A love a good day trip to Little Switzerland. As an avid skier, it's not the biggest hill with long runs, but it does the trick for a quick day trip from Milwaukee. The cafe offers a good lunch, and lots of seating at the bar when you need to come in for a beer to warm up. The fireplaces are cozy if it's nice enough to sit outside. When you're itching for a winter excursion close to the city, this ski resort is for you! It's great for beginnings learning to ski or snowboard and family friendly. They have a a good variety of terrain with bunny hills, levels of terrain difficulty including freestyle. You can bring your own gear or rent from the resort. Their two level chalet holds a gear shop, ticket counter, rental shop, and two different places to eat on each floor. I would recommend the second level cafe with lots of food and drink options but the first level has the hot dog. The second level has a nice view of the slopes, and has multiple TVs if you want to stay updated with sports and current events :) You can order decently-priced food via their QR code and you get notified with a text message. read more

Awesome awesome ski resort. I'm a beginner snowboarder and I try to snowboard wherever and whenever I can because there's nothing down in Tennessee. Work brought me to Milwaukee and although most of them are just hills, I took advantage of bringing my board with me. My colleague works as a Ski Patrol/Trainer for Little Switz, so he convinced me to give it a try. I couldn't be more pleased. There's plenty of lifts and ways to get up the slopes, I never had to wait very long. I'm not going down black diamonds but the blue squares were challenging enough (and fun). All the employees are super nice and there's plenty of variety despite some of the slopes being closed. I was there for 9 hours and would definitely go back. I wish I had access to places like these. read more

Little Switzerland, a ski resort in Slinger, Wisconsin, was chosen as the location for our 50th High School Reunion. I knew of it but, in all the years I lived in the area, I had never actually been there. For our reunion group of we'll over a hundred this was a very good place with friendly staff, great service, good food, and a convenient location just off the freeway. I do want to repeat kudos to how the staff were able to make things go so smoothly. When you are trying to focus on who all of these people are and concentrating on putting together names with pictures of faces from our high school days that, fortunately, someone had the good sense to add to our name badges. The Little Switzerland facilities were clean and well maintained, including the restrooms. Also, there was more than enough parking available even for a much larger group. Overall I thought this was a great selection for our reunion. read more

We arrived and immediately there were multiple employees not properly wearing masks. Many, many customers not wearing masks at all. There were far too many people dining inside with zero distancing. Literally zero effort was made or enforced inside to keep people safe. One employee on the ski lift was telling people masks were required to ride. He was the only employee I heard all day who mentioned the mask requirement. It was a nightmare. read more

I went there last year and they had a pretty good amount of runs considering there's no mountains in Milwaukee. But since they don't have mountains their runs are shorter than the other mountains I've been to. Their park runs have every thing you need, their black diamonds are ok, their employees are very kind and helpful and the employees that teach skiing and snowboarding are informative and friendly. Their lounge is pretty good, it has two or three floors, I can't remember. The food is good, just for a quick snack I would recommend the pizza sticks with marinara sauce. Their pro shop has some variety. I think they can get better rental boots because some of the laces are torn up and part of the boot is ripped. But overall this place is great for every rider. read more

Beautiful place.. Upon arrival, checked in, picked up my lift ticket and headed over to the school area as I had a lesson scheduled. I do have to say prior to arriving on this date I had to reschedule a couple of times and Gretchen was so nice, friendly and accommodating. Overall, the place is very organized, clean, and well kept, my instructor for that day was Michael D, super nice guy and patient. He took his time and I was able to understand what he was teaching.i will definitely be coming back here. read more

Very unprofessional staff, owner felt the need to pawn me off to the manager ( yes I know it was the owner) my girls were wrong however the staff and management threatened the girls with a taser and bullied them. The staff has been awful for years , this was the cherry on top Food prices are obnoxious, and was charged $80 for a lift ticket over the phone which the highest ticket ( an all day pass) was $45. I have been here a handful of times and have normally always enjoyed coming here. I drive 2 hours every time however I will not be returning. A group of kids on the slopes were being very rude and inappropriate and come to find out they work there. They we name calling and one of them went to the extent to hit me. The kids that work there were threatening to revoke my day pass and called their manage Scott (Scott was very polite and handled the situation) however I am still very upset that the situation happened and the kids that represent the hill are very immature. read more

