It is also close to Kanab, where Best Friends Animal Sanctuary is, and Coral Pink Sand Dunes State Park. There is plenty to do in the area. There is a main, large house that has a few bedrooms - it includes a big living area, kitchen, etc. But, I opted for a completely separate cabin right next door and I loved it. It was so clean and fresh. There's a separate bedroom area, bathroom, and full, huge kitchen. It was cold, so there was a beautiful (fake) fireplace and a heater that kept the cabin nice and warm. It has a very cool Southwestern décor that is perfect. There are birdfeeders all around with hummingbirds, and a variety of small birds - and the scenery is beautiful in the area. You turn into a secluded drive (if you don't see the sign for it, you'll miss it) - cross a little bridge over a creek, and go up a hill to the main house. You are immediately greeted by the adorable and sweet Rocket the dog. The innkeepers, Terry and Audrey, are a wonderful and welcoming couple. In the morning, they were a great team cooking a fabulous breakfast; both are very interesting, kind people. The breakfast was delicious eggs and homemade pancakes, along with fresh fruit, orange juice, and a great cup of coffee! Plenty of good eats! The cabin was filled with a lot of DVD's, and more magazines than you could ever read about the area. There is also high-speed wireless internet. There is a regular TV and DVD player, but I don't know if there is cable TV. Consider yourself lucky if you get accommodations here - is a great place to stay, and deserves its fantastic reviews!

Buffalo Bistro restaurant is located next door which features some exotic meals of wild game. I am sorry I got there late and missed the experience. The Smith Hotel has two floors and is on Hwy 89 in Glendale, Utah. The hotel is 45 minutes to Zion National Park, 60 miles to Bryce Canyon and 15 miles to Escalante so it is ideally located for those that wish to explore dynamic southwestern Utah. I was staying as part of a road trip of national parks. Having spent the day at Zion, I choose the Smith Hotel in part because it was on my way to Bryce Canyon. Arriving at 7:30 PM, I was greeted by Rochelle and Mike the owners. Rochelle and Mike are very accommodating hosts explaining what was available at the hotel and showing me my room ($79 + tax). This was a budget price when compared to most places in and around Zion or Bryce. The room was on the second floor. A private bath quaintly decorated was just across from my room. The room itself featured a rustic look. The frame was of local wood construction with a western log foot and headboard. It was a full sized bed and I got a good nights sleep. My stay was in May and I did not need the a/c. Breakfast begins at 8 Am not sooner which was difficult for because I usually wake-up at 6 A.M.. I had the whole wheat waffles with cranberries, nuts... The conversation was lively at breakfast and Rochelle and Mike gave me some good advise about how to proceed to Bryce Canyon. I ended up taking the scenic route which is what I came to southern Utah to see. I had some geology stops along the way thanks to Mike's knowledge of the area. Date of stay: May 2013

Living near the beach has it's perks but one thing we don't experience at home is snow.  During our stay we experienced light snow flurries.  It was magical walking through the snow and watching the farm being snowed on.  It was like the scene at the start of Citizen Kane with the snow globe shaken up and snow landing everywhere.  I loved feeling the light pieces of snow landing on me. Very nice cabin.  I loved how well insulated it was.  I noticed the temperature went down to 11F at 6am.  Inside the cabin was toasty with the portable heater set on low. Kitchen had a mini-fridge/freezer which was able to hold 3 of my ice packs plus a quart of ice cream.  I might have gotten a half gallon of ice cream in but then none of my ice packs would fit.  There was a microwave, plates, and utensils. Lots of farm animals to check out.  We saw chickens in the chicken coop.  Goats in their pen.  A donkey.  Cows.  A few cats.  A very friendly dog owned by the staff. Staff was very nice and informative. I loved staying at the Arrowhead Country Inn & Cabins

Usually they…read moredon't open until spring, however their open date just happen to overlap with my itinerary. Even though we stayed during the last week of March, the temperatures were in the teens at night and the 30's during the day. It lightly snowed which was so beautiful to see, while not really affecting the roads. The cabin had two space heaters, one for the bathroom and one for the remaining area. They have a total of seven cabins, a gift shop (with wonderfully handmade scented goat milk soaps, lotions and more) small restaurant, pool/spa (open only when warm), a farm with goats, cows, mules, chickens (one duck), miniature ponies and one cat. I just don't know where to begin as it's obvious every detail has been well thought out and executed. The gift shop is just full of lovely handmade items. The goat milk is sourced from yes you guessed it, the goats on the farm. The breakfast that is included with your stay each morning is made with eggs from the cute chickens on the farm. Plenty of extra blankets and pillows are provided. The bed has a nice extra pillow top, making it super comfortable. A mini kitchen comes with; a small refrigerator/freezer, coffee maker, dishes, glasses, microwave and plenty of towels/washcloths. The shower (in the garden cabin) is huge and wheelchair accessible for those who need it. Towels, soap and shampoo is provided. There is a small table inside as well as outside by the front door patio. I really appreciated the thoughtful binder (found inside the cabin) containing loads of information about the surrounding area. As it gave me many ideas of how to plan my day. They are located near the east entrance to Zion National Park and close to Best Friends Animal Sanctuary. You can walk around the grounds and say hello to the farm animals. I chatted with the chickens, goats and the friendly cat. The chicken coop is huge with an automatic door (so they can go in/out) that closes at dusk. Keeping them safe from pesky predators. The goat barn is cozy with heaters. They were a bit reluctant to come out, that is until they thought I had food! The birds visit the grass area in front of the cabin, hopping around and pausing now and then to gaze back in my direction. I'd love to see this place in full spring bloom. With all of the trees and plants blooming. This place feels like home. Definitely will plan to visit on my next trip this way.

I would recommend bringing some dvds because I wasn't able to stream anything except YouTube. The Cabin did include free WiFi. But there was a blue ray dvd player in the room. The sunrise, sunset and stars at night were amazing! There is also a separate shower, I just didn't get a picture of it. The room also had a sink in the dining area and a good sized mini fridge, coffee machine and microwave. Our first night there we did the sunset horse ride with Madison. Madison was excellent!! I was really nervous about getting on the horse and she helped me out and was attentive and informative during our ride. She was very personable, knowledgeable and fun! The views on the ride were incredible. If I could've, I would've done it every day we were there! ZMR is located just outside of Zion and it was a very short drive to get to the park and hiking trails. It was nice and peaceful. Not overcrowded even though it seemed like every cabin had a resident.

The mini fridge had broken shelves and no door on the freezer sections...so in the middle of the night our soda cans froze and exploded. The most disappointing part was the general unclean state of the cabin. There was a lot of dust over every surface, cobwebs all over (including the shower ceiling), mystery stain on the comforter for the bed, dirty shower, long dark hair in the sink and on the bed pillow and crumbs on every surface. We talked to staff the first day we arrived and the second day when we checked out. They were kind and listened and said they would look into a discount for us. I received a text from the ranch with a survey and when I rated it a "3", they said they would forward my concerns to management. It's been a week and no one has reached out and no discount was given. Overall, very disappointed with the room and the lack of contact from the Ranch. I wont be back and would not recommend staying there.
