I took a Lyft ride here & arrived at 3.45pm. I didn't know what to expect, but I was second in line. Instructions were to be here by 4:15 for The VIP experience which include check in merch, the VIP lanyard, rehearsal & Q&A. There were different VIP plans & some Langers were rectangle & some were hearts. Since I was front row, I was diamond. I was so close that I was actually in the shell. There were two different companies Elite (red shirt) & the Black shirt people. Rady shell had their own staff too in white shirts. So we were organized in groups based on our VIP package. My group got to enter first & we all sat in front row for the Q&A & listen to Ella Mai sing three songs with Juan acoustically. Juan is a great guitar player, At the end I got a guitar pic. Then we took a group picture. So front row became the back row. Now I'm a shorty so I had to stand on a chair to be seen. The coolest part was making new concert friends acquaintances in line & during the Q&A. After that, we all head for the Merch line to have first pick. Let me tell you VIP is the way to go. What I did learn was that the entire venue is a park. So on the exterior of the venue along the water are benches. If you're early enough, you can pick your bench, camp out & watch, listen to the concert , get this FOR FREE. I know, and people were there with their blankets, cushions, drinks, pillows, etc. it's a beautiful venue. It clean. What I will say is that the restrooms are not plentiful. No A/C and it's very hot. There are Porta Potties but that's even hotter. There are unisex restrooms, but those are prison toilets. All stainless steel & messy, stinky, dirty. But if you gotta go, well then you gotta go. The shell located right behind the convention center. Tip, walk in front of the convention center or to the Hilton & save $15 on your Uber. Walk to the signal lights & hop on public trains, rails for $2.50. I met more cool people on the way out that we ended up at party central 10 minutes away. Some chick & her Mom tried to hustle me for a free Uber ride asking me if I would book a trip for them, blah, blah, blah 'my account,I'm having issues', but I shut that down with, Gurl I use public transportation for $2.50 I don't use Uber. Guess their game wasn't that great because they were fighting & arguing a few minutes later. C-ya I'm outta here. I would definitely come back here again. See you some more on Yelp 2026

The sound in this place is mesmerizing. Not a bad seat in the entire place. Seats are soft and cushiony - I have sciatica so that matters. Parking is easy enough if you get there 30-45 minutes early. The half star ding is due to the bathrooms not being handicapped accessible enough. There is a handicap stall in the restroom, but because the restroom is so small, it makes difficult for anyone in a wheelchair to enter. They should've built a separate handicap restroom just for the wheelchair accessible, especially since they cater to an older demographic - there were at least six nursing home buses double parked out front after the show. lol Otherwise, I highly recommend seeing shows there

I can't believe this theater is hiding in a nondescript building in the middle of SD. It has such ornate architecture and feels so intimate compared to other larger theatres. It looks like it was recently remodeled, as the exterior lobby area looks very modern. There are a couple entrances, the upper level entrance is on Seventh Ave., and the lower level entrance is on B Street. There are bars to purchase drinks on both levels, although lines were SUPER long. The B Street Entrance allows you to enter Knead bakery where you can buy coffee drinks, as well as pastries. While drinks are allowed in the theatre, food is not, so finish eating before you go in. The ushers are very helpful and one usher spent most of her time helping people take pictures in front of one of the signs. Although one lady on the lower level needs more training on seat locations. I purchased seats for our family, with my son in a handicap seat and his brother in the companion seat, and the rest of us in a different section. We showed her our seat numbers, and she put my 2 sons in an area in the lower level and sent the rest of us upstairs. I then got a call from my son saying that the usher said they were in the wrong seats and needed to move and go upstairs, so I had to run back downstairs and bring them upstairs. Luckily one of the supervising ushers saw us and helped us find our seats and graciously allowed our whole family to sit together in the handicap seating area. SD is so lucky to have such a special venue! If you have an opportunity to attend a show here, go!