Usually, I love little Switzerland. Mostly because it's close enough to home for me and the family to get a quick ski fix after work or on the weekend. But not this year (2020/2021). As much as they promised (and they promised hard!) to convince people to purchase their season passes, within 2 weeks of opening the slopes their enforcement of masks and distancing went downhill faster than their race team. By the time we'd been there 4 times (on boring weekdays, trying to avoid the crowds) , it was pointless. The first time, things were looking not bad. Not great, but definitely trying. By the 4th visit I felt less comfortable in the lift lines than I do in grocery store lines. Masks under chins, some with none at all, people getting right up next to you in lines and talking their heads off, oblivious to being able to see their foggy breath as it meanders through the line. And don't even think to go indoors. Maskless morons everywhere. Sorry if I insult, but my safety should not depend on your sophomoric rebellious spirit! I get it. I speed on the highway too. But this is more akin to running red lights with your eyes closed. Not ok. And to put icing on the cake, some of the staff members obviously couldn't care less, blaring out unmasked instructions over the heads of people in line, more worried about who's up next than who's in ICU next. The good? If you decide to quit going this season, Little Switzerland will save a prorated amount of your season pass for next year. In my opinion, that's a little weak for the promises they made (check their website, then check their slopes and buildings), but I'll take it. Plus this review. Sorry Little Switz, but it's only fair. read more

I do not recommend little Switzerland. I mistakenly tried little Switzerland on a Saturday and there were far too many people for this tiny mountain. Many teens are season pass holders who will cut you in line and ride much too close to you. More importantly, this place is extremely small for any experienced rider as it takes about 30 seconds to ride down for every 30 minutes to get up the mountain due to long lines, kids cutting, and no fast lifts going up. The only reason I gave this review 2 stars is due to a well kept terrain park but it is ridiculous how long you have to wait to get back up. I wish I would have spent the extra $20 to visit Alpine or Cascade which are much better options in the area. read more

Little Switz, oh where to start? Well, it has been closed for the past 5 years, letting Sunburst become one of the already few options for skiing in South East Wisconsin. Little Switzerland was one of my favorite - no, wait - it was my favorite place to ski as a kid. Even though it was small, it was about 20 - 30 minutes from my house and had so much variety. I think there were well over 10 different runs at the time - now there are 17 trails. They kept a few runs the same - Shorty's (the steep drop of a run in the back) and Big Deal (the black diamond on the front that is usually used for Nastar or High School races). They also renamed a run to "1941" - the year that the original hill opened. They have top of the line snow making equipment now and have even fixed up the chairlifts (replacing gears on what not). Let's face it, those chairs were getting to be pretty unsafe. Now they have a backup motor that is run on propane - just enough to get everyone off the chair, should they need it. The quad-lift is gone - that was the best chair to teach a beginner on, but they replaced it with paddle tows, which is probably safer for beginners. The old loading shack has been re-purposed as a heating room for lessons and Snowstar. Making it really easy on cold days to quickly warm up or for parents to watch their kids. Though, they should install at least a unisex bathroom in there - instead of the porta-potty next to it, but believe me, as a past instructor from there, I will send a kid in there if it's an emergency. My favorite part of Lil' Switz remains intact though, it is the high speed rope tow on the side of Big Deal. You can get up the hill just as fast (or faster) as it takes to make it down. Making it possible to make 60 laps in an hour - if your grip can withstand that many tows. So, yes, bring some rope tow guards for your glove - or buy the leather gloves at Farm and Fleet. Also, this is a great way up if you're trying to master that grab off the jump and don't want to delay the time in between your attempts. Now, they have 3 terrain parks too - a beginner (for rails), intermediate (for learning how to launch off a jump), and advanced (for everyone to see at the bar - and yes, we're cheering you on!). The lodge! It has major improvements, the death trap, steel staircase going up to the second level from the outside is gone. The rickety steel bridge from the upper parking lot to the side of the lodge, gone. The owners really opened up the space, moved the cafeteria downstairs, made rentals less dreary, and made the upstairs far more adult friendly with a bar that isn't hidden behind a mysterious black 5 foot high wall. Though, I believe they are calling the upstairs "Little Swiss" now, I don't get where that name is coming from - it's Little Switz! My concern about the reopen, knowing it closed its doors for so long was 'how long with this last'? Sounds like the new owners first learned how to ski back in the day at Little Switzerland and they also own Nordic Mountain and Blackjack Resort. Okay, I trust they know what they're doing and this little hill claims a sense of nostalgia for them. I can see Little Switz staying in business for quite some time, now let's just hope the Snow Gods favor us and start bringing us some much needed snow for many more seasons to come! read more

