There is something about a hot chicken sandwich that speaks to my soul... I rarely see this iconic childhood option on a menu, Lisa's menu, staff and decor felt like I was back in Ontario waiting for my mom and dad to join me. Living in the States, I may be a tad salt friendly, so I would argue the gravy needed some (easy to solve) and I did not need those peas (who ever really does??). Plenty of gravy and tender, moist chicken. Staff was PHENOMENAL (they only take cash or debit). Regretting regular Coke or Diet Pepsi (wanted Diet Coke) but who am I kidding with a diet pop and that full plate?? read more

This was the third year my seniors group travelled to Windsor just to have lunch at Lisa's. We have always enjoyed our meals, and this was no exception. However, our outing was ruined after receiving our bills. We were shocked and upset to see that an automatic gratuity of 18% was added on top of meals and tax! (We all had separate bills, so it's not like it was together on one.) We do not support restaurants with that policy, since a gratuity is supposed to be given at the discretion of the customer for good service (which we did not receive). The manager said this policy had been in place for three weeks. I told her I had made the reservation prior to that, plus called the day before to confirm, and at no point was it mentioned that this was their new policy and that we wouldn't have gone if we had known. She was very uncooperative, and refused to make it right. She also refused to give me the number or email address of the NEW owner. We can no longer support Lisa's, and will not be back. read more

Consistently high quality food at reasonable prices. The deluxe burger is my favourite!

We walked in just prior to closing (we thought it was opened longer). When we seated and was informed of the closing we offered to leave , as there were other restaurants we could go to. The waitress insisted we stay and took our order. Our order came and at no time did we feel rushed , everyone was very pleasant and the food was great. To be truthful , this was my first time there and if everyone was as nice as the people working here the world would be a better place. I know this isn't a review of the the food but rather the service and I apologize for that but I didn't feel right taking pictures and a review when they were kind enough to stay back to service us. I will definitely be returning here although next time I will check the closing times. Then I will leave a review of the food, which was great BTW read more

They have the best black bean burgers. Their service is amazing. It's down home cooking at its best.

My parents are great at finding little diners in small towns. It's a talent. :-) Lisa's Cafe is a small but nice restaurant in downtown Windsor. It's clean with a simple menu that still has something for everyone. I was very tempted by the schnitzel (!), but went with fish & chips. We also had the soup of the day and a cheeseburger. Everything was good. The fish has a nice crunchy batter and the burger was large. And they came with a generous helping of crinkle cut fries, which I love. The beef & veggie soup was hearty and tasted homemade. Dessert was lemon meringue and coconut cream pie. Both were very good. My slice of pie was huge! Washrooms are clean and well-attended, service was friendly and efficient and prices are very reasonable. read more

Great food at a good price. Place seems to full up quickly. The menu has lots of selection. Bathroom is very clean. Probably the cleanest bathroom I've ever seen in any restaurant. Staff is pleasant and prompt. read more

$-$$ This is one of those I call "everyday" restaurants. They usually have appropriate price over their food and the price is usually affordable for you to visit everyday. The restaurant is not fancy. You shouldn't expect amazing tastes. People here are friendly locals. If you are around and looking for a casual meal, give it a try. read more

On a Tuesday night the place was half full so that's a good sign! A mom and pop style dinner with friendly service and fresh food; the menu claimed everything was scratch and the fish was fried to order. We had the grilled salmon burger and one piece of fish and chips. You could mix and match your sides for most of the entrées but as you can see one serving of fries was enough for two. Love this little storefront place in downtown Windsor. There was only one table free when we arrived for lunch - the rest were taken by locals which is always a great sign. The service was fast and welcoming. The whole, fresh clams arrived piping hot and the phillicheese was dripping with sauce and fried onions. although there was beer in the fridge, we went with tea. Out it came on its own warming candle - very very very nice on a cold winters day. Both the bread pudding and lemon pie were worth the calories - baked on premises and just yummy. read more

We stopped in here for supper and were pleased with both the quality of the food and the price. This is a small, but welcoming cafe with friendly staff and a down home feel. What a little gem. My wife and I had a wonderful lunch with desert and it was very affordable. She had the salmon burger with fries. I had the cheeseburger with fries. Shared a delicious peanut butter pie slice and came in under 28.00 I asked for my fries well done and she got gravy on the side. They were perfect and crispy and I gobbled them up. I did have to steal some yummy gravy though. Couldn't resist. She loved the salmon burger. We will definitely be back! Go to Lisa 's cafe right now. But don't eat all the fries. As part of a bus tour group, we had lunch at this cafe today. It has been a long time since I had heated canned Campbell's veggie soup (called by some fancy name), thinned with water served to me as my "soup of the day'. I hope it is a long time again before I have it. Thinking the sandwich might make up for the lack of culinary art in the soup...........I waited. To my disappointment my Chicken Salad Sandwich was thin on the filling, placed on Ben's store bought bread............and a big diappointment. The coffee run out too soon, the atmosphere was bleak, (we were upstairs), and my husband had to tell the waitress 5 times he was the guy that ordered the Chicken Salad sandwich. Next time the Legion, or Walkers Restaurant for me. Sorry, but that was my experience at this Cafe today. read more

Always a good meal. Everything is homemade, served hot and is delicious. The prices are reasonable and, on your birthday, you get your age percentage off the birthday person's bill. We recently celebrated there with someone turning 60 years old. Great getting 60% off their bill! We go here fairly often. Nice friendly service, very good food and good value. read more

Finally found a real cozy seafood restaurant in Windsor NS. My neighbour's , my wife and I were told about this place having the best seafood around the Valley. We decided to give it a try. What a surprise for a small restaurant.Probably seats 20\30 people . When we arrived we got the last table and we were served almost immediately. After taking our orders we couldn't believe how fast our food came and as I said before the place was packed. The waitresses were all very polite and friendly.The 4 of us all had the seafood platter and I have to say that the meal was the best I have eaten in 58 years since I left Toronto. A very nice light tasty batter on the fish,scollops and clams. The only thing that I didn't like about the whole meal is that the french fries were the frozen bag type.Of course the seafood platter made up for this. As we were leaving there was a lineup waiting to get a table. I know where we will be going once or twice a week from now on. Try it out folks and I know you won't be disappointed.
