Here's a cute book box right near downtown Walnut Creek! I had no idea there was a tract of homes…read morethis close to downtown. The owner of the book box explained that this is one of the original tract of homes in Walnut Creek. While you are here checking out the book box, check out this wonderful cute neighborhood as well. The book box is sort of a dark rustic red with a black metallic roof. The box is very well-constructed. I believe it is based on one of the plans from the little Free Library organization. What makes this box interesting is that there's two stories! The lower story is for magazines and kids books, and the upper compartment is for regular books. It's really close to Lesher theater in Walnut Creek. Just a few houses down on allmond Avenue. Look for the intersection of Almond court and Almond Avenue. You can't miss it! While I was here visiting the book box, I could hear lots of music coming from downtown. Seems like a really fun place! I had a chance to meet the nice owner of the book box and she explained how the box came to be. A neighbor actually gave her the equipment and helped install it for her. The neighbor even dug the hole and put the cement in for the post! Wow I wish I had neighbors like that! None of my neighbors have ever dug post holes for me! So all in all a very nice Community book box. Pleasant location, Pleasant people. t is also a popular book box, as kids walk by frequently.

The day that I visited, it was crammed full of well-maintained books. If you're not familiar with little Free Library, it's on the honor system. You take a book or leave a book, it's up to you. I sometimes keep a few books in the car so that I can exchange when I come across these little libraries. Today, I was on my bike so I did not have any. This is a super cute little Free Library. Check out the roof. It's actually designed to look like a book upside down! So all around, a delightful little addition to the little Free Library community. Well done!

After coming down the last little Free Library down the bumpy driveway, I happened to come across…read morethis one. I don't think it's listed on their website. This one is called Lila's little free library and is really pretty in turquoise white with green trim. There's even a laminated card attached to the side which explains the whole idea of little Free Library. Really in extremely well constructed large box appears to be completely made out of wood on a very solid wood post. This one is going to last for many years. I put in some brand new business books that I had.

Well this is a fun little Free Library, but the challenge is getting to it! From Larkey Lane you…read moreactually have to drive up or walk up this rough driveway. Since it was raining I decided to drive up. Of course the problem is once you're up there how do you get your car back down. It's very tight to turn around up there so probably best to just walk. It's a narrow tall wood box number of books inside. I contributed some brand new business books to make it even more complete. The box is reasonably well constructed, and looks like it will last quite a few years. I was a little confused by the prior photos for this box, since the Box looks completely different. I wonder if the box was recently refurbished? This is really a fun, older part of Walnut Creek. The roads are quite a bit different than you might expect. This is definitely the most fun I've had getting to a little Free Library.

This little book box is up a small road that looks like a simple stone driveway - we reccomend parking on the street and walking up (it's the road to the right). There's plenty of spaces to park right around this book box, which is at the bottom of a house driveway. The day that I checked out the box, it was filled with mostly kids books, perhaps even coloring books. I plan to add a large book, but it was so crammed with other books I could not even add mine! Well constructed. Looks like it will last for many years.

Wow--Walnut Creek seems to have a lot of extremely well-constructed little free library book boxes…read more This one is at the corner of a somewhat busy intersection in a roll part of Walnut Creek. It is very sturdy and on a solid wood post. There's actually a little bench right next to the box. I assume this is for patrons to sit down and read. Remember this is sort of a busy intersection so just be careful if you cross the street. This box might be about the sturdiest I have seen in awhile. It was filled with all kinds of hard cover as well as as well as soft cover books. I put one in to add to the collection. Whilst I was there I found a James Patterson novel. Yay!
