Gave them two stars which is a direct violation of Yelp policy: rating a biz based solely on their opinion on how well the mandates are being applied. Educate thyself, child. I stop in here now and then more to support a local business and to socialize with friends than anything else. I'm sitting outside, in the fresh air, always at least 6' away from the wait staff. Do I care if they have a mask on? Nope. This is a nice little locally owned and operated business. They have a lot of weird beers (ciders, wines, etc) including some brands that I haven't had since I was in the Navy 60 years ago. They have a funky sort of vibe that I usually don't go for but in their case it just works. They are right on the main drag although the outside seating is off to the side. You can still hang around and watch the world go by, chatting with friends in this very friendly and welcoming environment. Better when it warms up, of course, else you'll find me inside. Sandy is a nice little working class burb in the middle of nowhere between Gresham and Mount Hood. Nice stop over if you're coming back off the mountain.

However I found the risotto to be undercooked and it still had hard bits. When I let the waitress know, she said it was meant to be that way with it being "al dente". Very surprising, I have never had al dente risotto before, but either way, it wasn't for me. She came back later and said they made another one cooked a little longer which was better but still on the underdone side for me. The salmon and Brussel sprouts were tasty but I wasn't a huge fan of the tarragon shrimp dish either, I was expecting more of a spread or baguette topping dish but it felt like it was just a small portion of yummy shrimp with a baguette. Everything from the towel size to the clear bag listed online made getting through security easy and helped us get a prime spot. The concert itself was great. Lighting, sound and the vibe of everything was fantastic. We were disappointed with the vegetarian options available for purchase inside the concert venue. An overpriced baked potato and a store brand veggie burger felt subpar compared to other food options. Unfortunately, we could not bring food from all of the pubs and bars into the concert venue so it made it a little difficult. You really have to enter 2 hours before the concert to get a good spot, meaning you are there during dinner. That being said, the concert was great. The location is fun to walk around and includes a golf course, outdoor dining, and lots of little pubs and secret spots. The food is typical for McMenamins and the art both inside and outside makes it a unique Portland experience. My favorite part of all McMenamins sites is the history for the location. The local historical society was selling a book for $5 that told the history of the site, including its days as a poor house, a jail, and lots of other stories of the past. I would love to go on a historical tour, but for now to stroll the book and walk around the property was a treat. The lines were long because of the concert to get drinks everywhere so we opted for cold brew coffee on nitro at the little coffee cart inside the main lodge.
