It woke up all my taste buds and took me back to the buzzling streets of Mumbai flooding me with nostalgia. And I just had to take my husband Ram back to try out their food today. We sampled the Samosa chaat and Bread bombs today. It was so delicious it felt like a party in our mouths. I highly recommend it. There are multiple branches across Auckland but the one I tried closest to me one out west is at the New Lynn Mall next to Denny's. So glad my friend took me to this place. The curry has no subtle flavours, it's just in your face and not particularly pleasant to eat. The portion sizes are not very big and the curry I got had hardly any chicken in it. Not only that, but I don't particularly trust the place after some issue with the grade on the Lincoln Road shop. A few months ago, it had an E Grade and there was some note on the door about the cleanliness of the shop. Now it seems to have a B grade again but the damage was done and I don't trust it. Compared to a good curry house (eg Nite Spice) this is poor Indian food served without love. If you like good curry, you would be well advised to look elsewhere.

Whoever wants the Rogan Josh won't be disappointed as it's made to perfection here. It's customary for me to order Dal Makhani, that's lentils cooked in spices and cream, and the best part since I'm the only one who likes this dish is that there are always left-overs! I tried several places in Auckland, tried my hand at cooking Indian at home only to result in mediocrity. That is until Curry King became our local. It is probably some of the cheapest Indian takeaway in Auckland, but don't let that mislead you to think that it is sub-par. In fact the reasonable prices seem to make the curry a bit more flavorful and the naan just a little bit warmer. I recommend the Madras, Vindaloo, and Keema (lamb mince) naan. If you're really keen you can ask for 'Indian Hot'. Plus you can order online and there's free delivery in a generous area (I think it's about a 5km radius TBC).