This was a wonderful spot to spend a Saturday afternoon. Me and my group of friends were at a different ski resort earlier in the day when that place ran out of rentals right when we got there. Instead of canceling our entire ski day we decided to drive north up to Little Switzerland for the first time. We were very impressed with how everything was ran there. Having the double sided mountain is a wonderful feature, and being able to guarantee our spot by ordering our lift tickets online was very reassuring. They have a good priced lift ticket, and the rentals were clean. For being a Saturday in January crowds were not too busy. The staff was very friendly all throughout the ski area. Coming from an hour and a half south this ski hill is becoming one of my favorites in the Midwest. Can't wait to ski here again! read more

Prior to this season I would've given Little Switzerland more stars, but this year was disappointing. I've been going there for a couple seasons now (and also love its 'sister hill' Nordic Mountain in Wild Rose) and although it's small, I've enjoyed it. Finally got there this season and was disappointed. They've turned many of the runs into mogul runs or 'freestyle terrain,' so if you just want to ski down a hill there's not many options. And I barely ever see anyone using those runs, so they're not popular. That in turn makes the 'regular' runs more crowded because there's less options for people. I went last week and only went down Death Valley the entire night because it was my only real option. Not to mention when we went there were three buses of school kids there that had no idea what good skiing etiquette was and would cut in front of you (on the hill, in line for the lift, etc.). I get that's not really Little Switzerland's fault, but still annoying. Also, they used to have Mint and Caramel Bailey's that you could get in your hot chocolate-it was a tradition we'd do every time we took a break in the lodge. Last week I was told they just had 'regular' and Hazelnut Bailey's-what?! It was still good with the regular, but that Caramel was so good, bummed they got rid of it. read more

Went here on a Sunday after a snow, so it was crowded. The inside of the lodge was essentially a Covid hot zone. Each time we had to go in, multiple people were walking around without masks. I'm not talking about little kids or a few careless teens, or people eating or letting their masks slip for a second. I mean dozens of people of all ages not wearing masks, including grown-ups who absolutely knew better. Signs on the windows say "masks required," but no one's enforcing it. Many employees had masks on but weren't covering their noses. No air purifiers within sight. Hundreds, if not thousands of people, went through the lodge that day. Given the terrible Covid stats around here, a bunch of contagious people had to have been there. Seemed like a "super-spreader event," frankly. It was easily the most dangerous place I've been since the pandemic started. Way worse than a trip to the grocery store or the pharmacy. Frankly, I'm very concerned that we got exposed and I would not be at all surprised if one or all of us get sick. Many of their employees will get infected if this kind of thing continues.  If we had never stepped inside, I'd give Little Switzerland four stars. Not all the runs were open, but it's early in the season. They're making snow like crazy, so they're trying. The folks manning the lifts were friendly, and our ski teacher was kind, patient, and helpful. We all had fun on the slopes, and the rental equipment held up and fit well. There's an outdoor gas fire pit. They had a food truck, so you could buy food and eat outdoors. But you couldn't sit and eat at the picnic tables by the food truck, since a snow machine was dousing the area. They needed to adjust for the wind. In all, we may be back. Folks need to get outside and exercise this winter, especially given the pandemic. But we are going to do everything we can to avoid stepping foot inside that lodge. Like rent equipment from elsewhere, send one fully-masked person in (alone) to retrieve lift tickets, buy food only from the truck, and use the restrooms in the warming hut. In closing, I urge them to make changes before more people get sick. As far as ideas, a ticket-sales window that faces outside would be nice, and ending indoor food and drink sales, although expensive for the business, is the moral thing to do. But as a first step, how about enforcing the rules? Be polite about it, sure. But do it. read more

