Even after you cancel your subscription they call you and tell you some mystery person has called them to tell them they're keeping the subscription even though you have not authorized any subscription at all. The woman called me and told me that I still had a subscriptive because I called and ask for one which I never did. I am always looking for Christ centered/family friendly movies and television shows to stream. With a name like Living Scriptures - it has to be great, right? I tried the free trial and after several attempts, I found absolutely no decent new movies - so after 1 day, I attempted to cancel the free trial. Canceling was an incredibly cumbersome procedure, which you cannot do from the app, you must go online and follow multiple steps. I thought I cracked the code and canceled the free trial only to discover that I have been charged two consecutive months. I tried to call them, but of course their lines were "busier than normal" and I never got through. I had to dispute their charges on my credit card, which meant that my credit card company put my card on hold - that was fun. I finally emailed Living Scriptures and told them how frustrated I was with their cancellation process to which they emailed me back with even more procedures on how to go online to cancel the free subscription, which took about 10 different steps. I honestly believe they make canceling cumbersome, challenging and difficult so most people give up. Living Scriptures - change your ways or change your name. You made $20 off of me, but you will pay a much bigger price from the Lord for your business practices. read more

I am completely disappointed with the customer service of Living Scriptures. I called to dispute a yearly charge of $102.84. I did not want a subscription, and it was one of my children that signed up for the trial but used an email that I was not aware of. I never received notice of a trial period before being charged my account. I do not want a subscription. Regardless of how or who signed up for the trial, they were determined to keep their $102. They make it easy to get you into their subscription then at the time of cancellation they don't answer, return calls and their website conveniently doesn't work. They charge your account the 75.00 annual fee. And When you call them it says we don't do refunds or prorated payments. Be very careful of their business practices. They will call you after you sign up and ask you if you enjoy the service during your trial. They will ask if you are happy and intending to stay with them that if you are happy they can offer you a low rate to stay. They will not mention you will be agreeing to a 36 month commitment. You will never actually say you are but you will be by saying you want to continue. I am not sure how they get away with this but it's in the wording. They will then tell you you can cancel before the 36 months if you ever call saying you have decided not to continue (because it does say cancel any time when you even sign up for the trial and doesn't mention any kind of contract) but it never says you can cancel any time for free. That's the key so beware that there are ways to work things to confuse you. It's a shady way to do business and the woman on the phone who is the manager even agreed that it was not an honest way said she unfortunately had to charge me anyway I paid it because I want them to go away now, but I'm Left feeling that this is a company that is selling streaming services of Christian value programming that don't actually carry the values themselves so just be mindful. read more

100% do not recommend. This company serves a largely Latter Day Saint and Christian customer base. Sadly, they do not do business with Christian values. I started a trial of this and once I logged in I found that the content wasn't something that we were going to use much - mostly because we don't actually watch a lot of tv. We have had a busy few weeks because of school starting and so my free trial had lapsed. No problem, I understood I would need to pay for the extra month I had the service. When I was going through my credit card statement I saw that I had been charged for a full year of service. I must have selected that option. Dang it. No problem, most reputable companies work with you on things like this (because they understand how important customer relationships are and that we are human). Not Living Scriptures. Even though I had already cancelled my account, they refused to refund ANY of the year that had been paid. They cited their terms and conditions again and again and wouldn't budge on a partial refund, pro-rated amount, meet in the middle, anything. I want to support small business but this company does not take care of their customers. Had this been Amazon, Microsoft, Netflix, ANY OTHER SERVICE, the customer would have been first - because that is how businesses grow. It is exciting that they got to keep my $85 (steal really) but they lost ALL OF MY REFERRALS in the future. read more

