I'll walk the aisles and see donated items--things they literally received for free--priced the same as, or even higher than, what you can buy brand new at a retail store or online. The whole point of a thrift store used to be finding affordable secondhand items and giving donated goods a second life. Now it feels like they're trying to squeeze every last dollar out of things that were donated by the community in the first place. I often leave empty-handed after spending time and fuel to get there, because the prices just don't make sense. If this keeps up, I'll probably stop going altogether. A thrift store should feel like a place where the community benefits--not a place where shoppers feel like they're paying boutique prices for used goods.
