Kim Luna is truly one of a kind. She has cut both of my kids' hair over the years, and she's been working with my youngest since 2021. My youngest is on the spectrum and was nonverbal for a period of time, and haircuts have always been a very difficult and emotional experience for him. From day one, Kim has shown an incredible level of patience, kindness, and genuine care. She never rushed, never forced anything, and always met my child where he was at. That kind of understanding is rare--and it made all the difference for our family. Because of her consistency and compassion, she has built a strong level of trust with my son over time. On his most recent haircut on April 5, 2026, he didn't try to jump off, fight the haircut, or kick--something that used to be a real challenge. That progress meant everything to us, and it's a direct reflection of the safe and supportive environment Kim has created over the years. I've followed Ms. Kim from location to location because it's nearly impossible to find someone with her level of skill and heart. I have gone here couple of times and had good experiences, however the last time it was not a great experience and I will not be back. My son has very curly hair, and I told Ms. Lela that his hair needed to be moisturized and combed out before using scissors to cut it. She does not listens and goes straight for the clippers and of course, they get caught in his hair and it causes him pain. He was inconsolable. I should have stopped the appointment then but he has a gash in his hair from the clippers. So then, she decides to moisturize and use scissors. But at that point he wanted to be done. His haircut was so choppy and so uneven. Parts of his hair you can see a scalp and parts are growing out of control. If you don't know how to do ethnic hair, please say so or listen to the parent I will never be back! I only hope this does not affect them for future haircuts. read more

We had such a great experience at Little Locks! My daughter got her hair dyed and added some fun tinsel, and she absolutely loves it. There were lots of colors to choose from, which made it extra exciting for her to pick exactly what she wanted. The staff was wonderful--fun, friendly, VERY patient. They made the whole experience special and fun. Plus they have the stuff that kids really want when they get their hair cut - TVs in front of the chairs and toys. Ms Lela was amazing for my daughter's first haircut! She's autistic and can be nervous with new people in her personal space and touching her - especially since she'd never had a haircut before, but Lela was super calm and made it easy. She let me daughter stand up and watch TV while she started and only moved to the chair when she was ready. By the end she was happy to sit for her princess braid, too :) Will definitely go back and can recommend them for anyone who wants a patient calm atmosphere! read more

She took a good look at his face, shape of his head, and cowlicks to come up with a good hair cut that fits his features. We believe the stars for this business were bought. They have a sign that says if you leave a review and show us we will give you a discount on your service. Which is against Yelp policy. We didn't have a 5 star experience, we arrived a few minutes before our appointment. There was a client being helped and I assumed they were nearly done. The hair dresser asked if we had an appointment and we said yes, she checked her computer and went back to work. I wish she would have said something like I'm running very late...We waited and waited and 15 mins past our appointment time we left. The hairdresser didn't even look up. read more

0/10!!!! We had such a TERRIBLE experience, we booked a "Royal Birthday Glow" package AND a haircut for my niece. We wanted her to feel pampered but instead she ended up in tears. The appointment was with Miss Lela who claimed my niece had lice and basically said she couldn't continue with the service, (something totally understandable IF it were true...) she had a bad attitude and almost seemed racist. She then decided to change her mind and continue with the service but of course that does not take away the tears and bad experience. As soon as we got home we thoroughly checked her and well well, NO LICE we even took a video to show we were not lying, the only thing there is the glitter that was added during the service. Like why would we even take her to a hair place if she did have lice. The appointment was today 1/31. It's so sad because we were really looking forward to treating her for her birthday. People need to do better. Not a good way to have a business. read more

First time coming to this location. Had been to the one in La Jolla many years ago so to have one locally was very exciting! My daughter needed a trim and we did arrive very early. Sydney was great with getting her set up in a chair and entertained while she finished up with her previous client.
