The day that I visited, it was crammed full of well-maintained books. If you're not familiar with little Free Library, it's on the honor system. You take a book or leave a book, it's up to you. I sometimes keep a few books in the car so that I can exchange when I come across these little libraries. Today, I was on my bike so I did not have any. This is a super cute little Free Library. Check out the roof. It's actually designed to look like a book upside down! So all around, a delightful little addition to the little Free Library community. Well done!

This one is called Lila's little free library and is really pretty in turquoise white with green trim. There's even a laminated card attached to the side which explains the whole idea of little Free Library. Really in extremely well constructed large box appears to be completely made out of wood on a very solid wood post. This one is going to last for many years. I put in some brand new business books that I had.

Here's a cute book box right near downtown Walnut Creek! I had no idea there was a tract of homes…read morethis close to downtown. The owner of the book box explained that this is one of the original tract of homes in Walnut Creek. While you are here checking out the book box, check out this wonderful cute neighborhood as well. The book box is sort of a dark rustic red with a black metallic roof. The box is very well-constructed. I believe it is based on one of the plans from the little Free Library organization. What makes this box interesting is that there's two stories! The lower story is for magazines and kids books, and the upper compartment is for regular books. It's really close to Lesher theater in Walnut Creek. Just a few houses down on allmond Avenue. Look for the intersection of Almond court and Almond Avenue. You can't miss it! While I was here visiting the book box, I could hear lots of music coming from downtown. Seems like a really fun place! I had a chance to meet the nice owner of the book box and she explained how the box came to be. A neighbor actually gave her the equipment and helped install it for her. The neighbor even dug the hole and put the cement in for the post! Wow I wish I had neighbors like that! None of my neighbors have ever dug post holes for me! So all in all a very nice Community book box. Pleasant location, Pleasant people. t is also a popular book box, as kids walk by frequently.

This brown little library (#64694) has a small selection of children's. fiction, & nonfiction…read morebooks. reads: : "The boxcar children:Houseboat Mystery" (gertrude chandler warner). the boxcar children (henry, jessie, violet,& benny) have moved into an housboat in a small town. they noted with curiousity how seemngly random facts seem related: -why was a horse looking so thin, malnourished? -why a man was being extorted $$? what secret was he trying to hide? -why was a vase stolen from an auction? is the strange behavior of a boy who bought a box of clothes related? -a missing clock. discovering the stolen vase in their houseboat. is the "break-in of their houseboat related? -is the mysterious black car with 2 men part of the puzzle? -the adults in the story soon find a connection with random facts that stood out. *story may be simplistic, geared for young readers,. in a small town, it wasn't "rocket science".

Since it was raining I decided to drive up. Of course the problem is once you're up there how do you get your car back down. It's very tight to turn around up there so probably best to just walk. It's a narrow tall wood box number of books inside. I contributed some brand new business books to make it even more complete. The box is reasonably well constructed, and looks like it will last quite a few years. I was a little confused by the prior photos for this box, since the Box looks completely different. I wonder if the box was recently refurbished? This is really a fun, older part of Walnut Creek. The roads are quite a bit different than you might expect. This is definitely the most fun I've had getting to a little Free Library.

This little book box is up a small road that looks like a simple stone driveway - we reccomend parking on the street and walking up (it's the road to the right). Wow what a pleasant surprise!…read more On a busy street in Benicia is one of the more cute little free library boxes I've seen. There's even a little faux white picket fence on the side which makes it especially cute. It's very well-maintained, and appears to be mostly wood with perhaps some vinyl. The day that I visited it was well stocked with both soft covers and hard covers. This street is one of the more cute streets in town. Check out the fun lawn ornaments at the house next door.

On a quiet residential street in Orinda California this is a brightly painted red with white sides…read moreand top. It's a pretty standard little Library box with two compartments inside. It was stocked with a combination of fiction and nonfiction, which appear to all be for adults. It's got a nice latch on the outside which works very well and a nice metal knob as well. Well constructed in pretty good shape. There's a nice "stump" to sit on whilst you browse a book or two.
