a bottle of truffe and a jar of sauce

It's one of the best hidden gems in Lititz! You diffently do not want to miss this little shop of glory. It's in the main town, Lititz, so parking can be a little hard, but there is plenty around. A few months back, sometime last year, they hosted a little kangaroo dinner party cooked by a Brazilian chef they had brought in. The cost from what I can remember was $75, which got as pictured some of their cheeses, a salad, the main course, and dessert. I am unsure if they still hold dinners like this. However, if they do, I highly recommend going it was worth the money! They have a large selection of cheeses as well as a few standing freezers of a ton of different game to pick from. My brother got all the meat pictured and also tried the truff and sauce. The owners are also super friendly and know a lot about their product.

Such a great shop! My fiance & I visit frequently, we love the fact they rotate a lot of their cheeses. There's always something new to buy or sample! Any of the cheeses are readily available to sample upon request. The staff is always kind & knowledgeable about their products! In addition, a nice selection of frozen game meat is also available, I would highly recommend the boar sausages if you see them. Chips, hot sauce, seasoning, honey, and more can also be found at the shop for those looking to add a little extra to their charcuterie. Overall, great selection of items. I recommend this shop all the time to those visiting Lititz! It certainly never disappoints!

What a find when visiting Lititz. Amazing selection of prime beef, such as marbled Kobe Beef and Piedmontese Italian Beef. If you want some imported Risotto or pasta to go with them, they have them. They have all sorts of game here. This is by far the largest collection of game meat I have ever seen in one location. They have Antelope, Alligator,Bison,Elk and about 30 more too numerous to list here. Are you craving some Rattlesnake? Come on in. I tried and purchased some Kangaroo jerky, it was very tasty. The store also has a large selection of gourmet cheeses and accompaniments which the owner was happy to let us taste. This is a fantastic gourmet food store, staffed by a knowledgeable, helpful and friendly staff. This is the place to come if you are seeking quality hard to find gourmet items. I will be back.

I love the store! I literally drive 1 hour and 15 minutes just to go to the shop. They have the best selection of cheeses, and the staff is so informed about the cheese, the cheese making process, and all the specifics you could want to know. They were always happy to let you taste the cheese and to make recommendations. They also have an incredible selection of exotic meats including boar, Buffalo, kangaroo, duck, elk, llama, and more. And I love to try the different sauces, jams, and treats they have in the store. It is a must stop for any cheese lovers, or anyone who appreciates gourmet food. Today I came home with Point Reyes Blue cheese, Black Hill botanical jam, rhubarb with dandelion and honey, and raspberry with Bergamont. Also one of our favorite sauces, Robert Roth Childs pineapple coconut mango tequila sauce. Amazing on chicken and fish.

