He and his staff spent a significant amount of time obtaining a thorough history (essential for complex metabolic conditions), performed a true physical exam, and offered numerous treatment options. Dr. Litchfield uses a whiteboard in the exam room to discuss your assessment and treatment plan options. His staff was great about sending off medications to the pharmacy, setting up additional testing, and scheduling follow up appointments. He is truly a great endocrinologist specialist! Although he is busy, you don't get the rushed feel that you may encounter in other offices! I would even pay cash to see him out of network! read more

Avoid making any appointments here. Very lengthy wait times, appointments are always super far out, and the doctor doesn't listen to what you have to say. PA Violet was even worse... Telling me that "you just need more sleep" even without having my panel results back. Every appointment had to schedule new appointments and come back because they could never "get my results" from tests done... Just so they could charge insurance and another copay for an office visit. Even though my other doctor offices accessed it. Find a different provider. Much better ones out there. read more

I have been seeing providers at Desert Endocrinology for a little over a year. The attention from Aubrey Boone has been helpful and focused on addressing my situation. The rest of the staff is, I am sorry to say, lackluster. They frequently lack critical knowledge such as whether an insurer's mail order pharmacy (in my case, Carelon) can actually fulfill a prescription. One would think that a doctor's office that issues prescriptions knows whether a particular insurer, PBM or mail order fulfillment pharmacy can actually process a prescription. Apparently, the prescription group at Desert Endocrinology in Henderson, NV does not keep track of this kind of critical information. As a result, the patient -- who is the most impacted by errors by the professionals and least informed about the relationships among the medical practice, the insurer and the pharmacy -- is left to sort through this maze. This is much different from the standard of care I received in California at one of the most well known (not Kaiser) large practices there. been going here for a couple years and last year i got there and paid my co-pay just for them to bring me back and non even have my lab results. I go this year and 4 days before my appointment they tell me i need a new referral. Thanks for the heads up . For two weeks do i call to make sure they have my referral and labs, they don't and are no help getting this organized for me. I call 2 days before my appointment to confirm they have everything and were good to go, they said yes. I wake up at 5am for the new appointment for them to tell me they have no labs when i get there and the referral was supposed to be sent thru the insurance portal too. When were you gonna tell me that??? They didn't help me figure this out at all, had me sit in the lobby with no reception playing receptionist for them. Then had the nerve to ask me with attitude "are you going to allow us to see you today?". With what information would you see me???? I am no longer going to them and recommend you never do. Mind you, there were 3 other people in the lobby going through the same thing just with other problems. read more

I've read some of the one star reviews and I must say they confuse me. I hope they won't scare off anybody who needs a truly great Endocrinologist. I can only speak for myself as a long term patient ( 10+ yrs ) that wouldn't be alive if it weren't for Dr. Litchfield. Doctors have rules and parameters they have to work within IF they want to continue to be in their chosen profession. If a patient can't get what they want it isn't a matter of being punitive, it's likely the law. As for professionalism and bedside manner, you would have to go a long way to find a Doctor more personable and kind. That you're looking for an Endocrinologist means you need specialized help, more than what a GP can provide. Dr. Litchfield is Harvard trained, lectures to his peers and takes patients when other Endocrinologists turn them away - ( my experience. ) I'm grateful to be a patient and I'm looking forward with his help to a healthy future. It's a busy practice, if you have to wait for an appointment, it's worth it. read more

