No, of course not. Mr. Trinidad is anything but evil. A sound savior, an aural conductor, a king selector. Years back, I was lucky enough to start listening to Chocolate City when it was on five days a week [clenching fists, dropping to knees]. Still, that was barely enough time to deliver all the good shit he had up his sleeve. Five luxuriously sweet nights composed of the likes of D'Angelo, Jill Scott, Black Star, Marvin Gaye, Common, Fela and Femi Kuti, Les Nubians, old jazz and soul cuts, solid hip hop that no one else played, house music, Latin rhythms, unsigned and local talent, everything on the positive tip. My favorite was when he would play oft-sampled original songs. So enlightening and edjumacational. The man can also relate to guests like no other. Genuine like smiling eyes, warm like cocoa, intimate like he's sitting inside my own damn personal stereo. This incredible show was my first introduction to KCRW. The point of no return. They talk about nothing, make fun of each other, make fun of stuff on the news and you just can't help but love those three. They're a great pick me up in the mornings. Always a great and a new(unique) show. Tom Leykis was the first talk radio show I have ever listened. Very entertaining, except sometimes he tends to talk about same stuff over and over. Not many people seem to like him, as you can tell by other reviews but you just can't help it but agree with him 99% of the time. lol If you get tired of listening to your MP3s, and can't stand the music stations that play same 10 songs over and over, you should definitely give this radio station a try.

Of course we have also enjoyed a variety of Great Performances and even get a kick out of watching The Lawrence Welk Show remakes. PBS has programs for all ages. I recommend checking out the offerings by your PBS station and see if you too can find at least one show of interest to you. During the fall and spring semesters you can hear students programs that are produced by the students. Some are awesome shows(like mine..hehe) and well others can use a little work, but the thing I love most about this station is that it's raw. For the past month I have been listening to this free public FM radio station. I have yet to hear a commercial. My only problem is the same problem I have with all radio stations, TV channels, podcasts, and so on... when the music stops, I can barely hear the DJ at times. I turn up volume to hear their interpretation of the symphony and the history of the music... then BLARING MUSIC CONTINUES. I thought the FCC was supposed to fix this ages ago. I've been infatuated with classical music since I began playing the flute in middle school. For whatever reason, it seems to ground me particularly while I'm driving all over Los Angeles County. Perhaps because I can use my imagination? Perhaps because there are no lyrics? No politics associated with it like there is with other genres? My 7 and 8-year-old say they can't wait to go to the symphony with me. I guess this means they enjoy this music too even when they have their headphones connected to their iPads. Thanks, K-Mozart.
