I'm not out this way too often but my friend was celebrating her birthday and this was where she wanted to meet up with the rest of our crew. I was able to park on the street easy enough, always a good way to start a night in unfamiliar turf. My friend picked this place because she thought it had a cool hippie vibe about it. None of us were really old enough to be hippies the first time around but everyone has a hippie gene buried deep down somewhere in their DNA. My theory. The hairy dude checking for IDs at the door seemed pretty righteous. The band was playing mostly 70s music tonight. It was loud but not so loud as to make conversation impossible. The locals were all having a good time singing to the music and getting on the limited dance floor. The folks behind the bar were quick to respond to my drink orders, though I kept my selection to Woodchuck tonight. Pretty straightforward. We tried to play a couple of boardgames amid the din of half audible conversations and a John Denver cover. Boardgames line the wall for the patrons to curiously peruse. Someone's battleship got sunk, I couldn't remember whose but it was all giggly fun. At some point, you abandon whatever you're playing and take your drink, your friends and your silly butt to the dance floor. You try and figure out how to dance to some of this stuff. And honestly it all just works.

Liquid blues is the heart of woodstock. If you want to goto a true underground bar...this is it. Everything you could ever want to time travel back into the 70's

I really wanted to like this place but it majorly disappointed. I will stick to Ortmans and Cobbs much friendlier staff.

Well I saw it had food and we went a few weeks back. The place was empty, but that happens at times in WS I don't get it. It was a Fri night and a little late to eat with the kids (maybe 730) but DEAD on a Fri... Still we ordered anyway Our food looked good & fresh. I got this great sounding pineapple chicken wrap (can't remember the name) but unfortunately it was almost inedible--super spicy....i like some spice but this was like the spiciest Indian-food-level spice despite having no mention on the menu of any discernible spice. I was bummed because it was otherwise cooked well...but I couldn't eat it (had about 1/3 and left it -- mentioning to the very kind waitress that it was almost inedible-- which it was. My kids & wife seemed to have decent meals, but that item (if it wasn't just cooked wrong -- and I think that may have been the issue) shouldn't be on the menu unfortunately We might give it another try before writing this place off...I want to see the Square restaurants & shops do well...but right now I can't recommend

The atmosphere is very cool, the place is quite big and good for large groups and family meals. The staff was so friendly, and I mean everyone. From the hostess who seated us and immediately told us that Happy Hour was ending in about 15 minutes and to order as soon as we could for any bottles of wine, beer or appetizers. I appreciate that. Our server came over to take our appetizer and drink order. We ordered a bottle of wine and an appetizer, the potato skins. She was so friendly and it was a pleasure chatting with her. The potato skins were delivered to our table and were actually delicious. They were crunchy and the cheese was perfectly melted and topped with bacon. While we enjoyed our potato skins, several servers and the restaurant manager stopped to check on us, which was so nice. Then it was time to order our dinner, and we were going a bit light. I chose to have a bowl of the soup of the day which was creamed corn soup. Mr. Bee decided to have the tuna tacos. Our dinner was delivered in a timely manner and this is where the disappointment came in. My soup was supposed to be cream of corn. it wasn't creamed, it was creamy, with pieces of chewy kernels. There was no seasoning, it tasted if it was just corn and milk or cream, not even any salt. I didn't finish it. Mr. Bee's tacos were odd. The tortillas weren't fried, just warmed and flimsy. The tuna was not like poke. It was shredded, cut, cooked through and not really appetizing. He ate some of the tuna out of the tacos, but nowhere finished his meal and I have never seen him not finish tuna tacos. So when I said this was hard to write, it is. The staff, from the hostess to the servers who jumped in and helped each other deliver food and clear plates to the restaurant manager who checked in twice, they were excellent. Where the downfall is is in the food. Nothing after the potato skins was seasoned, poke tuna tacos would be amazing and the creamed corn soup should have been pureed, with seasoning, maybe a little bacon on top. It was all just so bland and disappointing. So I am giving the staff five stars and the food earns two. It could be great!

The service from Barbara could not have been more personable and attentive. We truly enjoyed her! She mixed a wicked Brandy old fashioned and was quick, but not too quick with her service. The food was all excellent from the relish trays, to the beer cheese pretzel ball and mozzarella sticks. Our dinners ranged from prime ribs...fantastic by the wAy, to meatloaf, butt steak, a burger and ribeye. All were cooked wonderfully. Excellent flavor, fresh salads and nicely prepared potatoes. They prepared a homemade birthday cake. Our entire experience tonight could not have been better in any way. Although it has been 20 years since we were last with you, it will be soon that we return. We were there on a Saturday afternoon. First off, the staff and service was decent. Our server was nice, but she did seem like she didn't want to be there but did follow up in a timely fashion. The biggest issue was the food. My lady had the Butcher Shop omelet, and I had the Monte Cristo. The food was barely edible. I should have known better than ordering a Monte Cristo in a family restaurant, so maybe that's on me. It tasted like they took the previous day's pre-made French toast, used a dried out unseasoned chicken breast, left over breakfast ham, and what ever cheap Swiss cheese they could find. I took one bite and lost my appetite. I could barely eat half of it. To add insult to injury; The fries were not good either... and they upcharge you for them. They tasted like boiled potatoes. Ketchup could not help them. My lady was less than impressed with her omelet as well. It was basically flavorless Which is difficult with that much meat. Either way, we wont be returning.

The potato was near very not warm, the chicken hot and good. You'd think it would have had a few celery and carrot sticks included just to get some veggies in and to make the presentation a bit more appealing, but then presentation is not really why you go there, I'm guessing. Got a gimlet and it was good. The server was really on the ball. We were there for a 1:00 lunch weekday. It wasn't terribly busy at all a few other tables and a few at the bar. My friend had the jambalaya special. I got the impression she was just ok with it and said it tasted better than it looked, and honestly it did look very unappealing. Almost like they took a decent jambalaya and put it in a blender. No discernible shrimp, sausage, chicken or rice, but she said it was in there. Color mostly brown. could not have eaten it. When the waitress said Jambalaya was the special I perked up but then remembered where I was and had always heard they had good chicken so I went with what they are supposed to be good at, jambalaya at a place that specializes in that type of food only. Ambiance. Well it's basically a local bar/restaurant, pretty much no frills, nothing stood out, really. Bar, tables, booths but a decent place for drinks and food. Just don't recommend the jambalaya.
