One year ago, almost to the day, I moved from Atlanta, GA to Los Angeles with one massive couch, 65 boxes and a smile on my face. I was starting a brand new life in LA with an awesome (but incredibly busy) new job and a new apartment 6 blocks from the beach in Santa Monica. That smile quickly turned into pitiful daily tears when reality set in that I was going to have to start over with decorating an entire apartment from top to bottom while learning a new city and new job. Lots of people love home decorating...They love the shopping, the searching for deals, the looking up of things on Pinterest....well NOT ME!! To set the scene appropriately, this was not some beautiful new apartment but rather an apartment from 1971, complete with popcorn ceilings, brown plush carpet, a pepto pink front door and a green AstroTurf walkway. Shanna immediately saw the potential in this little Santa Monica gem and encouraged me to get it and she would help me make it fabulous. Shanna worked with me for MONTHS on every single room and consulted with me on just about every single thing that I have purchased from big furniture to rugs to pillow covers to shower curtains, to dining curtains, to wall décor, even to plants that would work in my space due to my lack of natural light in some rooms. I found myself sending Shanna excessive photos options at all hours of the day before I would make a purchase and she always helped me figure out exactly what I needed with an eye that I sincerely trust. Besides the decorating, Shanna is simply a jack of all trades when it comes to pulling your home life together. She is resourceful and most of all, knows the who's, what's and where's when it comes to getting things done around the home. Also, I know her to be a master of gallery walls. I just have to write a quick review on Shanna . I am a busy professional who travels a lot and had a complete remodel (due to a water loss) in the midst of a major product launch at my company. I couldn't think! I didn't know what to do with the mounds of papers, boxes and furniture. I needed to maximize my space and create separate areas in my open concept beach condo. Where do I even start?! I started using Shanna when I moved to LA from NYC 7 years ago. Since then I have moved 5 times personally, 6 if you include my move here for which I initially hired her, 7 if you include a work move I hired her for. Shanna has been a complete lifesaver during every move. I basically don't have to worry about a thing. She is hyper organized, efficient with her time (your money), pays attention to detail and has great organizational idea to eliminate clutter in your life and all with a touch of design! And she tries as hard as she can to get information up front so that she doesn't have to bother you with anything during the move. This last move (hopefully my LAST move) was just exceptional. I was leaving on a two week trip to Europe and entrusted not only the entire move to Shanna but also entrusted her with the supervision of the installation of new carpets, painting of the entire condo, childproofing and purchase of any organizational furniture/tools and little inexpensive design elements we would need to make our new home comfortable, livable and looking good. I have two year old twins so she had a huge job in front of her! She had to make the place safe and fun for them but still adult like for me and my husband. I can't even tell you how wide my grin has been since we moved back in as I sit in my specially designed office nook she put together or as I look at my kids enjoying their new play area. Oh another thing.. seriously I can go on and on but I will stop after this...She is also super good of walking you through the "tossing" process. I save everything and now with twins I realize I need to make room for them. She helps you rationalize giving things away and stop the hoarding! The most common reaction we receive from people who enter our vacation rental home for the first time is "WOW....!!!". It was certainly the way I felt the first time I walked in the door after Shanna finished furnishing and decorating it. I would do her injustice if I'd say that's all she did though. She essentially took an old dump and turned into a romantic rustic modern living space. Shanna took this project and brought her optimistic cheerful vibrant self to enlighten and inspire everyone involved. She replaced the awful cluttered floor plan and came up with a new open flow. She took the time to pick materials that would work well with the vibe we hoped to bring into the place. She worked with our electrician on finalizing the lighting plan for the recess lights. She suggested repainting the doors in a bold color that I would never pick myself but turned out amazing. She helped make a thousand good decision in a flick of a moment. She bought things to organize our drawers and our closets (the guests are raving about them!). She brought amazing art pieces, found high quality blinds, modern and sturdy furniture pieces - all at great cost or on sale (saved me hundreds if not thousands of dollars in the process). Bottom line, Shanna just took charge and went with it. She made everyone excited while going through this very tough project. I can tell you this though, she's definitely much much more than a home organizer or a home decorator. I can't wait to buy another rental vacation home and do this all over again with her. HIGHLY RECOMMEND! Hiring Shanna was one of the best things we could've done for our move. She got us on track with our clutter. She came for a consultation on a Wednesday and started work on the following Tuesday. She completely unpacked and organized everything in such an efficient and clever way. My husband who was initially skeptical of hiring an organizer is now a believer. She worked her magic on his office and closets. He loves to brag about how neat his workspace is. So glad I contacted Shanna. My clutter was bigger than me. Shanna walked in to my one bedroom apartment where the last 20 boxes remained from my move from the East Coast. At the end of Day 1 those boxes were broken down for donation and their contents were ready to be put away where they belonged or loaded in the car for donation. As Jessica mentioned in her review, and Dina as well, Shanna also helped me understand the decision process for releasing items that no longer have value for me. I now have space in my apartment plus I no longer spend time searching for items since everything is now where it should be. Shanna worked out solutions in harmony with my current mindset, for example, I'm not ready to move the litter box out of my bathroom, and she mentioned an alternate solution that I might consider down the road. 'Keep' or 'toss' decisions were left up to me. No judgment when I just had to keep that item from so many years ago. Shanna must have realized how burnt out I had become, so she scheduled a meet up at her favorite furniture store where we browsed and I could see rooms set up as complete examples of bedroom or living room, even outdoor furnishing ideas. My new furniture has started to arrive and I am enjoying the process of designing my dream home. Little Simplicity uncluttered my home and work area, and in doing so...uncluttered my life! I can't begin to explain what organized surroundings do for your mental health. Shanna was very professional and direct, yet unintrusive and sensitive to my needs. My bedroom and office were a mess, with no rhyme or reason to the way things were laid out. My daily routine had me bouncing around like a pinball machine. She set it up in a way that gave me about 30% more space, as well as a sensible flow to where things needed to go dictated by comfort and priority. Its not everyday you let a person into your personal space, but I'm glad I did, and I'm glad it was her. Shanna is truly as good as it gets! It's been a little over a week since she worked her magic with the two rooms that NEEDED order. My 2 yr old daughter had too many toys in her room and it started to become very overwhelming, to the point where I couldn't even deal with. Shanna came in, took charge and had her way with the room. She is totally hands on and only called on me when she absolutely needed to. Once she was done she explained where things were and why. We can actually find things in that room now! Can you say Aaah MAY Zinggggg! The room looks like it belongs in Pottery Barn for kids. Simply fantastic! When we bought our home in the Lake Tahoe area, we needed some help to furnish our home with a designer's touch to give it that mountain rustic feel. After interviewing several designers, my wife and I decided to go with Shanna because of her style and the way she worked. It really worked for us. We communicated with Shanna mostly via email, due to our proximity, and it worked well for us. The project came in on time and on budget. Shanna selected beautiful pieces and decorated our home perfectly. Not only did she select the pieces for us, she also dealt with the delivery and assembly of things that need to be assembled. Shanna basically managed the entire project for us and we didn't have to worry about much. The final product was beyond our expectations and we are very happy with her work. We were most impressed that she listened to what we wanted and designed accordingly. Shanna, thank you for coming into my life. I was beyond overwhelmed and no where near organized in my life. I had recently moved in with my new husband, we had a baby, and was going back to work full time. It all just literally piled up on me in every sense of the word. I didn't even know where to begin. Perhaps the most beneficial thing was her sitting down with my boss and establishing where he's going to his things.
