In the past I freely admit I have not been the biggest fan of Little Chef for a variety reasons including poor service and as such have avoided dining there. This branch however, was a vast improvement! Needing to take a break to stretch the legs and get a bite to eat, we stopped here, which along with a Travelodge and a petrol station make up a local services on the relentlessly busy A64. A well set out car park, with no litter was a good start. Inside was a bit of a revelation, exceptionally clean, with a '50s diner type design, and friendly, helpful staff. There shirts adorned with their role - manager, waiter etc., an interesting touch.
A menu that was neither too short or long catered for its target audience - people on their travels included dishes like all-day breakfasts, to lasagne, scampi etc., as well a few more unusual dishes. A good range of desserts too. Prices were competitive and although we only had some toast as a snack and a coffee, the whole experience was infinitely better than in the past. This branch also sold items like Little Chef (Charlie) mugs and T-shirts, travel pillows etc. We will definitely consider stopping at a Little Chef again on our travels, the Heston Blumenthal designed menu is a definite improvement! read more
