I used this site specifically to get a review on a few nail salons in the city of Pensacola. I come from the Central Florida (Orlando) area where we have a number of high-end nail salons to choose from that provide a variety of services, and leave you feeling like your buck was well spent. Pensacola has a very slim selection of nail salons to choose from, and I had only experience with the Nail Lounge, and I wanted to try something different.
Based on the above review from Katherine, I decided I'd try Lisa's Nails a day after I got off from work. I made an appointment for 5:30pm to have a pedi, and shellac UV gel mani. When I arrived for my appointment I stood at the door for about one minute, with no one yet welcoming me into the shop, just looks. I was puzzled from this point because when I made my appointment, the woman I spoke to was enthused, yet these employees were not one bit excited. Hhhmm I thought, so I was finally approached by a male nail tech who asked how can I help you? I told him I had an appointment, and he said okay and then turned his back. He didn't communicate to the other female techs, so here I was standing there waiting to be instructed on where to be seated for my pedi. Finally a woman signaled me with a hand wave to come to a chair that was still being cleaned from the previous client who had sat there, so I couldn't even sit down immediately. Hhhhm again I thought, wow what a first impression. But I didn't give up on them.
I began my pedi, and started briefly speaking to the tech, who never looked up at me to say a word, and received minimal conversation. Hhhmm I thought, maybe she's just having a bad day. NOT! The tech would stop in the middle of my pedi constantly to talk on her phone while my feet were propped up waiting for the next step. She engaged in laughter and conversation with her employees in their foreign language, and never ever addressed me. I am no fool, and realized okay this must be happening due to the fact that I am a African American female (the only one at the time in the shop), and she must think I'm not going to give her a good tip. Well with that kind of service, hell I was definitely not going to leave her with the ten dollar tip I originally had put aside in my bag! It only got worse when she didn't complete my pedi without an explanation. It was around 6:00pm and they close at 6:30pm, so I guess she was ready to leave, because the only thing she said to me was "she finish your pedicure"- pointing to the tech sitting next to her, and then she just left. I was beyond pissed at this point, but I just kept my cool. Really?! Is this how you would treat your Caucasian clients?! I think NOT! So I thought to myself hhmm let me see how much more worse this can get. Fortunately it didn't get too bad. I did my shellac UV gels which is a new gel process that I was told would last 2-3 weeks, paid and tipped my manicure tech (not the pedi tech who only put polish on my toes), and left.
I came back today, one week later, because my gels are peeling, and one gel completely peeled off. I walked in and they were busy, but once again, I was looked at and not addressed. So I walked up to a gentleman and explained the problem I had with the gels they put on for me one week ago. A nail tech came by to look at my nails then I followed her to her table. She fixed the middle nail (never apologized, and never looked at the other nails that were peeling already), and rarely even looked at me. Sorry you're upset about the job you all did on my nails, but show some acknowledgment to your client who has paid you. Anyway, she finished, and then disappeared, leaving me with my hand in the UV light. It shut off, and I sat there with no idea where she went. I look behind me, and she is doing someone's pedi! Never did she say to me "when the UV light is turned off, let me know!" So I got her attention and asked her "are you done with me, because you never came back to me?" She had a bothered look on her face, came back to wipe the acetone across my nail, then just said "you done." Really?!!!!? Okay, so let's just say I will NEVER go back, nor suggest this place to anyone. If this is how you treat your African American clients who are just as deserving of great customer service as anyone else, and as if we don't deserve the same courtesy as others, then I will NOT be putting my money into your business. I am too well educated, and better than that to deal with such nonsense, but hey, we are in Pensacola, Florida right? Racism at it's most obvious! HHhhmm I have learned my lesson, and hopefully they will get their act together before another bad review comes up. read more
