My friend and I went to the open art studio workshop this past weekend and it was SO amazing. Shane…read more(the owner and artist) is such an amazing teacher who explained to us the process of cyanotype, showed us the ones he's created and even helped us create our own. I wish I took more photos of his workshop or a video of the process. I was so immersed that I didn't think about it until after. I got a print Shane made (Mendocino is for Merfolk) and got to take home a print I made of the inn I'm staying at. If you ever find yourself in Fort Bragg and want to take home an amazing souvenir, I cannot recommend this place enough. Shane has an insane pre-made collection so no need to make your own if you aren't in the mood. Check out the hours of his open art studio workshop! If you find yourself at the building during those hours but the lights seem to be off and no one is there, make sure to look at the Cyan Art Studio poster in the window. The entrance is around the corner and in the back. The studio's logo is on the door you should enter. We were unsure we were going the right way but lo and behold--the most amazing experience I've had in Fort Bragg to date. Thank you SO much Shane for such incredible memories!

Cyanotype (also known as "blue prints" or "sun prints") was discovered in the 1840s as a way to make beautiful BLUE images using photos, plants and objects. Only UV light and water are needed to process these prints, which make excellent decorations and gifts. Anyone can do it -- no experience is necessary, and our studio has all the equipment and expertise needed to help YOU make something beautiful for yourself, your family or a loved one.
