Jitter Bean Oasis has fantastic coffee (they use Mahalia from Robe), and delicious sweets. My partner had the citrus tart, and said it was the best she had ever had (big call!), and I had a vanilla slice which was amazing. On the Sunday afternoon I visited, the store was full of customers but the line moved steadily and staff made sure that everyone was served quickly and efficiently. I was promised by my travelling friends to eat "the best sausage rolls ever" and was a bit disappointed (better than a Villis but not as good as my local bakery) as there didn't seem to be enough meat compared to the thickness of the pastry. The pastry was also a bit ho-hum but the sausage roll was piping hot compared to the lukewarm-ness (is that a word? If not it should be!) that has become common in many a deli. As I was feeling a touch greedy I also had a chocolate doughnut with my sausage roll and iced coffee (FUIC of course), and found it to be delicious and the icing spot on. This little bakery is an icon of sorts and worth a stop if you don't want to eat at the roadhouses but its not quite as cracked up as everyone says. Also, they make you pay 20c for tomato sauce, which never ceases to amaze me. Granted they do it properly and squirt the sauce straight into the pie/sausage roll/pasty, but I hate paying extra for sauce.

A jewel on the Yorke Peninsula…read more We were taking a day trip and looking for a pie shop. Most of the pie shops have closed and rest of the pubs' kitchens were closed between meal hours. Marie's was the only place open in Yorketown and even though we arrived past business hours we were welcomed like we were entering someone's home. Even though most of the pies were were sold they had several left and they were nothing short of spectacular. The three of us shared a Singapore beef pie, butter chicken pie, sausage roll, and my new favorite a cheese Kransky (a kielbasa sausage with cheese and kraut within a puff pastry). They came to our table served with a homemade green salad and possibly the most spectacular potato salad I have ever experienced. They also had homemade jams and Rocky Road with several unique flavors, all with macadamia nuts. This now serves a new problem...the length of drive to eat here again.

The service there was amazing the staff was so kind and made me fee so welcome. The food was just good old bakery food, these days sometimes at bakery's you look at your sausage roll and the sauce is splattered everywhere, but here the sauce was perfect the sausage roll wasn't to hot or to cold it was amazing. The cakes and doughnuts were so creamy and delicious, I would defiantly recommend this.
