Slather some on and don't get sunburned! They also have a cafeteria, outdoor shower, and restrooms near the parking lot.

It is comparable in terms of appearance, surf, and sand to Cooper's Beach just down the road. The parking area backs up to the bay and had gorgeous views at sunset. Try coming here in the evening not to sun yourself but to watch the birds and glowing sunset! By then it is much easier to park, too...

If you don't, you'll be ticketed over and over again by the bay constable until you move your car, unlike other places in the city where you can remain parked once you get a ticket. So be warned! One really annoying thing is that people bring their dogs during off hours and some will bury their dogs waste in the sand instead of picking it up... If you're gonna own a dog... Own all of it, people!!! Still this beach has some awesome sand and great views of the ocean, amazing sunsets and equally beautiful full moon and stars view at night too! Multiple parking areas but one central area with spaces for bikes and electric cars and life guards and a hot and cold food shack with shower and bathroom facilities that was all rebuilt last year and looks beautiful.

It's the beach no one really knows about because the masses come off the bridge and head straight thinking they've arrived at "The Hamptons" If you're coming off the bridge and don't want to be near the crowds? Make a right. A mile and a 1/2 down the road is Tiana Beach. They have a changing/bathrooms for both Men & Woman. The bathrooms aren't dirty but they aren't pristine. Tiana Beach also rents chairs and umbrellas if you need. This is a nice beach with life guards. Its more of a low key, family beach. The Hampton Bays beaches are my favorite because there are no hotel guests so its not too popular with the tourists and people who want to be seen. Its geared towards families and local folks.

I've been inside a few times, but not since I was a little kid (my mom spoke of being shunned there for breast feeding, which she felt was tantamount to a human rights violation). I guess it's alright, although I never saw the point of having a salt water pool in the first place, and everything inside is designed to make you sure you're in the most exclusive of resort towns. I gave it three stars, but whatever - I don't think I'll ever go inside there again. Not my scene. Not a healthy one.