Dr. Litchfield has become complacent in the manner by which his practice operates. The phones are either, not staffed, or not a priority for this practice. They don't provide any way to leave messages or to contact the doctor. The staff takes "gate keeping" to the next level and completely blocks access to the doctor at times. Many staff members are rude, and appear to lack empathy. Dr. Litchfield has been made aware of these issues but instead turned his back on a patient of 20 years in order to support a staff member that is toxic and will inevitably drive away more patients. They accuse you of missing appointments but don't acknowledge that they need to answer the phone in order for patients to cancel or change appointments. They then berate you for the supposed "no show" appointments when they are the ones at fault for their awful communication system. Dr. Litchfield has apparently turned a blind eye to this and is more concerned about someone saying "the F word" than the integrity of his practice. Instead of calling me to apologize for atrocious treatment by his staff; he was mostly concerned that after being gaslighted, accused of missing appointments and having my serious diagnosis completely disregarded, that as I hung up I said the "f" word. The staff member had gotten what he wanted; I was in tears and he had pushed me to my limit. This was directly after I was diagnosed with Stiff Person Syndrome. I had just wanted to speak to Dr. Litchfield but was instead berated by his awful staff. I was told my lab results meant I may "just develop type 1 diabetes at some point." They ignored me when I said I had already been diagnosed with SPS. The staff member lacked knowledge and shouldn't have been discussing any of it with me to begin with. I wanted 2 mins of doctor's time to ask a question about this devastating diagnosis but instead got this rude, confrontational, man asking me about missed appointments, speaking over me and being condescending. It was insane! This is how they treat patients who, are not only very ill, but who have been their patient for over two decades. Dr. Litchfield is worried about the dreadful "f word" but doesn't question why his patient, who's always nice, was ever brought to that point. It's a bit self righteous in my opinion. A staff member gaslights you into tears while you're at your lowest point & Dr. Litchfield is most concerned that I had the audacity to react & defend myself. No regard for how I was treated. This tells me everything I need to know about Dr. Litchfield. I can only hope that this staff member continues to act this way and Dr. Litchfield experiences it for himself. It's suspicious that the employee did this while Dr. Litchfield was out of the office; he would have NEVER spoken to me that way in front of the doctor. Dr. Litchfield needs to really look at how he's allowing patients to be treated. If he's complacent; that's just as bad as doing it himself. Sad that many are stuck with this type of care. read more

The fact that I have to write this is insane. Called this morning to reschedule my new patient appointment because I am sick. Now mind you I was convinced I would be better and be able to go today and knowing I wasn't able to get in till January I was making every effort to go. Out of respect I called to reschedule and was told I could not get another appointment because of the cancellation policy. I offered to come in sick to a specialist office with a mask (what?! Why would that be encouraged) and she said well..long pause you can't now because you said you are sick...I will have to have the manager call you maybe later today or tomorrow. As a healthcare professional I look at medical practices with a critical eye. Dr. Litchfield has built a supreme practice. His staff are friendly and efficient (Nicki & Ty). It is a very busy practice but it runs smoothly. The call I received before my 1st appointment to tell me my insurance had been verified and what my co-payment amount could range was a nice touch. Ty the medical assistant was efficient and informative. The APN Aubrey was amazing. One of the reasons I like APNs is they see you as a whole person. I felt like she looked at my big picture of health. She was knowledgeable and ready to work on solving some of my health issues. She took time to hear what I had to say, ask questions and answer my questions. Great visit. Nicki is doing a great job and each time I interacted with her it was great. I did notice the phone rings a very low tone which was a delight as a patient not to notice the phone ringing as I'm sure it does a lot. Absolutely ridiculous. Incredible wait times. Impossible to get through to anyone without long hold or getting the answering service. I have an autoimmune condition but they can't tell me what it is? It's their speciality? Sent me to a alarming number of referrals with other physicians which should be doctor speak for " I don't know what to do with you, how to diagnose or treat your symptoms ." I went in January, saw the doctor once. Pawned off on a nurse practitioner. Since then no answers. Nothing except keep getting tests. No pain relief, no hormone help. Worthless. Someone should tell these doctors that they aren't doing anything for the health of their patients... I canceled my final follow up which wasn't until the end of March. Seriously? Finding a COMPETENT Endo to manage Addison's disease is not an easy task. Before moving to Las Vegas in May 2021, I obtained Dr. Litchfield's name from an Addison's Disease/Adrenal Insufficiency support group on Facebook. I cannot say enough AMAZING things about Dr. Reid Litchfield and his Desert Endocrinology staff on Horizon Hills Parkway! From my very first visit that summer, I immediately liked Dr. Litchfield. He genuinely cares. He doesn't make you feel like he's just trying to get out of the room to his next appointment. Instead, he listened to ALL of my concerns, supported me, and made me feel like I was part of my treatment plan (so, so important!). Not to mention his approach to how I manage my Addison's disease and Diabetes. Let's FF to last week. I had a preset appointment that I scheduled last November for my Addison's and Diabetes management on Thursday, June 2. However, I came out as transgender ‍ on 5/18. So I made an appointment with a different doctor that I found through a transgender support group to assist with Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT). I patiently waited for my discharge paperwork, and I looked over at the wall, and I saw the ever-present "Endocrine System" illustration that every Endocrinologist has hanging in every exam room. That is when it clicked: "OH MY GOD! DR. LITCHFIELD CAN DO THIS!" I immediately popped my head out of the door and asked his MA if I could talk to him again. Within a couple of minutes, Dr. Litchfield's smiling face was back in my exam room, explaining HRT, side effects, dosing, etc. I also have to give shout-outs to his office manager, TIFFANY, but special go to the fantastic NIKKI! Here's what happened: Remember, my initial visit was for a follow-up for my Addison's and Diabetes; I had already made an appointment with another doctor for HRT. While checking in for my appointment, I let the staff know that I had recently come out as transgender ‍ and that I wanted to update my pronouns to he/him. That caused some confusion, and being so new to this, I walked off feeling defeated and said, "You don't understand." NIKKI saw what had happened and alerted TIFFANY, who quickly stepped into action. She told me that they DO understand, and by the time Dr. Litchfield walked into my exam room that day, his staff had RETROACTIVELY updated ALL of my files to reflect HE/HIM. It was absolutely AMAZING! Thank you, DR. LITCHFIELD, NIKKI, TIFFANY, and the rest of your staff for treating the trans ‍ community with DIGNITY and RESPECT. ‍ EDIT: OMG! I almost forgot the MOST AMAZING part! The pharmacy where Dr. Litchfield sent my Testosterone (T) on Thursday did not have any and wouldn't until 6/7. I was so sad that I would have to wait until Tuesday and was at the pharmacy when my phone rang. To my surprise, it was none other than Dr. Litchfield! He personally called me to make sure that I had been able to get the T. When I told him that I wasn't, he asked me if I'd like it sent somewhere else, and by 3:50 PM that same day, I had it in my hands. Thank you 1M x over, Dr. Litchfield!! read more

