Absolutely love this place! I just wish that there were reviews on how to actually get to the trails/paved walking areas. So for all of you out there that are wanting a nice, serene hike/more of a walk and listen up! First, you're going to want to locate the Beachcomber motel (the green one). The , you're going to want to go one parking lot north of that. On your left side as you're heading north you will see a small parking lot. This is where you want to park. On another note, there is access to that pedestrian bridge through a residential area that is south of the motel. You'll have to map it because we did not come this way and I cannot advise you on how to get here. Lol. There are so many opportunities to walk along the ridge as well as paved areas that share space with all of the coastline motels. Your options are vast and you could easily get a 3 to 4 mile walk/run in this area. I'm actually not sure how much further down it goes because the pup and I got tired. Lol . If you're walking along the ridge, consider wearing pants. I don't recommend tights because there are a lot of branches and bushes that stick out on the dirt trails. Wearing some windbreakers or sweatpants is likely your better option. There are breathtaking views from anywhere you go along the coastline. Either from the paved road or from the dirt paths. I do recommend clothed toed shoes if you are going off the paved path. There are some parts where the sand is loose and other parts where is completely rock. This is where I wish I would've had my hiking boots on, but my running shoes held up just fine. As you get further from what we'll call motel row, it gets quieter and more serene. More importantly, there's less foot traffic and bike traffic. It is very congested by the bridge itself, both on the bridge and below on the beach. This seems to be one of the longest areas in Fort Bragg to walk or ride your bike. There are some cooler places south of Fort Bragg in Mendocino that are also worth exploring. ***PSA*** This is a special announcement for all you doggy owners. Please don't be that person that does not bring poop bags. Your dog is almost guaranteed to shit on that bridge and we witnessed it TWICE. Once from a very large dog, whose poop was kicked around. As well as a smaller dog, who had the case of the runs. Neither of those situations are flattering. If anything, they are embarrassing... for YOU. Forgot to add that parking is free and there is a restroom (use at your own risk). read more

This spot is nice. You can either walk the Trestle along the long path and have the view of the Pacific Ocean, or you can go down to the beach area and explore. There's not a bad phot spot around the whole area. Would love to go there again next time I visit. read more

Omg, I visited this past weekend and was absolutely enamored by this beach which has a small parking lot for convenience and an old wooden train trestle crossing through, adding a bit of charm. A seemingly endless field of smooth soft sand, calm waters with relaxing waves, a few shorebirds in the area, and a peaceful atmosphere with hardly any people around on a Saturday afternoon, unlike the touristy glass beach nearby. It was the perfect spot to nap, enjoy the wonderful weather, and spend time with my favorite person. read more

I love visiting the Pudding Creek Trestle. Nice beach, great for families, beautiful for photos. Ample parking below on adjacent to the beach or above where you can access and walk across the trestle. My husband and I have been going to Mendocino/Fort Bragg for a while now (except during Covid). The last few years we've been staying at the motel by the bridge. Last year we invited our family to join us. We had such a great time at the pudding creek. The kids loved it as the water was not cold, it was perfect. If you have little ones, this creek is worth it! Very shallow and water temp is good for children. And if you want to change scenery, you can continue to the opposite side of the beach for the normal beach shores experience. A beautiful beach. Not dirty water, but an aqua blue. This coastal beach is different from Monterey and Santa Cruz, just calmer and less touristy. read more

Spent some time here on a recent trip and it is a nice, good sized beach to spend some time. It's right off the main road which is convenient and although parking is limited, there is a porta-potty in the parking area just in case. On one trip we saw kids kayaking and playing in the "creek" that connects to the ocean, splashing each other with water that had visible algae and I was a bit concerned due to toxic blooms in the area. I would recommend making the trek all the way out to the ocean. It also has a cool tressle that is great for photos and if you walk the top, you get a nice view of the beach as well. You will see that people have put locks and memorials on the top and it is a nice quick stroll. It's also easy to access the top as it is just down the road from glass beach. read more

A beautiful beach and swimmable creek with a stunning trestle bridge that crosses right over. The trestle bridge was once used as a means for trucks to transport logs into the city. Back in the early 1900's, the bridge was actually able to support trucks that weighed up to 200 tons. Overtime, the harsh winter storms began to erode the bridge, making it unsafe to continue to use for transport. Today, the trestle bridge is used by pedestrians to access Pudding Creek, Pudding Creek Beach, and the Fort Bragg Coastal Trail. It's a really beautifully constructed bridge, and it offers some great views of the beach. The beach and creek are both easily accessible from the bridge. It's just a short jaunt down a few rocky steps and a sandy pathway. This area is quite popular and busy, and parking is limited to the street only. Most people just park along Glass Beach Road. There's only ONE portable restroom near the entrance off Glass Beach Road. Hold your nose if you have to go! Both the creek and beach are very family friendly. I saw many kids and families hanging out by the beach and swimming in the creek as well. It's a nice little place for exploration, and not too far from the popular Glass Beach that's just down the road. read more