Little Swiss is best for adults when school is in session. I made the mistake of going on a Friday when school was out for an in-service and the kids completely over-run the place. They cut in line, throw snow balls from the lift and the staff does little about it. I recommend this location for beginner to intermediate skill, and again, only when school is in session. read more

Little does not even begin to describe this place. It should be called tiny or maybe dinky or maybe just plain puny. Either way this is not the place if you enjoy at least a few decent runs. Now don't get me wrong if I had little kids I might consider bringing them here. They would probably love it. If your a seasoned rider though you will be immediately bored. There is not much of anything here aside from a good bar. Never will I waste time coming here again because it fulfilled not a single thing i was looking for. I took 2 "runs" and called it a wrap. Little Switz is a great place to learn to ski because of its bunny hill. The bunny hill is an easy way to learn to ski on a little hill. It has a magic carpet or a tow rope to bring you to the top. They also have hills for people who have skied before. They have greens that are very mellow and easy, but they also have blues and blacks which are steeper and longer. If you are looking for a place to ski with people, and any difficulty level, this is a great option. The Little Switz ski area is also a great place for advanced people who ride the terrain park. They have three different terrain parks 102.1, Expedition Supply Park, and 41 Park. 102.1 is the easiest park with just a few boxes and maybe some jumps depending on the time of year. Expedition supply park is a medium terrain park with some good rails and some medium jumps. 41 park is the hardest park with the biggest features. Depending on the time of year they will have one jump, two jumps, or three jumps. These jumps are big and help you get lots of air. They have rails and boxes that are longer and harder. These parks are different and they switch them around about every 3 weeks, Depending on the time of year they differ due to the amount of snow, but these parks are very fun to ride with your friends and family. If you are trying to find a place to ski with anyone with a great community and workers, Little Switz is the place for you. The people there are so nice. If you are struggling they will help you with anything. They have ski teachers who are so nice and will help you learn how to ski. The workers here are cheerful and will help you with anything. The people there will help you and teach you to learn any trick or get down any hill. Little Switz is a great place to ski or snowboard for anyone no matter your ability level. Due to its variety of hills of any difficulty level, its awesome terrain parks, and its amazing community Little Switz is a great place to ski and snowboard with friends or family. read more

Little Switzerland opened for the season this weekend, and we went out there for dinner on Friday. We didn't ski, but we thought we would try them for dinner. They have a pretty large restaurant, and they were really busy. We found a table at the bar, and decided to just have drinks and appetizers instead of waiting for a table. The wait would have been only 25 minutes for a table, which wasn't bad at all on a Friday night. We had old fashioneds. They were great you could tell they were muddled and made with sugar, the way they should be. For appetizers we had BBQ wings, nachos, and chicken strips. The nachos were huge, and had a great cheese sauce. It was not just the typical yellow sauce from a pump. The BBQ wings were also great. They had a great flavor and the right amount of sauce. The chicken strips were also great. Our server Anna was very busy, but that didn't stop her from providing excellent service! We'll definitely be back. Even if you aren't a skier give the place a try for dinner. read more

1st time here, and it was fun! Nicely spread out so it never seemed packed. The attendants were on point with the ski lifts and were monitoring everything with ease and mindfulness. There are enough different trails to fit all ski levels . I went in around 2pm and my boot size was not available, and the check in/out rental process is tad outdated with all the paper shuffling compared to wilmont with the scanners- but everything else is great. Went here on vacation with my doe. What a cute little town. I tried skiing for the first time and had a delicious margarita (heavy on the salt please!!). A lot of the chalets remind me of houses near the swamp I grew up in. Looking forward to going back and giving snowboarding a try, and more salty margaritas! read more

I took a private ski lesson at Little Switzerland last weekend. NEVER having skied before, I was excited but understandably nervous. I can't say enough good things about my instructor, Steve. He was fun, patient, and excellent at guiding me through some basic steps. By the end of my hour & a half lesson (all the others I had checked in the area were only an hour, for the record), I was feeling excited & much more confident in the entire skiing process. I honestly can't wait to try skiing again sometime soon! All the other instructors we encountered during my time there were all very friendly, fun & seemed super knowledgeable. Little Switz might have a reputation for being a small hill, but it was perfect for a newbie like me! read more

