I was at Melrose as an adolescent (13) for inpatient, day programs (PHP), and outpatient. This will…read moreonly be a review of inpatient though, or else it would be too long. Here's some things they do well: I found the inpatient group sessions to be helpful. They make you feel a lot less isolated which is great for recovery. The food was decent too, and they had a fairly good variety of options. I enjoyed the physical therapy classes they had. They start you off with no movement, but eventually you can go to classes that focus on stretching, games, and light strength activities. As someone who likes to move a lot I appreciate that they gave us this option. They're good weight restoring and monitoring you medically. Here's some things I didn't like: First of all, adults and adolescents are way too mixed together. We had to share one big bathroom for showering and getting ready at night/in the morning. Also, this 50 year old lady shared a toilet with me and she would be banging on the door and screaming at me. The staff did nothing about this. It's just really odd for a bunch of kids and fully grown men and women to be in close proximity like that. It also was hard to get a good nights sleep because they woke us up at 5:30 every morning as well. The adults get phones but the kids don't, which seemed pretty unfair to me. The Doctors sometimes triggered me and lied to me. For example, the main Doctor lady said that she didn't think I was that skinny or sick, which is a CRAZY thing to say to someone with an ED. She recommended that I got a NG tube, as my blood sugar was low, and told me that it would barely hurt. Yet, getting it placed was the most painful thing I've ever experienced and I cried myself to sleep every night because the pain never went away. She told me I was being sensitive, and other kids had the same procedure done and didn't complain once. HERES WHERE I TALK ABOUT THE THERAPY: I do believe that the therapists have good intentions but it's mind blowing to me how often they mischarcterize and oversimplify EDs. EVERYTHING is about weight for them. Every session felt like an interrogation: Why don't you think you're skinny enough? Why do you want to lose weight? Why are you scared of gaining weight? It was really just not helpful... Melrose needs to understand that eating disorders aren't really about food, weight, or body shape. Eating disorders are about not feeling like you're good enough. Eating disorders are about trying to control something when everything else in your life is a mess. Eating disorders are about shame, guilt, anxiety, and perfectionism. Until Melrose figures that out they have no chance at being a decent program. Tldr: Therapy was too weight focused and didn't get to the root issue of things. There were some pros like group therapy sessions and physical therapy, but the cons of some bad staff members, mixing adults and adolescents too much, and a lack of independence outweighed this.

Owner does not have integrity with appointments and will not accommodate a person that works FT M-F…read moreas there's not enough time slots between 6 PM and 7 PM and he will not adjust the hours. I was going here for well over 2 years and it was always a difficult task to get in and to make appointments ahead of time for the week. You have to make them two or three weeks ahead of time and I don't always know my schedule ahead of time. Saturday mornings worked best for me and he wouldn't give me those timeslots as I wasn't a "new customer". He saved those for the new customers. He kept my money also. I used to like coming there until it felt disrespectful of my time and a little bit creepy. A lot of arrogance with him and his scheduling and he is not accommodating to existing customers, and he certainly is not good at Customer Service. I absolutely would not give this person your money and I would run as fast as I can. Slimgivity is a great concept, you can find other areas in the cities that will accommodate the Red Light Therapy with the wrapping of your body the targets difficult spots that hold fat. I haven't been for a few years. I can finally write a review that is true and justified. Eric blocked me from all social media initially and immediately as he knew I was going to write a review. He still owes me $110 as he wouldn't reimburse me when I could not get in for appointments. I had pretty much had it with him and his lack of customer service and I told him exactly that. He would not give me my money back. Run as fast as you can from this business. He doesn't deserve your time or money.

Personal recommendation: join Planet Fitness, start by doing something, get active, and try to control what you eat and the volume of what you eat. Minimize snacking and prioritize protein.

In order to loose weight you have to teach and educate not just medicate. Game Day is not a long term weight loss fix.

I was a client at Waters Edge for almost two years. I really loved it for the first year, and…read moredidn't really have anything bad to say about it. I did the adult ED IOP for a few months, saw an therapist and dietitian, and even saw a medication management provider. I LOVED my therapist and dietitian. They were such great fits for me, which I was not expecting because I have been through so many providers historically that were not great fits. However, after one year, everything changed. My therapist was randomly dropped off the face of the earth, and out of nowhere I got a phone call saying "sorry your therapist doesn't work here anymore." Then, I was assigned another random therapist who just happen to have an opening. Shortly after, several other providers also dropped off the face of the earth at waters edge... and out of nowhere patients were all without providers. Patients who already have trust issues, were given no closure with the provider they had built trust with, when the owner of waters edge could have at least allowed providers to explain they would no longer be working for waters edge. That aside, I also was really frustrated with the financial department. I am so blessed with great health insurance. Therefore, I only had a $20.00 copayments each visit. I was pretty good about making my copayments at the time of service. However, there were a few weeks I would forget- sometimes even a couple weeks in a row. And, at one point, I had $40.00 outstanding (two copayments), and Kristy called me several times to threaten "placing my account on hold, which meant cancelling my current standing appointments and not allowing me to be seen, until the balance was paid in full." It was $40.00!!!!! TWO VISITS! I simply forgot... and, I explained this to Kristy. Therefore, I was so frustrated that she would call me more than once, and over such a small amount of money. I feel guilty posting negative things, because as I explained- when I was seeing my original providers, everything was great! I sung praises about waters edge and was more than willing to make the commute to Burnsville. However, things dramatically changed over the last few months I was a client there.