If the price is $110 each, but you can drive to the OC fair and get $25 tickets and get into the fair, what would you do? They're infamous for having the which folding chairs ziptied together, which makes it not the most comfortable venue. And they now do standing only shows for younger audience acts, with no seating. They still have ADA seating for that if you need it. Parking is the other issue, since it's Shelter Island. Get here early for street or marina lot parking, just don't pay the high event price for the Humphreys lot.

Bartender knows the way to mix, with some good versions of favorites. METE is a new turn on something San Diego used to have lots of - Supper Clubs. It's picking up fast (we tried to come a week prior, but the line was long - we made reservations to get our foot in), and probably gonna be one of those places you wish you went early on. We're glad we did. It's legit new design inside - none of the tired 'industrial' look that's overused in San Diego, none of the chrome and wood look that someplaces try. It's got it's own high energy vibe to it that's finally bringing something San Diego's needed for a long time.

The vocals were maybe a hair low, but that's based on a three-man band so I dunno how they'd check a bigger act. Volume not high enough to merit earplugs when standing just in front of the sound booth, but might have been close to necessary by the stage. System sounds pretty clear and well balanced overall. 2. Temperature: Eugh... Warm, oppressively so. Dunno if the AC was broken or just off, but it got toasty considering it was a show where most of the crowd were pretty static and there was solely a headline and no support sets. Outside temperature wasn't oppressive either, seemed worse than similar sized venues. 3. Plenty of parking for (what still seems to me an excessive amount of) $20 outside. Traffic getting out was chaos, with people cutting queues and nobody organizing egress until the actual gate.

I was disappointed on several levels: First and foremost, the quality of the comedians was mediocre at best! The crowd rarely laughed and when they did laugh, it was weak and unenthusiastic. I recently attended Jim Gaffigan's performance and laughed my ass off (and I don't laugh easily). Secondly, I got to the Fair a few hours early to see some exhibits and get dinner. When I presented my ticket at the main gate, I was told I needed a different ticket to enter the Fair. The gate agent referred me to her supervisor who said this problem has been happening all day to other guests. The supervisor directed out of line and to the Box Office. The Box Office agent said she could not help me even though I showed her my official eTicket to the Comedy event. She directed me to the far end of the fairgrounds to get my ticket to the Fair from The Sound box office.

I also enjoyed the entourage aspect of it with our Club Train leaders Alex and Vince, dressed in dapper bow ties and suits, shepherding us around the Gaslamp district of downtown San Diego. I tried out Club Train last weekend (bought my ticket through Pacific SD Magazine for extra savings). The itinerary included a set schedule for visits to Don Chido, F6ix, Side Bar and FLUXX with an hour at each location and 90 minutes at the last one. The evening was slow to start, as my friend and I found ourselves bored at our first stop, the new bar/restaurant Don Chido, where the group was to meet and depart to the clubs. If we could do it again, we would've shown up later for that first stop because it was not necessary to be there the whole first hour. We were told by our Club Train organizers that there were food and drinks specials at Don Chido. When we got there, we were seated at a table, then ignored by waitstaff for a long time before we finally asked someone who then told us we had to get drinks at the bar in order to get our Club Train deal. Also, we were told by the Don Chido staff there were no food specials. By showing our Club Train wristbands, we ended up with $5 margaritas (half price!) from the bar so it wasn't a complete loss but we felt like we wasted a lot of time in Don Chido and that the night was off to a rough start. Once our group leader summoned all of us (around 30 people), things went smoother as we then proceeded to each club. The evening then flew by as we had about an hour in each venue. Our Club Train leaders escorted us as a group from club to club but it was fine when we twiced missed our group leaving. We were still able to follow on our own with our wristbands. It was nice to be taken care of but not completely babysat, as once you are inside the club you're on your own. I didn't get a chance to talk to other members of our group, but theoretically you could probably make new friends in Club Train. A Club Train ticket normally costs $30, but I got the magazine deal where it was $20 with fees (total $22), which is a steal. The highlight of Club Train was the group photo at the end of the night. The group leaders always have the group gather together and take a photo in the middle of Market Street which is a lot of fun. Timing is everything with the traffic lights!