My sister in law knew that while we were visiting Lititz I was on a hunt for a good goose liver pate' after visiting Zest and finding two outstanding canned pate's from France, I still wanted some fresh creamy pate' that I could have sliced off into a nice sized portion. Spotting The Savory Gourmet, she seized my arm and said oh let's check them out! Oh how fun this shop is, we were greeted by the owner of the shop who offered us free red or white sangria, which he made himself and both were delicious, especially with the free cheese and cracker samples. The Savory Gourmet is a one of a kind, exotic gourmet food store and they only sell the very best that money can buy from around the world. If I was adventurous I would have a field day trying them all, all natural and farm raised, be it steaks, burgers, jerky, sausages, testicles or hot dogs, we are talking antelope, bison, black bear, alligator, rattlesnake, buffalo, kangaroo, elk, pheasant, Mallard duck, lamb, rabbit, wild boar, real Kobe beef, Piedmontese Italian Beef, ostrich, llama, yak, venison, quail, reindeer, python, silver salmon, caribou and more! The gourmet cheeses are just as tantalizing and mind boggling with the best of the best from across Europe and the United States. Here is where I was more than adventurous while sipping my sangria's and listening to our very knowledgeable owner answer all of our questions and offering us free samples. Boursalt Brie from the isle of France, the best Dutch gouda's, Bouche & Smethe from our own Lancaster county, the very best buttermilk bleu cheese which would be perfect on a burger, steak, salad or with pears, Irish porter cheddar, although the barely buzzed cheddar from Utah was my ultimate favorite, which is rubbed with Turkish coffee beans and lavender and has a buttery, almost butterscotch ending, this cheese has won countless first place awards, year after year. I don't remember if they sold ants, but they had plenty of crickets and grasshoppers for sale. The very best olive oils, honeys, vinegars, olives, jams, syrups, mustards, pasta and sauces. They carry gourmet ready made glazes, marinades and sauces to go along with your exotic meats and cheese, like roasted raspberry chipolte, blackberry wasabi, peaches and peppers and a mango-ginger habenero. Gourmet sweets that you may run into once or twice in your lifetime, Pennsylvania maple syrups, limonades and Pa. Dutch made potpie noodles. I did not get my pate', as the owner explained that it only sells well around the Christmas holiday, come on Lititz folks get with it, although he assured me that with ample notice he could have it for me on my next visit and I will hold him to this. They have special events periodically and the Oktoberfest sounds interesting with sausages, cheese, beer and wine, I may need to go here to celebrate. Remember the name, they are slated to be on various television channels in the near future, including the Travel Channels Bizarre Foods. I bought plenty of cheese to take home along with quite a few other interesting items, however I left the insects and exotic meats to try when I grow up.

While in town, we wandered in wishing we had already grabbed some baked goods earlier in the day. And with a mission to acquire some meat for the grill later in the day. Immediately we were met with a variety of whoopie pies (we got a traditional one and cookie one, both delicious), and most of all the BEST cinnamon roll we have ever feasted on. Not only was it tremendous but it was perfectly gooey, and the buttercream (or at least that's how it tasted) frosting in lieu of traditional icing blew it out of the water. We also grabbed some chicken bacon burgers which we grilled up and really enjoyed. Just wished the patties were initially bigger. We ended up putting 2 and 2 (out of the 4) together to make burgers which would actually survive the grill. In general the selection is everything you'd imagine in Amish country combined into one little place. Prices were excellent, quality was great. Definitely stop in!

Perusing Yelp, I saw Stoltzfus (a local last name that was mentioned by our buggy guide) and it was a deli/restaurant- you had me at meat! You order at a walk up counter, get a buzzer, wait as they make it fresh, get buzzed, and pick your order up. Plenty of clean seating is available. The Philly cheesesteak was awesome! Lots of meat, tender but substantial roll, and hot! I got it sauced - this was new for me. I was thinking cheese sauce, but it was a red sauce. I loved it regardless ( my daughter wasn't as happy - not because it tasted bad, but she wasn't expecting it). We didn't have to wait to order, but once we were eating-the line was easily 25-30 deep. The eating section is called Amos' Place. The meat section is Stoltzfus Meats. A wonderland of fresh, frozen, and refrigerated meats and all the accompanying side dishes! There is also a very good selection of baked goods, spices, and munchies. Oh, the white root beer was good! I will definitely be back!

When you go to a "fancy"steakhouse, and drop $100+ on steak, Bowmans is the level of quality they use, so grill it yourself and save $60-70 and buy a nice bottle of bourbon or wine to go with it. The cuts are thicker, 1 1/2 - 2inches so be mindful if you're grilling them for the first time, they may end up being rarer then your usual. Other things to check out: they carry local eggs, exotic meats (alligator, elk, etc), and they have their own beer/venison seasoning thats actually pretty good. Better than Montreal. Other notes: They have amazing service here, they'll let you look at the cuts and bring you other ones from the back room if you don't like what they have on display. Not a fan on their sausages, the texture is good but the taste is a bit bland. I'm open to suggestions on how to improve cooking them. Some people think it smells weird in here.
