To make a long story short, Tim is a contractor who knows how to deal with insurance companies professionally and effectively. He fought for us, providing State of Florida regulations, law, and code to the insurance company, along with pictures. We took Tim's advice and didn't take the insurance company's next two offiers which still would have left us with a hefty bill. We received a new roof from Tim with two of his best roofers installing it. Throughout the whole ordeal, he made himself available from tarping the roof, and then re-tarping it after the insurance company's inspection, to answering every one of our phone calls quickly, providing advice, and then stopping by several times to inspect the work on the roof as it was being done, and then did a final inspection after the work was done. I had to continually get him to correct sub-par work which he told me was no problem. Later, I found out that he said my expectations were too high. He continually took side jobs (that were not already booked) that took him away from my job for days at a time. He also decided to move into a rent-to-own property while doing my job and was continually gone so he could work on that property. Then there were issues with childcare and a sewage problem, I believe it was, and I can't even remember the other excuses I was given. By the way, when we first started, he was "ready to work" and swore to me that they would work weekends and long hours and had been known to even sleep in the truck or house when they had long nights so they could be up early to work the next morning to make sure the dealine was met. None of that was true and unsurprisingly, he failed to meet the established deadline. He was so far behind, that my dad and I decided to tackle the fireplace remodel ourselves and would meet at the house around 7AM. Craig's team didn't arrive until between 8:30 and 10:30 each day and they were gone some days by 11:30. It was really ridiculous. I tried to be understanding but still expressed my concern about the deadline which is seemed confident he could still meet. Despite all of this, he wanted me to give him 3/4 of the final payment before all of the work was complete. I told him I wasn't comfortable with that so he packed his tools and quit without ever saying a word to me then never responded to my texts or phone calls asking what was going on. This is completely unprofessional by anyone's standards and it's my best guess that he wanted the last payment so he could quit WITH MORE MONEY IN HIS POCKET. I learned my lesson and hired a LICENSED contractor to correct his work and finish the job to my standard. The licensed contractor had no problem completing the work - work that Craig said was impossible to do like install two barn doors - and even went over everything with me to make sure I was happy before arranging for final payment. There is no way I would hire "The Handyman of Live Oak", Craig Hurst, for any work ever and would never recommend him. I cannot caution homeowners enough!

Contracted with Michael Pittman and Son Roofing to replace all of the screws on our metal roof, it…read moreis 23 years old. Due to hurricane Idalia and some strong wind storms recently some of the screws had raised up. Michael Pittman and Son Roofing is licensed and insured, which was very important to me as a customer as the pitch on my roof is very steep. We met with Michael and Son, they reviewed the issue of raised screws, made the recommendation to replace all current screws with an improved, slightly larger screw. We approved the quote for the work and was placed on the schedule. Crew worked very efficiently, cleaned up all screws removed, replaced the roof vent boots and caulked all boots against water intrusion. Communications via voice, email and text to keep us updated on the schedule and work being completed was excellent. Trevor Pittman was on site while the screw replacement was being completed. We feel we received an excellent job with the right company for our needs at a very good value. Would continue to recommend Michael Pittman and Son Roofing to others without hesitation. We prefer to support local companies whenever we are in need of replacements/repairs to our home.
