New and quite Rv Park with several amenities, Internet and washer/dryers. The whole park was concrete which is perfect for my tires.

I love Brazos bend state park. It can be a drive depending on where you live in "Houston" but I…read morethink it can be eye worth it for the entire day or even a weekend trip. I come here for a short half day trip to walk some trails with my kids 5&7. Nothing is too strenuous here for the kiddos. The facilities are typically pretty clean too and there are picnic tables to be able to have a nice lunch or snacks. The park has plenty of trails, picnic areas, fishing spots, and gators! The observatory is always a hit too!

I was surprised on my visit to Brazos Bend State Park. After hearing and reading about people's…read moreexperiences, and seeing pictures online, I thought I knew what to expect...but I was wrong. This park is far away enough from Houston but still close enough for a day trip, which is what I did. It took me about 30 minutes to drive here from Sugar Land. As I approached the entrance gate, I saw that they had two lines of cars with gate booths, just like the national parks. A ranger came out to my car and I registered myself as a day visitor. A park map was given to me and off I went to explore! Brazos Bend SP is larger than I thought it would be. There was a large parking lot and a few trailheads not too far away from the entrance, but I decided to drive past it to the next lot. 2 miles on the road later, the next parking lot was equally large but with much less cars and visitors. There's an interpretive center that was closed when I went, but a water fountain was nearby where I refilled my water bottle. I ended up walking along a combination of trails to get a feel for the place. The trails are mostly flat with asphalt, dirt, and light gravel. The peacefulness of this park is what really convinced me of the gem that this place is. Along the way, I witnessed many birds, including several vulture roosts in the trees. I also saw the American alligator in a pond, which I viewed from a safe distance. It would be quite difficult to reach the river and the ponds because of the natural vegetation in the area, so there weren't any wild alligators on the trails. I didn't get the chance to fully explore this park, but I wouldn't mind returning here another day. The gift shop offers a variety of items to purchase and the rangers seemed knowledgeable about the history of the park. Overall, I enjoyed my time here!

This is a hard day for me because I really love this park and hate to leave. Financial reasons make…read moresome hard decisions for you.. The people here are fantastic and management is the best. Having stayed in parks from Seattle to here, I don't say that lightly. The beautiful oak trees provided a neverending stream of unique birds that were very amusing. The proximity to the gulf provided a great place to relax with a cool breeze. Scanning other parks close by showed us another beautiful place with a 450.00all inclusive rent. We are grandfathered in so our rent won't ever change. As a cancer patient I make several trips for treatment in Houston. There is a clinic close by. Fuel prices are .30less in the area and that adds up. On fixed incomes, this made the move too hard to resist. So with a heavy heart I leave this review and move on. Love to all. Mike and Rosie

Galveston Island KOA - Trivia Activity

Galveston Island KOA

We've stayed at Galveston Island KOA Holiday for the past two years, and I want to share an honest…read moreexperience for anyone considering a stay. First, the positives: this is a beautiful campground with great amenities. The pool, hot tub, and lazy river are fantastic, and many of the staff members are friendly, helpful, and genuinely care about guests. Galveston itself offers so much to do--we especially loved spending time on The Strand and exploring the area. Unfortunately, the biggest issue is the management, which significantly impacts the overall experience. The park manager is unapproachable and runs the campground in a way that feels more focused on control and extra charges than guest satisfaction. Fees are added for things like early arrival, and communication often feels excessive and negative rather than helpful. While guests receive multiple daily texts about activities, we also received messages about things like dog waste in washing machines and stolen cleaning wipes--issues that could have been handled more professionally. There were also ongoing maintenance concerns both years we stayed. We experienced multiple days without water due to plumbing issues, and during our second year, the park was down to a single bathroom because of structural damage. We were told portable restrooms were coming, but they never arrived. Activities were amazing our first year, but the second year saw frequent cancellations. Even simple guest comfort requests--like putting down pavilion sides to block strong wind--were denied, despite those same features being used for staff events. Another concern is how complaints are handled. When an inappropriate interaction with a staff member was reported, there was no management available, and no follow-up from the manager afterward. That lack of accountability was disappointing. It's also worth noting that feedback appears to be filtered internally, meaning corporate oversight may not be getting the full picture. We also noticed an increase in police and emergency presence during our second stay, along with a shift in the overall campground atmosphere. To be clear, this could be one of the best campgrounds in the area--it has all the right ingredients. But until there is more professional, guest-focused management and accountability, it's hard to justify returning. #KOA #KOACamping #GalvestonTX #RVLife #CampgroundReview #RVTravel #FullTimeRV #RVLiving #CampingLife #TravelTexas #HonestReview #CustomerExperience #RVCommunity #CampgroundLife #TravelReview #ExploreTexas #RVAdventures