Do not hesitate, this is the best Endocrinology practice in the valley. The entire staff are completely amazing. I get in to see my favorite, Violet( PA) on or before my scheduled time. The visits are refreshing as I do not feel rushed or like a number in a huge clinic. My health has improved so drastically since I bit the bullet and made my first appoint,ent 6 years ago. These people go far and above the regular experience. For example, my insurance was refusing me the medication prescribed. Violet went to bat for me with the insurance company. I have NEVER experienced this level of care before. I was able to receive the prescription! This is truly amazing as most doctors have had the " it's your problem" outlook when an insurance issue arises. If you are in need of an endocrinologist, do not hesitate. You will not be sorry. I feel very blessed to have this team helping me manage my diabetes and my auto immune disease. Make an appointment and experience what medicine is supposed to be. I'd happily give them 100+ stars if I could. And might I add, I have extreme anxiety when dealing with doctors from a very bad experience. I was diagnosed with thyroid cancer (stage 1 thank God) and in November 2019 had surgery by Dr Robert Wang. He only removed the tumor and left my entire thyroid intact (thank God again.) However, because of another surgery I had the same year (cervical fusion) I was left with scar tissue in my neck that tries to show up as a problem on an ultrasound. So I am under the care of Dr Litchfield to monitor this problem. I felt an immediate connection with Dr Litchfield and that leaves me relieved. I usually see his PA Violet and let me tell you, she is a doll. So knowledgeable. Even during Covid everything in this office is run smoothly. I highly recommend this doctor and his practice if you are in need of an endocrinologist. read more

