I was in dire need of some TLC for my toes, and didn't want to spend a fortune. After a quick search on yelp for a place near me and Lisa's looked right. I didn't call first, just drove on over and put 4 quarters in the meter out front. There were 2 other customers there when I walked in, but they were able to take me right away. I happily climbed into the chair and set the massage to auto pilot, while my toes were scrubbed and polished to perfection. I paid the extra $5.00 for a french manicure because I'm way too indecisive to pick a color. I am pretty picky about french manicures, and I tend to notice any slight imperfection that most people probably wouldn't notice or mind (my crazy critical mind is hard to control at times), but this pedicure was perfect. I love that she put my sandals on before applying the polish so not to smudge them afterwards. I sat under the drying lamp for 4 or 5 cycles and left with dry, perfect, pretty toes and 5 minutes still left on the meter. This was 3 days ago, and my toes look as good today as they did when I walked out of the salon. Not a single chip after 3 days of walking around in flip flops or sandals (even to the dog park!) I find their prices reasonable. Their shop is clean. They are not the friendliest people, but they are nice. They do a great job!! They are always able to squeeze me in. They have parking in the front and they have street permit parking out front. read more

My wife has gone here for years, but the last two visits were terrible. A new person did a total hack job, made her foot bleed, ran out of polish 6 toenails in and had to start over, rubbed some sort of oil (not moisturizer) on her legs and took almost an hour and a half do do that. Lisa didn't seem to notice or care. It's too bad because she was a long time customer, but will now go somewhere else. You pay and tip in advance, so that's a bit of a racket, too. read more

Probably the best nal salon I've ever been to, and I regularly try different ones in San Francisco, New York and here in Somerville. Both Lisa and her sister provide the best set of acrylics and fills - which for me are short and red - and I'm impressed by the conisistency of their work. Absolutely the best. read more

I've done very well with my manicures and pedicures from Lisa's Nails. I have read some of the reviews from women complaining that their nails chipped after two days and I don't understand this. When you get a manicure, you can't then do whatever you want to with your nails. Your nails are not tools, especially when manicured. If you feel a little snag coming on, buff it down a little so it doesn't catch on anything. On a previous manicure from Lisa's Nails, I didn't get a chip on my manicure until four days after and it was in one tiny spot. I buffed it and touched it up with the color and it was perfect again. With the manicure I have right now, I did not get a chip until the seventh day, it was small and I touched it up. Chips happen because we use our hands, but don't blame the nail tech. I used to get my nails done on Newbury Street on a regular basis, but the manicures cost $29.00 and the pedicures cost $65.00. So, that was $112.00 with tip. I thought, there must be a less expensive way and found Lisa's Nails. I am happy with the good job they do and the prices are great! read more

I love it at Lisa's nails. I've been here twice now after not finding a nice place in Davis Square. First time I went, I had Lisa herself and my manicure lasted 6 days with out a chip. That is unheard of. Also the polish from the pedicure I got the same day (now about a month ago) is still looking almost as good a new minus the growth space at the nail bed). I would highly recommend Lisa's Nails to anyone that is looking for a cheap and long lasting mani/pedi. Went there twice prior to this visit and Sand did and ok job. So went back but Sandy was busy so another girl did my nails. She did a hack job. She cut them so short and did an awful paint job. I love Lisa's nails, it's right near my house, so it's very convenient for me. But other than that, they are very quick yet still very good. Their customer service is great too! New Year's eve I went in for a gel manicure, and by the next day my index finger had already chipped. It could have been me, but it also could have been their error since the chip occurred so quickly after having it done. This is the worst manicure I have ever gotten (see the picture). It was bumpy and had bubbles and ridges. It looked like a child tried to paint my nails and couldn't color within the line. I also doubted their hygiene. The soak water had red nail polish filings. I had to ask for the water to be changed. They didn't even care to ask me if I liked my nails. The nail technician was ready to go when I arrived. Greeted me and helped me with picking out a color. While doing my nails, she was engaging and asked how I liked them shaped and cut. I am used to high-end nail salons that charge $50+ for a manicure & pedicure. I felt that I got the same level of service for the price of $35. I would definitely recommend Lisa's nails to anyone in the area. The only thing that is holding it back from 5-stars is the level of organization. There was a lot of clutter and papers around. I get a gel manicure just about every 2-3 weeks and this place is the best! The manicure lasts the longest and the staff is professional and quick. I like to go on my lunch hour as my office is down the street and I am always in and out in 30 minutes or less! Highly recommend this salon for manis and pedicures as well. read more

They are professional, clean, and friendly. The manicure I got lasted about a week, and I only removed the gel manicure because my nails grew out. The pedicure lasted weeks, as usual. The owner of this nail salon needs to GET A CLUE. You own a small, no frills nail salon that is no different than any other place in the greater Boston area so you rely on repeat business- a smile might help. The ONLY reason I gave this salon two stars was because the manicure/pedicure is reasonably priced and was up to par. This would be my go-to salon if the women working there answered my questions when I asked without having to repeat myself, engaged in conversation, or even SMILED once while I was there. I work in the customer service industry and it is a serious shame when small business owners can't get it right. Although I was pleased with the mani/pedi, there are plenty of other places (that probably offer more amenities and cleanly service) to go that would be a better experience in general. To be honest- the owners sulky, rude and downright poor attitude was repulsive. I would like to say that I would go back but I would need to be seriously desperate. PITIFUL. read more

I saw these great reviews and called to book a manicure/pedicure appointment for the ladies in my wedding - 7 people all together. I called well in advance to make sure they had time for us. We got there and a couple of us were immediately rushed to a chair, and they rushed through some manicure/pedicures. I got shellac for my nails which ended up chipping 4 days later (thankfully after the wedding). Aside from the problem with the shellac, the biggest issue was the timing. While some of the people in my group were waiting, some other people walked in and sat right down to begin their non-scheduled manicures...while they skipped right over the ones who had an appointment. Two of them ended up not getting anything done there because everyone else was ready to go - and they hadn't even been started. I won't be back! It might be okay for a quick walk in, but don't expect them to keep your appointment and skip the shellac! read more