I find James A.'s review from Jan 2024 very odd since he seems to be the only one in the history of Living Scriptures reviews here that has been given a refund despite their rigorous terms and conditions that not a single person gets a refund, ever. I canceled my subscription today since my family is just really too active to watch. I called a few minutes later to make sure I would not be charged and was told that my card was charged because cancellation was complete at 12:45pm and billing was at 11:19am. She referred to those terms and conditions stating that no refunds, regardless, would be given even though I was only minutes past the time my card was charged when I cancelled. So I also referred to those terms and conditions and let her know they do not state that billing was at a specific time of day, since she was being very specific about what those terms and conditions say then the company owes me a refund since it doesn't say that. She refused to reverse that payment even though I was correct in that the terms and conditions completely failed to address my situation at all, legally I was owed a payment reversal. This company wants to claim no refund according to terms and conditions, then I have the right to receive a refund because the terms and conditions don't have anything in it that states billing will be completed on an exact time of the day each month, therefore I have been deceived and the company has committed fraud and stolen my money because denying me a refund in my situation is not supported by their terms and conditions that the company boldly touts. Since they give zero grace to anyone, absolutely no exceptions, even if the customer is right, especially if the denial of refund is not supported by the terms and conditions, then I'm going strictly legal and they owe me a refund because the terms and conditions don't state that the cancellation must be done at a specific time of the day. Unfortunate how this company operates opposite of the character of the presented content. I got a call from them asking me if I wanted to sign up for a three year contract. I said I could not guarantee that nor did I really want to. She said she'd send me a free roku, and I said okay I guess but I didn't want the contract. She basically said fine. I thought we were on the same page. I come to find out today that they signed me up for that anyway even though I said no. Now, I have to pay a cancelation fee for a contract I didn't sign up for. These guys may have christian content but they are not. They will swindle anyone who signs up. I wish I had known before hand. I wouldn't have ever even signed up. I have ALL the Living Scriptures videos and the original audios for myself and my five kids. I've seen some of the reviews below. The Living Scriptures sales approach is straightforward: the sales people show you the "sets" and you can either get them all at once or purchase them as they arrive a few at a time (but you still agree to buy the "sets"--and there is no interest). There is an agreement, but it is pretty clear. There is also a cancellation, but it has a time frame (which is fine)--but there is a limit--it's not a year or so after-the-fact (which is what many reviews below tried to do). The complaints I read talk about folks ordering the sets but then deciding to only get and pay for part of them. It's like ordering half the Book of Mormon (book or tapes) in retail (they are only sold as a set)--they don't sell just half a book or half a tape. The concern is there are a lot of tapes/videos--but then again, that's the good thing. They are sold direct, but then most members don't live next to an an LDS bookstore. The quality of the script is great (most were from Orson Scott Card--one of my favorite authors of all time). They have to add something to fill in the blanks, but they stick with the scriptures and are well researched--and I've felt the Spirit while listening and watching. The audio is Lex de Azevado - a legend in LDS circles, and the video is by Richard Rich (did the Fox and the Hound, Pete's Dragon, Winny the Pooh for Disney). Can't get much better than that. The cost for the tapes was less than the typical music tape. The cost for the videos was higher than normal--but most videos are paid for multiple times over in theaters, so they don't make up their cost with the videos--since it is most of their profit. The LDS market is smaller--so there is not as big a market, so I wasn't worried about the pricing. My VHS tapes don't get used, nor my tapes--since I now subscribe to their streaming service. It is amazing! Plus, I get all the popular LDS type videos thrown in (The RM, God's Army, The Book of Mormon Movie (not the best--but included)--they even have a lot of great LDS (and non-LDS but teach good values) videos I never even knew about). I own about 30-40 of the other videos--but I don't even touch my DVD, I stream it off my Roku--and now Apple TV. The price is fine and we have all our Sunday videos in one place. At first the streaming had a few problems (would stall occasionally), but they have it all worked out now and it is as smooth as my Netflix. My oldest boy is now 27, my youngest girl is 13, and I'm pushing 60--but we all still love them (I teach primary and will even review them to get the stories down before class). I wondered how they would get enough customers to make the streaming pay off--but lots of folks I know now subscribe). I wholeheartedly recommend their streaming service (I don't buy DVDs anymore)! read more

