They had not seen the dentist for any work. I went in because my tooth was killing me. I could not tell which tooth was hurting me because I was in so much pain. They did $345 of X-rays and the dentist looked in my mouth, NEVER TOUCHED ANY OF MY TEETH TO FIGURE OUT WHICH TOOTH IT WAS, she looked only at the X-ray and said it's two of my teeth. Sent me to an oral surgeon to have them removed. Well, they were not the teeth hurting me but now I don't have two teeth. She then would not send a referral over for the actual tooth that was killing me. I went to a new dentist and they said yeah that tooth has to be removed that it can't be saved. So now three teeth gone instead of one. I should have had the choice to remove the two teeth that were not hurting me. The oral surgeon is a whole other story. I told him no one had touched my tooth and before I spent $1000 to have them remove is he sure those are the ones hurting me. Well, as we know he made a mistake too. Total failure on them. A dentist and an oral surgeon should actually touch your teeth before removing them and do a cold test or tap test or something. I don't understand how none of this was done. I was in so much pain I was relying on a dentist knowing what they were doing.

She made an appointment and the day before her cleaning, they harassed her with texts to fill out paperwork. She had to go to work so I helped her fill out the online paperwork. I filled in 4 or 5 pages of tedious repetitive questions with lots of unneeded jargon. I electronically signed the form as her parent and then there was 2 more pages that my daughter signed..apparently, in small print, they wrote that payment is due day of services but not very prominent in their ads and marketing, granted, I gave all insurance info as requested and as with any dentist I've ever visited, they ask for that to send in the claim. Our insurance pays 100% of preventative services. She, as a young vulnerable new patient, went in and they said you know we are holistic?, being inexperienced, she said ok not knowing what that meant? She talked to front desk employee who told her everything was covered by insurance. She had cleaning and X-rays for a total of $574. They made her pay that onsite and said they are out of network with ALL insurances as they don't want insurance dictating their plan(red flag there) she is a preschool asst teacher making hardly anything and now doesn't have enough to pay rent. I reached out to see if they could agree to a payment plan and they said no. She had to pay all of that at once.. no payment plan options and they didn't make it clear to her that as a young customer to explain what she would have to pay. Now they say she might get 50% back because they are out of network! I am appalled that a practice like this even stays in business. All employees should be versed in explaining how much they may have to pay up front for something that would cost NOTHING at any other dentist. Guess it pays to research beforehand. I didn't even think any dentists even do this anymore and are not in network. Very disappointed...must use our hard earned money to pay for their fancy location...

I read the bio for Dr.Duncan and saw they also provided Invisalign which I just so happened to be looking for as well. After seeing this office as a good fit for our needs, it was super easy to get started with requesting an appointment and filling out the paperwork (you can do this all online!) The first visit was three kids back to back..(yes we took the whole family!) It was such a great experience, the kids became comfortable right away. They have a dinosaur with teeth that you can brush with a toothbrush...it was a hit with the kids. Plus a TV for them to watch while they lounged out in the chair to have their teeth counted and looked at. Overall it was a great experience!

I was considering not going back since my experience was so abysmal. But I contacted the school and informed them of how incredibly disappointed I was in the student for so many reasons. They apologized profusely and offered to assign a different student. I was hesitant, but agreed to a new student assignment. I cannot express how completely happy I am with the new assignment. His name is Landon Guy and he is the epitome of what all current and future dentists should strive for. He is knowledgeable, enthusiastic, kind, highly-skilled, creative, not at all condescending. He explains everything he's going to do before he does it. When he makes a suggestion for treatment, he always asks for my input. And he listens to my opinion. And he has a great sense of humor, which is always a bonus! My dental appointment anxiety is just about non-existent due to Landon's expertise. When he graduates, I fully expect to continue as his patient wherever he begins to practice.

However, one of my filling experiences was pretty unpleasant and distressing. The doctor couldn't get the area numb. When I expressed pain when she worked on the area, she continued to add anesthesia but it wasn't working. She then kept asking me if I was nervous and appeared skeptical that I was feeling pain (as if, how could that be possible after 2-3 shots). That made me feel very dismissed. I honestly wanted to leave prior to the procedure being done. I have had probably at least a dozen fillings and never a problem with numbing. And also never anxious.... Until that moment. Finally, she added a shot into the nerve that did the trick but the process was so unpleasant and I felt so dismissed (as if I was making pain up). I've never had an experience like that for all the fillings (and root canal) that I've gotten in the past.

I think I was more nervous than the kids to try out a new dentist after moving here, but in the end, I had nothing to worry about. First, from a special needs prospective, the staff here can't be beat. There were two technicians working on my daughter and they did an amazing job of putting her at ease while doing the cleaning. Cleaning can be difficult and traumatic for someone who cannot easily open their mouth, lean in this way, tell when it hurts, etc. I was able to sit with her legs in my lap on the chair, and she was relaxed and did not express discomfort at any point. I really appreciated the time and care they gave to my daughter. For my other two, this was the little guy's first appointment, and my middle's first experience with cavities! Again, both instances were far better than expected. The staff is very friendly and patient, which is refreshing when a lot of their day can be accompanied by screaming children. I've never seen anyone "frazzled' or impatient, and they are incredibly receptive to discomfort or fear. The waiting room is great, and the best part--they give tokens to take to the prize machines after the cleaning! My middle child still talks about how fun that is. If I had to offer a criticism (always leave room for improvement, right?) the bar stools in the private rooms are not super comfortable. They have great comfy benches and magazines in the general cleaning area. I cannot recommend Dr. Chandak and the staff at Brooks & Chandak enough.