I saw Dr. Litchfield for a medical condition that I have, he is supposed to be a specialist. He gave me good answers and when I requested a referral from him to get more consultation at UCLA medical he assured me that he could grant me my request. Weeks pass and i hear no response from anyone. I go into the office and get turned away "don't call us we'll call you". I finally write a letter and still nothing. Makes you wonder when they have my file in their office and they know I have not been treated for my condition. Don't they wonder what happened to me? I'm a younger patient with sudden onset symptoms. I saw 7 specialists and Dr. Litchfield has by far been the best. He put me on new meds, and personally calls me every couple of days to see how I'm doing. If it's not him then the nurse always checks in on me. I'm a more serious patient, however he is the guy to go to if that is the case. My parents did pay cash for a visit because we were told by many that he is very smart. He genuinely cares about my health and I haven't seen much of that among the Las Vegas doctors. He is very informative to my parents and answers any questions I may have. Took me 3 months to get an appointment. After seeing the doctor, my prescriptions were all done incorrectly. It took me another 3 weeks to get the prior authorizations and corrected scripts. After giving me one 90 day supply, his office refused to provide refills. This is a lifelong condition and I need life saving medicine! I have NEVER had a doctor refuse to refill insulin. I was referred to Dr Litchfield by my doctor. First appointment was with Dr Litchfield and I thought he was very thorough. He was convinced I had cushings syndrome. He obviously wanted me to get blood work to determine what was going on. Another lady came in and gave me all my paper work and what I needed to do my saliva test. They sent me home with paperwork to go to LabCorp. I didn't think anything of it (it was my first month being solely on my husbands insurance where as before my insurance was my primary so I thought maybe his insurance went there) since the office knows your insurance or if they don't ask you which lab do you go to. So get all my tests done, saliva test is done over the course of 3 days. Go into LabCorp and they tell me my insurance isn't taken there so I need to go to Quest. Okay cool, noooo problem. Head over there, give the technician my saliva sticks and get my blood drawn. Fast forward to my follow up appointment- I was seen by Violet, who I believe is the Physicians Assistant or one of them. She comes in, doesn't even say hi and says "soooooooo, you didn't do your saliva test? Why?" I was totally caught off guard by her rudeness but then because she said I didn't do the test! Come to find out, Quest and LabCorp use different size saliva test sticks so Quest couldn't run it. Which she found out after reading the report a little more. She proceeds to tell me "well, everything else is normal so you're fine." I got a little emotional because I know how I have been feeling isn't how my old "normal" self used to feel. She then goes on to say "I don't know why you are upset. People come in here all the time and then cry and get mad when their test results are normal. You guys are healthy. You should be happy." She also went on to say, "Since not all of the testing was completed, you'll have Togo back and redo it all. And make sure you do the saliva test. ((())) Since you have already came in for one appt, we will just call you with the results." Fast forward again when my test results were in. I had downloaded the Quest App so I was notified that my results were in. So I called the office to see if they had received them. Someone was to call me back. A front desk lady or medical assistant that didn't know anything about the labs calls me back and says "all yours tests are fine." No explanation on anything and didn't know when I asked. No quantifying numbers if maybe some were in the normal range but were on the higher or lower end. I then ask if I am able to come back and see Dr Litchfield so I could ask him if he thought my symptoms and what was going on could be related to another condition and if he recommended another type is specialist. The lady says "uhhhh, hold on, let me ask." Comes back on the phone and says again, "Nope! Violet says you're good." I was very irritated with this. As a patient, I have every right to ask a dr that I am seeing more questions about test results. I'm not totally taking it out on Lichfield, in fact, he's the reason why this review got 2 stars instead of 1 or 0. The staff of medical assistants (maybe not all, but the ones I dealt with) seemed inconvenienced when you questioned any of their statements and Violet is the real reason for my huge distaste with this practice. This is not how medicine should be practice and how you should treat your patients. Talking down and being condescending for no reason is completely uncalled for. I have since gone on to find another doctor that was able to figure out what was going on with me and I am feeling so much better! Thank goodness! read more

I am in desperate need of Metformin (not Oxycodone for God's sake) and she informed me it's been over a year since my last appt. True, I was laid off, had no insurance and trust assure that the split second I did, I was on the phone trying to get an appt. with a doctor I consider a gift from God. She told me I'd have to go to an URGENT CARE to get this Metformin and then was so belittling to me and RUDE! Due to her actions and the unorganization of the staff costing me 2 hours of pay by missing work due to telling me to go to the Lab, I will not be back. Unbelievable. 2017. Worst staff ever. Denise should be fired. Condescending and talked over me. Nurses look very unhappy. I had enough after five years. Saw the doc every fourth or fifth visit. That's what, once every 18 months? Saw a PA the rest of the time. Likeable guy but in the end, I didn't feel cared for. I can't express how rude his staff is. They kept messing up my prescriptions, not available from Friday and over the weekend. Staff very rude. No greeting, just sign in. if you have a problem forget about it. And, they overcharge. So mine and a host of other negative reviews were erased. Dr. Litchfield never looked at the 2 year history my primary sent him. I've had an increasingly unstable thyroid for years. I'm diagnosed as having underactive thyroid, but for many years it's been overactive. My primary literally tried every dosage and I got worse. He sent me to Desert Endo for answers. All I got was new prescriptions every 2 months. They told me I'd just been over medicated. That wasn't true of my primary, but of the other dr in that practice whom I saw right before Litchfield. I only saw the dr twice, but was relegated to the incompetent nurse and PA who patronized me with suggest I was anxious or menopausal. My thyroid has been unstable for 15 months and my eyes are swollen from hyperthyroidism my opthalmologist says. Yet this office told me I couldn't possibly have that. It's well known that this condition exists, studies have been done in the last ten years, but these people are unaware! I've suffered and now have eye damage from them. You are just a set if numbers, no one in this office sees human beings, they just don't care. read more
