flavor of the sauce combined with the texture of the fish actually blew me away, and I can see why my server highly recommended this to me. If you just get one things when coming here, definitely make sure not to miss this dish. Highly recommend checking this place out for Spanish tapas, they represent the cuisine well!
