Are they still open? I went to the address and there was an antique shop.

The staff was great. The facilities (not that I'm an expert) seem spacious and clean. The staff…read moreobviously care about the animals and are knowledgeable. They spent a lot of time explaining all the health care the animals have available. The tour was definitely worth the price. I read some of the negative reviews. These seem to be from a few years ago, so they are listening and correcting. The ONE thing that irritated me, my wife and others (judging from comments at the time): They start showing a documentary before the tour (show up at least 30 minutes early). They don't finish, but you can watch it all on streaming. The irritating part is they are preparing for the tour during the documentary. Lots of us would have liked to hear, but the manager and employees were all talking (or shouting) preparations. Maybe they could do this BEFORE the documentary or OUTSIDE?? But it is definitely five stars, even with this little glitch. Check it out and help the animals!

We went on a Saturday morning in February, so the experience was peaceful, quiet, and calm. While not a whole lot of animals were out during our slot (just doing their animal thing!), we were still able to see a nice variety of species. The absolute highlight was getting to feed the giraffes at the end of the tour! They are such majestic creatures, and it was a fun, interactive activity. We finished the tour fairly quickly since many animals weren't right up against the fence that day, but it's a fantastic activity to add to your itinerary if you're spending a full day exploring the coast. You can truly tell that the caretakers value and care deeply for these animals. It's a great experience that supports an excellent cause!

You can just walk up to the gravity cabin and spend as long as you want. It's like the Mystery Spot except there's no organized tour explaining everything and how things work. I did the train, which was okay, but it goes about every hour so it's more worth it if you are there closer to the departing time otherwise you might not want to wait an hour. Confusion Hill is a definite go to stop on a road trip along the 101.

I think part of the charm in a place like this is to just explore. There seemed to be an attraction called the Gravity House ($5 admission) at the top of confusion hill. There is a train that takes folks there from the parking lot ($10 a ride) up to the top. Since it wasn't running when we came, we had to skip the house since it would have been too difficult a walk. At the parking lot level, there's a small cafe selling standard fare (burger, hot dogs, fries). The souvenir shop is large, and all of ended up buying a few things to remember the red woods. Picture taking opportunities are plentiful, and we ended up taking a picture of the Worlds Tallest Freestanding Redwood Chainsaw Carving, 40' foot totem pole. And of course there are very tall redwoods all over the area.

Assaggiare didn't disappoint. Julia was responsive and helpful from the start, updating the proposal through the planning journey, crafting a beautiful menu, and nailing in those fine details with rental needs closer to the event. On the day, Nicholas and the entire team were on time, efficient with stunning set ups of the catering stations and the guest place settings, and smoothly followed the timeline of events with perfectly placed food service. To not have to constantly push the catering staff to stay on time, move quickly and pivot with the flow of the day is a planner's wish, and they were a dream. Highly recommend you reach out to Assaggiare if you are looking for a mouth watering culinary experience for your guests, and smooth production journey for yourself and the vendor team.

Assaggiare created a truly memorable experience for my 100+ guests. Instead of just doing passed apps and cheese/charcuterie platters (like you find at most winery events), they set up an elegant poke bar where guests could pick & choose which veggies and spices they wanted with their seared ahi tuni and quinoa. Judging by all the "oohs" and "aaahs" I heard from guests, the food was a huge hit! There wasn't an empty plate in the house. (check out the yummy photos) Aside from the food, the Assaggiare team was incredibly professional. They showed up on time to set up; they cleaned up everything when the party was over; and the chefs/servers were friendly and patient with all our hungry guests. If you're planning an event in the Mendocino County area (whether it's a wedding, birthday, wine dinner, etc.), you should put Assaggiarre on the top of your catering list.