Very sad to say, they are more scammers and don't have much of an honor code. The trick is to get you to sign up for the free trial and continue to charge your credit card even after you request a cancellation. When called about a refund they just continue to repeat the same lines over and over, stating that there is only a 3 day grace period for a refund. The mistake is using a credit card online.... it has become way too easy for companies to continue charging and little the bank will do to help you. I loved the Living Scriptures VHS's as a kid. I signed up for the free trial of their streaming service because I had one movie I wanted to watch. I made sure to go in and cancel so I wouldn't get charged. Then I got a call from one of their salespeople. He asked me about my unique last name and we chatted about my family history. When he asked about my experience with Living Scriptures, I mentioned that I had just wanted the free trial and wouldn't really use the streaming service. He kept talking for a while and offered to add something to my account that would make it so I would have a discount if I decided to go back to the streaming service. I said sure, thanked him, and thought no more of it. Later I noticed that I had been charged for a month of Living Scriptures. I figured I hadn't saved my settings when I cancelled the first time, so I tried again. I couldn't find the option to cancel. I am a huge procrastinator, so another month went by and I got charged for another month. $20 gone at this point. I emailed them asking how I could cancel. They replied and told me that I was in a 3 year contract and that there was a $30 cancellation fee. First time I'd heard about my "contract" was in that email. The cheapest way I could fulfill the "contract" was to pay about $100 per year. Not worth it, so I told them to cancel my contract. After reading other Living Scriptures reviews, I got off easy with $50 for a free trial and a sleazy phone call. If you like their movies, order them off of ebay. Avoid working directly with the company at all costs. read more

I had LS for about a year and enjoyed the wide variety of shows. I later had to cancel my subscription. However after many month passed, LS started running my Debit Card again. It has been difficult getting it taken care of. To add to the frustration, I tried to access my past account to see if there was information why this was occurring. I cannot log in! SO, not only have I been paying for a service that I quit long ago, but I am paying for service that I can't use! I thought I would take their 30 free trial and see if I liked it, well after a few days and hours of browsing I found this site way too expensive for what little they had and decided to unsubscribe, but they tricked me in to believe I had unsubscribed and I was not. When I was charged on my credit card I called and complained and they were like too bad your fault you have to pay the $10.00. So I went back and made sure I was truly unsubscribed. But...now they constantly send me emails trying to get me to come back to what I consider a rip off and I unsubscribe from their emails but I keep getting them, I contacted them and they say well you have unsubscribed from emails from your account but not solicitation emails. Again a company with no respect of people and obliviously being ran by not fair and honest people. They hurt people and harass them and trick them for fun. I grew up watching the Living Scriptures videos. I was excited when I heard they were offering streaming. My 8 year old daughter especially loves the New Testament videos, but there are lots of new things to watch besides the original Living Scriptures movies. They have tons of shows for kids and movies for adults that are clean and have good messages. There are quite a few movies I've loved watching that I probably wouldn't have seen if we didn't have Living Scriptures streaming. We especially love to watch it on Sundays! We watch on Roku and haven't had any issues - it works great! read more

Until I received a letter in the mail claiming that I owed them $300 dollars for use of their kiosk. Half the time I couldn't find the same videos on an iPad app as I could on the tv app. We signed up for 3 months for .99 thinking the contract would end after that. After those 3 months, we were charged $10 the next month without any warning. The day we were charged, we reached out to the consult explaining that there had been a mistake, we were unaware we would be charged, and money was right that month so we'd like a refund. After emailing back and forth with both Chris and Veronica, we got no where. Very rude and not willing to apologize for the mistake. They claimed we received a notice of this upcoming charge, which was not true, and continued to refuse to give our money back. Clearly they need the $10 more than my kids need food on the table. For a Christian, wholesome, family friendly streaming service, the are anything but. The actual cartoons are great and I would have been satisfied with just those, but the pushy salesman convinces you to sign up for the rest not telling you that if you say yes you are locked in for life until you pay off $3000 worth of movies.