Little Switzerland is the best family bonding and wholesome experience we have had in years. We skied 13 times this 2016/17 season. I think I encountered the entire staff there and could not have been treated more sincerely. I wish I could thank everyone of them especially the grounds crew, who tirelessly fought to keep the snow groomed, the snow at on and off the lifts, and building and rebuilding the terrain parks. The atmosphere in the bar and on the deck was always up beat. All of us made dozens of friends. I haven't skied other places since the 80's but the word on the hill is Little Switz is a pretty good value. People were telling me they left Sunburst and Nordic after considering the value. I'm older and my kids have been boarding for 3 years so Switz is a great fit for us. That's what I'm basing the 5 stars on. Can't wait till December 2017; let's hope for tons of snow. read more

I was here for mountain Biking. Best Snowboarding and Mountain Biking in the area as there are no Mountains in Southeastern Wisconsin. When you are mountain Biking always be sure to check out the Shoreline and Wheel and Sprocket tent. Those guys are super cool. If you have any repairs to do, Pop by the wheel and sprocket guys. Darling little ski spot. I thought that it was much cleaner than some other local hills. We were there yesterday and it was blissfully uncrowded and pleasant. We were very impressed by the staffing levels and the fact that the staff was unusually helpful. Even the wait staff was better than average. It looks like they have made updates to their building, the bathrooms were clean, & there was no wait to get a lift ticket. I was there supervising my little snowboarder, who liked the steep runs. Overall, a very pleasant, friendly, and affordable spot. read more

ABSOLUTE RIP OFF! DONT EAT THERE FOOD UNLESS YOU ARE MADE OF MONEY! I go to little Switzerland a lot in the winter to snowboard but the chalet and even the cafe down stairs is an absolute rip-off. The small hill is expensive enough to ride, combine that with the absolutely horrible food prices, it is NOT WORTH IT. The price for cheese curds is like 6-7$ and don't get me started on all the other things up stairs in the chalet. The reason I'm posting this review is that yesterday, I was snowboarding and heard about the all you can eat spaghetti dinner fundraiser. My friend and I payed $11 per person to get the "all you can eat" spaghetti. We got 1 plate of mediocre spaghetti before they took all the food away from the buffet without even asking if we wanted more. We both payed $11 for one plate of mediocre spaghetti. I can't believe how horrible the service there is in the chalet as they didn't even ask if we wanted more to eat, they just took it away and we were the only ones in the buffet room. Without a doubt this place is a rip off, from the cafe to the chalet and even to the lift passes, this place is lucky to even get a 1/5 stars. If only there was a 0/5 stars option. I have to pay 10$ to get into the place after spending $350 on a season pass, earns a fat 1 star. Good thing I spent $350 on a garbage dump, great times going to switz and emptying my bank account I recommend this place!!!! 1/5 starts without a doubt. read more

I'll just list the issues around the Responsibility Code: 1. Riding Lifts - No line control with lifts. Kids and teens ducking ropes that create the staging lanes. Only one lift attendant who's busy loading skiers. Riders/skiers coming in "hot" to the lift out of control and taking out other riders (happened three times). 2. Skiers out of control/"over terrained" (take a lesson, learn to turn and you have a better chance of staying on your skis and not face first in the icy snow...). 3. Right of way - I was downhill, perpendicular to the fall line on the side of the run in plain sight from top to bottom (short runs, not that hard to do). My tips of skis get hit by skier who decided to try ski between me and the trees. skied down to the lift, found the teen and asked why? Kid explained that "they like to go fast and play tag". I explained about right of way and skiing in control. His friends chimed in with the same excuse. They apologized when I threatened to call Patrol. This was my second time skiing at Little Swiss, first time was a Sunday night as I was invited to a ski manufacture demo. That was fun. This time will be my last. Only counted two ski patrol the four hours on the hill and staffing on lifts was short. I instruct at a hill locally and in CO resorts - Little Swiss, in my opinion has the potential of being a fun place if management would just make a few changes to create a more safe environment for guests. read more
