I always have a good time here. But could it be because I've grown up? Their sandwiches used to be massive and now they're just decent-sized.
Big Bite on Pitt, just the next train station south, serves a genuinely large sandwich worthy of a wow these days.
But nevertheless, let's assess the sandwich on its own merit. This time I got one of its regular menu items, the Disco Pork. Not sure what's so disco about it, I don't exactly feel like I ate a party. But that's not a slight, just odd, that's all. But hey, I'm pretty knowledge-free so comment back and tell me why, if you know.
So, the sandwich:
Sauce: I was expecting something spicy, given the description (I forget, but it said something about spicy). I was going to go halves with a colleague but opted against it in the end, given he couldn't handle spice. But my afterthought was, he definitely could've handled it. Would've given me dibs on his sandwich too! The sauce was tasty enough and did go well with the pork I suppose, just could've been spicier. It tasted like a tomato-based sauce with a slightly peppery taste (which I like), along with mayo... all in all, it was tasty, but wasn't like boom boom pow that was awesome.
Fillings: The pork was very moist, and salad fresh... couldn't be better. Maybe pork served hotter?
Bread: Got brown Vienna - great as always.
Overall: For $9, in Sydney City... couldn't be beat. Big Bite on Pitt does charge $10 for its larger serving. read more
