It is challenging to find coffee around 3 pm in Sedona that is not Starbucks. We found Living Chocolate and with a little creativity it worked. My husband had the Afternoon Loft on ice with a touch of chocolate and I had the Ecuador Creamy Cacaoffee on ice. Both were amazing in flavor, not too sweet and pleasurable to sip on. Today, a small box (6 inch) box of truffles cost me $100. So whether this is too much for you to pay, or you never look at the bottom line before signing, it's all up to you. But you should know. If you are not in a position to splurge-whatever, better ask how much each piece costs. The least expensive piece is $4.25 and some are $11. The people working there are very sweet, so that is great, but whether your pocketbook is okay it, you have to judge yourself. It is good to know that no sugar is to put into the product. Then points to a round chocolate smaller than a golf ball, "These are $4.25 and prices go up from there." I purchased one chocolate PB heart about the size of a Reeces peanut butter cup, I think it was $6...I am sure it was made with quality ingredients. However the taste was average and I will not return here. There was another beautiful creation called snickers and was the size if a small brownie. She told me it was $11 for one. It was the perfect treat post-hike. Living Chocolate is located along a major highway in Sedona and is situated in one of the many business strips around. We spotted it while driving to a trailhead from our lodging, so made a plan to check it out afterwards. We visited in the late afternoon on a Monday and the owner warmly greeted us. Although it's a small shop with just a few seats, it was a welcoming atmosphere. Living Chocolate had several different chocolate truffles in the display case, as well as chocolate goods for purchase, like bars, cacao beans, etc. They also had a drink menu, featuring many chocolate-y beverages and beyond. My partner ordered a classic drinking chocolate while I had an elixir, made with electrolytes and pomegranate. We also shared three truffles: turmeric pepper, dark chocolate nibs and espresso. All of our treats were delicious - and most importantly, we could easily tell the chocolate was made with simple, high-quality ingredients. In fact, I love that they do not use cane sugar here to sweeten the products; they use honey, which has a more natural taste and is better for you. I highly recommend visiting Living Chocolate if you're a chocoholic in Sedona. They have a small chocolate market inside worth getting more great cacao. The owner is such a gem, she opened 45 min earlier so I could get another ceremonial cacao to go at my departure day from Sedona - well I was lucky she was already at the store! I am so sorry to do this, but I never have been compelled to write a negative review until now on Yelp, but this one did the trick. You couldn't have a nicer view of the Red Rock mountains of Sedona, and it's next door to a nice ice cream shop so you'd think it's a perfect spot for a chocolate shop, and it really is. If the chocolate itself weren't so well decorated (truly beautiful), I wouldn't have been inclined to buy several pieces. What a horror to have each piece taste inversely proportional to its appearance. None tasted anywhere nearly as good as any ordinary, mass-produced chocolate you can find in any drugstore. They each tasted strangely horrible, in each of their own distinctive ways. One was so beautiful (bright hot purple colored ball of art), but unfortunately tasted like an orange peel with bad chocolate essence. In hindsight, I should've realized the point of the treats were to make them healthier than normal artisanal chocolate when the owner (I presume) was telling me about using macha and tangerine in some of the pieces. I think it was cognitive dissonance on my part because they looked too good to possibly taste bad...but they truly were. I had to throw them all away after a bite of each. I truly feel bad writing this, since the owner (presumably) was very nice and I enjoyed chatting with her, but I wouldn't be honest nor possibly providing a service to anyone in Sedona who enjoys a nice chocolate treat if they don't focus on the taste as well as the appearance of the chocolate. These treats are whole food wholesome goodness, and support the body rather than hinder. When I eat these chocolates, it feels like there is no time or space, and feels sacred in the act of enjoying them. There are plenty of other goodies like peanut butter white chocolates(my favorite!), hot drinks, cold drinks, frozen treats and more. They sell packaged products of some of the ingredients that they use in the shop, like different ceremonial beans, paste, nibs, and other unique blended creations packed with yumminess and nutrition, which I have taken with me on my travels multiple times!
