It's pretty close to the base of Mount Diablo. It's actually like a real library, in that the shelves are well organized by subject. Not only that, members of the community post book reviews and give their suggestions on a whiteboard nearby. I found a Lisa Gardner book for my wife, and a John Grisham book for me. Believe it or not, I always carry a few good books in my car so I can donate them. Today, I deposited 2 business books. I hope another customer likes them If you wish to donate books, you can shelve them yourself, or deposit in a book donation bin in the shelter. There are 2 places to sit. One for adults, one for kids. Parking is tight, so be careful to not block traffic. If you're in the town of Diablo, you've got to come see this. I don't know who put this thing together, but they did a great job

"Boil, Boil, Toil and Trouble."…read more I had the good fortune of seeing "Macbeth" recently, on a warm summer evening. The theater is just a short (and beautiful!) walk up the hill, but they have a free shuttle if you prefer to ride. The resident dramaturge, Philippa Kelly, gives a scholarly lecture before the show. She set the historical context for the play. I appreciated getting the background on Macbeth, and especially the purpose of the 3 witches. The amphitheater is a comfortable venue, and suits either the comedies or the tragedies. (I have seen both here.) For Macbeth, the stage had clear partitions, behind which the characters (and the witches) could traverse. This was also a handy place for the witches to toss "blood" in several scenes. I sort of knew it was coming, but the red gore still had a big impact on me. I thoroughly enjoyed the performance of Macbeth. The actors had clearly studied hard, and the play was professionally executed. I was especially impressed with Lady Macbeth, played by Liz Sklar. Of course, she has a meaty role, sleepwalking in one scene, and trying to get the blood off her hands in another. For cold nights, the staff has blankets for a nominal charge. I was delighted to also see many food options, as well as beer and wine. There are lots of wood tables to sit at and enjoy your meal. The only criticism I have is that for Macbeth the audio was spotty in a few places. For instance, the loud, background effects drowned out the 3 witches in one scene. I thought the ticket was pricey, but of course, buying a season pass is a better value.

This store is located in more of a warehouse type and it merged spaces with another store. They had so many different items to choose from, I bribe from lock sources bd found sources outside of town. My partner bought a Martinez shirt from them and let me tell you, the fabric is so soft. My friend bought a cute hair comb she has been looking for a while. They make all their designed there and are solely owned by the artist. This isn't your boring chachki store, but somewhere you can actually buy quality made goods. They had everything from clothing, candles, Taylor swift items, jewelry and so much more. The place was clean, the family that owns it is super sweet and can answer any questions. The store didn't seem cramped and put together well. I'll definitely be back!

My friend and I spent the afternoon in downtown Martinez and found this cute shop. This is a great…read moreplace to buy gifts for family and friends or for yourself. We talked to the owner Jenny for a little bit and she is the sweetest lady. She makes a lot of items she sells including patches for hats and ornaments for the holiday's. There's a whole section with Martinez merchandise, as well as candles, cards, clothes, hats, and stuff for kids. I enjoyed walking through the store and checking out everything. My friend bought some warm gloves and I got a pair of heart earrings for Valentine's Day. I'll be back to purchase her popular hand crafted Christmas ornament with a cat's backside and a snowflake covering it. This is a fun shop to check out!

Came here for the spring exhibitions opening reception and had a great time. Was a bit surprised…read morethat masking was still required indoors but they provided masks at the front. The exhibits were nicely organized and flowed well. The Richmond Art Center seems well-maintained overall and they did an excellent job with the opening reception, including the yummy food and drinks in the courtyard. I just wish they had more seating during events. While making my way around, I saw artwork from local students as well and the classrooms in the back which was cool. If you're an East Bay local, I highly recommend stopping by the Richmond Art Center at some point or checking out their class offerings.

I am always impressed by the caliber of the work on display, regardless of whether it's the work of professionals or young children who have taken classes at the center or work from area schools in coordination with their art teachers. Workshop participants created a paper plate "succulent" to take home. Although the workshop required pre-registration, it was free. Many parents worked along side their young children,?while teenagers clustered together. The presenter's own sculptures reminded me of Dr Seuss drawings come to life. This is a smaller thrift shop, but it's neat, well organized. They also have a "curated" section,…read morebut I feel like the whole shop is curated. The "curated" section is more so designer brands. You can see that the staff are sorting in the back and many of the items here are high quality. There are some decent brands in the mix. Prices are overall reasonable, and they had some discounts going on. They seem to discount by color tags, and they actually take those items out and put them in a specific section so you're not hunting for those sales like many other thrift shops. There are three fitting rooms in the back that are covered with curtains. You can sign up for their membership with your contact to earn points on purchases and get notified for their sales, as well. Staff were also very friendly. Parking lot was decently sized, but if you come later, it may be a bit more challenging to find parking (some spots are designated for a nearby business and some are 15 minute only spots).