Right off of Main Street, seems at the end of town. A nice little beachy spot with the soft sand for the young ones to play in. It's a creek along a majestic rock. Warm and shallow water as my girls told me but the wind is cold and fierce. The wooden bridge right above with several people walking and biking across. One of my favorite beaches at Fort Bragg. From the parking lot to the waters may be quite a walk, but it didn't bother me at all. I've visited on a weekday; therefore, it wasn't overly crowded. Majority of the visitors made their way here from a near by lodge or Glass Beach. Some beaches do not allow dogs, but it didn't seem to be the case here. Most but not all had their dog on leashes. Please be courteous for the sake of everyone. read more

This is my third trip to Fort Bragg but my first time visiting this part of their coast. On my drive up to MacKerricher state park earlier this week I noticed this interesting trestle by a beach and read up a bit more about visiting. There is a parking area near the beach and a spot where the river flows in to the ocean. You can access the trestle from the bluffs behind a lodge off to the right of the parking lot. Fantastic views as you walk across in all directions. It was overcast on the day I visited but still spectacular scenery. You can access the beach (which I didn't do) as well walk the bluffs on either side, which made for a nice relaxing way to wind down the day. There were lots of spring wildflowers including the typical coast ice plants, poppies and even Cala lilies. Great for a short walk or catching a sunset in Fort Bragg. Plenty of free parking and easy to find right off highway 1. read more

My previous Pudding Creek 4th of July had been some years back. My father worked in the service industry and more often than not would have to work on major holidays (except Christmas and Thanksgiving not sure how he was able to swing that). But on this particular holiday, he was able to take a two week vacation and packed the car with all of us kids and headed to Ft. Bragg. It was here that my Mom convinced me that she was the best athlete in the family. She could run faster, throw farther and harder than any of us. She was your ultimate jock. On a cool foggy night in early July she critiqued my throwing and was the one who told me not to hold the football on the center, but to move my hand towards the bottom third of the ball. She even took it one step further and to this day is very controversial. "Don't concern yourself with the laces, just grip it and hit your target". Not sure if George Halas would agree, but OK Mom you are the boss. If you have been here you would know about the "squeaky sand". No other sand dune in the world can recreate this sound. The bridge trestle back when I was a kid was about to crumble, but today thanks to local restoration efforts the old train trestle is fully restored. Just minus the train. My mom would be happy with the end result. It's now July 4th 2010 and standing on the trestle waiting for the fireworks on the 4th of July in Ft. Bragg, ca is a tricky proposition. Will it be foggy? cold? windy? Will we even be able to see them? The faithful were still out in full force and yes, no issues with visibility. Much different than my last time here. Not standing with my mom who kept handing me Swedish fish to keep me quiet. This time he dynamic was bit different. Sneaking a bottle of Kentucky Bourbon with my ex girlfriend who was shivering and missing the heat of Arizona. But once the fireworks started up she immediately warmed up and was a trooper. I've traveled to six of seven continents, but it's Ft Bragg which will always be near and dear to my heart. read more

The bridge is so sturdy and unique. This place was actually located right in front of our hotel, making it super convenient to visit. The little beach below is a playground for seagulls. Great photo op at the base of the bridge. At one end of the bridge, you can follow a trail the travels on top of the cliffs overlooking the gorgeous beach and California coast. FYI, if you are a big chicken like me be aware of snakes hiding among their vegetation. read more

This was a great beach for dogs. We had our dogs off leash and we were the only people on the beach with dogs. It was not that far of a walk from the parking lot to the path. The path is a tiny bit steep, but not unmanageable. My wife had to carry our fat wirehair dachshund up the hill when we went back to the car. Unfortunately it started to rain hard and we didn't get to enjoy the beach for as long as I would have liked. read more

Love this trestle bridge! We had a view of it from our hotel room. Very nice, clean and sturdy. The little beach in front of it is perfect. Not crowded at all and a great spot to enjoy the sunset. Make sure to walk across the bridge and enjoy the view from the top! read more

Pudding Creek Beach is a public access beach and is near the southern boundary of MacKerricher State Park. Open for day use only, parking and admission are free. The most notable landmark is an historic redwood railroad trestle flanking the beach that was once used by the local lumber company for hauling logs in from the woods. The trestle was recently restored and reopened to foot traffic. The parking lot on Highway One is small but there is additional parking on the south end of the trestle. To reach this lot, turn west at the Denney's Restaurant on Hwy 1 at Elm St. turn right when Elm St ends at the Old Haul Road and head north and park where the Haul Road ends at the trestle. Seldom much of a crowd here. On the north side of the beach there are some large tide pools at low tide. read more
